With all the new and fashionable products for kids and teens, it’s no wonder us mommies feel overwhelmed! Mommy, buy me this, or can you please get me that new yada-yada because everyone at school has one! I know, not all kids are like this, but if you’re a mommy, you have probably heard it a million times.
When it comes to eyeglasses however, most kids and teens would want to choose their own style. I have two girls who are as fashion conscious as I am, and I want them to look chic and fabulous all the time! So I did a little research on the latest trends in eyeglasses for 2015, just in case the three of us need to go visit a hip optometrist and get our eyes checked.
Trend #1 – Cat Eye Glasses
When I see cat eye glasses, I think of Catwoman! Cat eye shaped glasses will fit any facial shape because of its timeless design. This retro chic trend is a favorite of Hollywood and was worn by style icons Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. Today, Katie Perry, Mary J. Blige and Miranda Kerr sport these chic glasses.
Trend #2 – Exaggerated Wayfarer Glasses
Here is another one I see teenagers wear all the time, especially the ones that are hipsters. The original frame was designed by Ray Ban in 1956; the exaggerated wayfarer glasses nowadays come in an assortment of loud colors, to fit any personality. The style is also iconic and has a youthful and rebellious feel. Rockers of all shapes and sized love to wear a pair of exaggerated wayfarers from Ray Ban because it’s iconic and makes a statement.
Trend #3 – Chunky Bold Glasses
Geek is the new chic! This super fashionable trend seems to go on forever. Countless celebrities have donned a pair of chunky bolds, and they look absolutely fabulous by doing so! These also come in an array of different colors to match any dress and suit any occasion. Tina Fay is one celebrity that comes to mind when I see a pair of chunky gold glasses.
Trend #4 – Detailed Glasses
Plain glasses aren’t the only option when choosing a frame for your glasses. Detailed frames are all the rage this season because they offer you a million options. You can choose whatever intricately designed detail you want to express your personal style and taste. This trend shouts “freedom of expression” like no other, that’s why teens and kids love it.
Trend #5 – Round Glasses
When I see a pair of round glasses, I think about the movie Harry Potter and Gary Oldman’s character in Dracula. Both were wearing a pair of round glasses. Big as it was in the early days, and in Hogwarts, perfectly round frames are making a comeback!
Trend #6 – Oversized Round Glasses
If you want to look nerdy chic, then Oversized Round Frames are for you! Think of an old librarian in the 70’s, but more fashionable. Today, this style is considered uber chic. Nicole Richie loves oversized round glasses. Other celebrities who wear them are Kourtney Kardashian, the late Jackie O. Kennedy.
There you have it, six eyeglass trends that your teenagers will probably go for in 2015. I didn’t include colorful and sporty frames (younger kids seem to love these) because with most of the frames, you and your kids can choose whatever color you want.
