Find Your Holiday Needs at Collections Etc Giveaway

December 6, 2010 by Momstart 180 Comments

Collections Etc LogoWow, once Thanksgiving is over the Holidays are left and right. It seems like a party is scheduled here and a party is scheduled there and my lack of organization has me overbooked, how about you? I can’t believe that my kids are going to be in their first Christmas production, well, lucky Zoe gets to be in two. And I’ve signed up to bake cookies for them. With a party on the same night as one of them oh my!

I know this is my life from now on and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love having kids and growing up I always enjoyed having an overbooked Holiday Season, I just hated being in the car all that time everything else was great Family Fun!. What could you use to make all of the Holiday hustle easier?

Consider Collections Etc for your Holiday needs. From hundreds of amazing decorative items to all of your bake ware needs, all hand-picked to let you surround yourself with style and creativity. The Décor covers Country to Victorian and Northwoods to Nautical, you simply won’t find anything like Collections Etc. Collections Etc. is a leading catalog company and online retailer that’s been in business for more than 40 years.  They have thousands of affordable, unique gift, home décor and garden products—most of which are $19.99 or less (great for this tough economy). From seasonal and baking to gardening and goofy, Collections Etc. has something for everyone on your gift list!

Cookie Cake PansThis year, I’ve been really into baking. I’ve already made 9 pies, 8 of them were Pumpkin and 1 was Butternut Squash. I’ve made quite a few different breads too, and it’s been terrible for my hips but quite a delight to my taste buds. I finally figured out that I need to share at least half of what I bake with the neighbors. Collections ETC sent me the  Cookie Sandwich Shaped Cake Pans to review.

I just received these pans and haven’t had a chance to use them yet but my daughter’s birthday is next month and I know it will be fun to make her cake in these pans. Who doesn’t want a great big cookie as their birthday cake? The only negative would be that they are not dishwasher safe. I hate washing pans by hand, but they are nonstick!

Holiday Party Supplies, decorating, DIY ideas Beaucoup Giveaway

November 26, 2010 by Momstart 182 Comments

My family is out right now shopping for a new Christmas tree, and light fixtures so we can hang the lights outside the house. I’m at home, because I hate going out this time of year. That’s why I’m so excited about all of these online stores I find out about while blogging. Last year, through a blog campaign with The Family Review Network, I was introduced to Beaucoup.

beaucoup holiday itemsBeau-coup has all kinds of goodies for everyone on your nice list including personalized Hershey’s chocolates that will satisfy that sweet tooth, custom fortune cookies to liven up a holiday soiree, tea sachets to ward off the chill, and of course plenty of favor packaging like mini spice jars, and favor boxes wrapped in personalized ribbon to make the wrappings as pretty as your Christmas party favors inside!

They have so much stuff it almost difficult to choose something. They sent me a few things to review and it really got me into the Holiday Season. Thinking of the Holiday Season makes me think of Zoe, she’s been singing, “it’s the Holiday Season..do do doot do.” And I have no idea where she learned the words. I can only imagine it was in the car on the radio, because I don’t think they sing that at school or in church.

Anyways, out of the items that Beaucoup sent me, my favorite was the glass Christmas tree.

Glass Christmas Tree with Ornaments

It is beautiful details like this that just capture my attention. I love how this glass Christmas Tree reflects the light, and how small it is. It sits nicely on my fireplace mantle. The Mini Glass Christmas Tree also can be ordered with different ornaments than the one you see in my photo. Remember, Beau-Coup should also be considered for Do It Yourself Ideas. Beaucoup has an extensive DIY section and video section as well.

Saving With Walmart on Thanksgiving and Christmas can be affordable

November 26, 2009 by Momstart 649 Comments

clip_image002I often forget that Walmart has a price matching policy and was recently reminded of that for the Black Friday Deals they are planning tomorrow. I’m not sure what power in the world would get me out into that craziness tomorrow. I get so grumpy with traffic and this day brings out the crazies. Walmart has a new development on their site, an intra site so to speak. You can read about saving money, making dinner for eight, Melissa d’Arabians and her savvy advice on cooking and saving, and great recipe ideas with entertaining on a budget.. They decided to put this together because of a survey put together by the American Farm Bureau Federation. Last year’s average cost of a turkey was roughly $1.19 per pound. Select Grade A turkeys are available now for 40 cents per pound at Walmart.* These gobblers are part of Walmart’s $20 Thanksgiving menu guaranteeing family favorites will be on the dinner table this holiday season.

