GoPicnic Go Gluten Free Options

August 21, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

BY Lynn

In the past I have done a review for Go Picnic, so when I was offered the opportunity to do it again I jumped at it because I remembered from before how much I, and my daughter, enjoyed the product.

For this opportunity we were given breakfast packs to try out. (retail for about $2.99 each). We received two full size samples, one was the “Creamy Vegetable Spread…” and the other was “Maple Turkey Sausage…”. I LOVE the breakfast idea. This is something you can really take on a picnic or when you need a snack, or in this case a grab n go breakfast. You know what it’s like being a parent – sometimes you wake up a bit late, or things just go wrong in the morning and you forget breakfast or you feel you "don’t have time to waste on breakfast" (you really, really should though!) or your child hasn’t decided what they want to eat by the time you need to get out the door. This is a great little box of yummy food that you can keep in your car glove box or pantry and just nibble as you go or toss at your child in the backseat on the way to school! (Don’t judge! It happens). DSC_0398

Both flavors we tried are gluten free, although they do have regular varieties too. My daughter (who has celiac, hence the gluten free choices) really loved the maple turkey. I tried the vegetable cream cheese spread with the crackers that came with it and was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted! They had an applesauce in one box and fruit and nuts in both, so I know she (and I!) are getting balanced nutrition. They are also MSG free, contain no high fructose corn syrup, no trans-fats, and no artificial colors or flavors.DSC_0396

The boxes always have a fun Sudoku puzzle inside, so if you do get a quiet moment (while waiting in the car, etc) you can do a little brain puzzle! And if you get stuck, you can look up the answers on the website provided on the box!

While looking up info for this review I also saw that there is a Groupon for GoPicnic! You can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be taking advantage of that! You can also buy them at most mass retail stores, such as Target, Walgreens, 7-Eleven or online at amazon.com or their own website gopicnic.com.

I know I’ll be needed them especially now as school is just around the corner. And afterschool activities!

GoPicnic Picnic in a Box with Ginger Zip!

Go Picnic picnic in a box

By Lynn

This is a great idea! We received a full size box to try out. For my daughter (6) we chose a gluten free option The Tuna & Crackers. It came with a lemon pepper tuna spread, applesauce, multigrain crackers (GF), fruit and nut mix, and a caramel lollipop.

One thing I liked about this was that the box could be used to eat from if you are on the go, and in my case, give something to your child to eat in the car between activities – not the ideal situation I know! But sometimes it happens. The box even had a Sudoku game in it!

These do not have to be refrigerated so you can keep a couple of boxes in your car if needed, but probably not when it’s super hot over summer! J Each box is a single serving, so each person can have their own. Not everyone has to have to tuna, or you can share as you go. What is also nice for me as a busy mom (brain always at 100%), I don’t have to think about making a complete meal, the Go Picnic box already contains a variety of foods (meat, crackers, fruit, even a sweet treet if they’re good J). I tried out the fruit and nut mix as well as the tuna and they were both super tasty!DSC_0677

You can find more information at www.gopicnic.com . In addition to Gluten Free they also have vegan, kosher and all-natural, amongst other choices. The box has nutrition information per box, and also allergen information per item (i.e. Which package in the box has milk and/or peanuts etc).

I think the next flavor I’d like to try is the turkey pepperoni and cheese! Or the Sunbutter and crackers…hmmm I can’t decide! I’ll have to get a few and hope someone in my family shares with me so I can try a few out!

Ready To Eat Meals On The Go Picnic

September 14, 2012 by Momstart 13 Comments

This weekend my family is going camping without me. So I’m home alone and I don’t want to cook for myself. I would have to eat the same thing all weekend if I actually cooked a meal so I’m just going to scrounge around for food for the most part. I did receive some samples from GoPicnic.com and they might suffice for a few meals, I mean that’s what they are “ready to eat” meals.

image

The first one on my list, is the Turkey stick and crunch. My family just left and I feel like eating already, it’s only 3 in the afternoon but with the kids away mom will play or something like that. Kinda makes me laugh at myself because it is the kids snack time and I usually try to not snack with them, but the chocolate cookie on the box is calling to me.

IMG_5910

Everything is individually wrapped tastes great, gluten free, and has no trans fat HFCS or MSG. The Turkey stick and crunch Includes these 5 Great Foods!

  • Old Wisconsin Turkey Snack Stick
  • Popchips Barbeque Potato Chips
  • Niagara Natural Tropical Fruit Bites
  • Sweet Perry Orchards Baja Blend Fruit & Nut Mix
  • Enjoy Life Double Chocolate Cookie

It would have been smart of me to send these snacks with them on their camping trip instead of keeping them for myself. They retail for $4.99. What really counts is what’s packed inside each handy, compact GoPicnic box. Every nutritionally balanced, shelf stable meal combines a satisfying mix of protein, fiber, and fruit, and each bite, from crackers to hummus to applesauce to delectable dark chocolate, is full of wholesome ingredients.

GoPicnic meals need no refrigeration – they’re shelf-stable entrees. As long as an individual food item is unopened, it’s good until its individual expiration date kept at room temperature. We rely on excellent ingredients and high performance packaging methods, not chemicals and artificial preservatives, to keep products fresh and at the height of their quality and taste for an extended period of time without refrigeration.
