“Be Our Guest” for French Cuisine in New Fantasyland
You may have heard that there is a new addition to The Magic Kingdom, Fantasyland. This new land features some upgrades to old classics, like Flying Dumbo, and introduces the child in all of us to some new favorites, like Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid. It’s primarily a home to for Belle, the Beast, and Ariel with more plans for the future.
I spent most of my time in Belle’s little town. I was pretty much singing the song in my head (and maybe sometimes out loud) while I was there. In true Disney form, you truly are transported to the opening scenes of Beauty and the Beast when Belle is singing her way through the village. Once you head into town, you will find yourself at a gift shop that looked just like her favorite book store. You can even take a break at Gaston’s favorite tavern where they serve LeFou’s Brew. It’s a wonderfully refreshing, alcohol free, slushy sweet treat. While enjoying your brew, make sure you take a look around at the scenery inside. You might just find the score left from the last game of darts.
One of the newest ideas in The Magic Kingdom is the Be Our Guest! restaurant and attraction. I can’t just call this a place to grab some food, because it is SO much more! This is quick service for lunch and reservation only for dinner. Serving an assortment of French style cuisine, Be Our Guest! is an experience that is worth the wait. For lunch, the menu is slightly more limited but still has amazing options like Croque Monsieur, Tuna Nicoise Salad, and Braised Pork. Though the food is based on French cuisine, ANY family can easily find options everyone will love. The prices are a little higher than some of the other quick serve options, but this is an experience, not just a meal.
You dine in the Beast’s castle, again truly transported straight into the film. After winding across the bridge, past the beautiful stained glass windows, and through the hall, you enter ballroom. The windows, the curtains, the balcony… it all is picturesque.
You can also choose to dine in the West Wing. You may remember that as the Beast’s cold, dark mysterious room. You will definitely need to bring your jacket with you into this chilly spot. You might even be able to spot the magical rose safely kept under glass. The Rose Portrait room is the 3rd and final dining room. Here you can see portraits of Beast and Belle as well as a giant wooden music box of the happy couple dancing.
A trip to the Magic Kingdom is always an enchanting experience. Fantasyland is an exciting addition that definitely deserves some attention.