For your Holiday Dinner (since Thanksgiving is already over, unless you are like my family and celebrate it the Saturday after)

Walmart’s $20 Thanksgiving feast for 8 includes:

  • One 12-pound Grade A turkey*
  • Three 11 to 15.5-ounce cans Green Giant vegetables
  • Two 14-ounce cans Ocean Spray cranberry sauce
  • Three 6-ounce boxes of Stove Top stuffing
  • One 5-pound bag of red potatoes
  • One 12-count package of Sara Lee dinner rolls
  • One 22-ounce pumpkin roll cake

I do love going to Walmart for my shopping. My husband hates it but people in the Pacific Northwest seem to have a different opinion of Walmart than Southern people do. I mean, growing up Walmart was practically in my back yard. We could walk to it if we wanted to. We never went that far from home. Walmart sent me a gift card to use and I haven’t had time to use it yet. I’m going to use it the day before my surgery and make sure I have everything I need. I need some after medications and I know Walmart is the place to get them cheap.

I also have tow cards to give to two lucky readers.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Walmart. In addition, I received a Walmart gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate and two to offer as a giveaway

*Prices and availability may vary in AK, HI, OK, NM, WI and at Walmart.com. Prices on select Grade A turkeys begin November 4; limit two turkeys per customer; weights and brands vary by store. Quantities are limited; no rain checks. All prices do not include tax.

Glade Candles Holiday Collection Review and Giveaway

November 24, 2009 by Momstart 342 Comments

gladeGlade sent us two candles in a wonderful holiday scent to review. The Glade Candles Holiday Collection captures the warmth of the holiday season midst all of the cold harsh winter weather. They are responsible for adding that extra little touch to transform your home into a haven for family and friends masking any pet or other unwanted odors your house may have. The collection is offered in Apple Cinnamon and limited-edition Bayberry Spice which is ever so wonderful (this is the one they sent us. I love it. I just shove my nose up into it, before burning it that is). Seasonal designs of falling stars or festive gift packages adorn the red or green candle holders and add a very nice touch. The collection features new, refillable Glade Scented Oil Candles decorative glass holder; refillable Glade Scented Oil Candles tins; and Glade candles 4 oz. jars.

The manufacturer suggested retail price for the Glade® Candles Holiday Collection is:

· $3.49 for Glade Scented Oil Candle tin

· $3.49 for Glade Scented Oil Candle decorative glass holder

· $3.49 for Glade Scented Oil refills available for the tin and decorative glass holder varieties; contains four refills

· $3.49 for Glade candle 4 oz. jar

If you couldn’t tell from what I wrote above I have enjoyed the samples they sent me. It’s nice because the candles came in a very festive tin and I can reuse the tin with other votives that I have from the past. I could also put my votive lights that I purchased at Costco and have some festive shadows on the ceiling to amuse my kids. So it’s more than just sweet smelling, it’s a festive decor item in your house.

I am giving one of these away but Glade wants it to be a surprise. You will receive one or two candles from the Glade Holiday Collection.

Brighten up your house with Partylite Decorations and win Christmas Around the World #giveaway

November 21, 2009 by Momstart 378 Comments

Partylite has to be my favorite candle company hands down. I am addicted to their candles, so much so that I considered being a consultant. I just chose my blog over being a professional party thrower and lucky me; I still get to work with the wonderful candle company. They not only have some of the best smelling candles, the longest burning candles, the best guarantee, but hey also have some great decor items that you can add to your house. You don’t even have to go to a party anymore you can purchase them directly on-line. Here are some great Seasonal Holiday decorations:

They sent me

New Sweets and Treats Gift Set

clip_image012

Jolly Santa candle snuffer sits on a base that doubles as a tealight holder.  Set includes 12 red and white tealights in the new Peppermint Bark holiday scent.  $19.95. I have this sitting on my mantel over the fireplace. I really enjoy the smell of peppermint so the candles are a delight and I’ve never had a candle snuffer before. I always just blow them out. That’s a nice thing about partylite though is that when you blow them out they don’t smoke up the whole house. Partylite candles also are not hot to the touch. The wax is cool and won’t burn you, I don’t’ recommend touching the flame though. 😉
