I am a member of Vocalpoint and have been for a year now. I get about one sample a month and coupons to hand out at least every two months. Coupons usually include one free item and five to ten 1.00 off coupons. Membership is free, they request you fill out surveys on your opinion of the products.
Welcome to Mom Start Saving, where moms can come and leave their link about the hard work they do saving money; and where other moms can find great deals.
Saving money can be a very lucrative way to make money when you have a family. You can get so many products for free or next to free if you hunt down the great deals. Even stores that I once never thought about shopping in like Rite Aid and Walgreens are gold minds of deals. Yes, if you buy things off of the right formula then it is very expensive to shop there.
So a lot of the moms that write about saving money know the formula. Look at the ads, play the grocery game, clip coupons, participate in rebates. I learned a lot from The Coupon Mom, but I don’t use her site. It may sound crazy but her site doesn’t work for me. I can save more money just figuring it out on my own or taking some ideas from some other blogs.
I was writing about the savings myself, but it took so much time and so many other moms do it all. I want to start bringing attention to those other moms by inviting them here where we can all comment on each other’s posts.
I’m also trying to get sponsors to make it a little more fun.
This week:
Enter To Win 25.00 to Amazon on behalf of Coupon Trunk, a great place to find coupons, coupon codes, and discounts. Find major store coupons like Walmart Coupons, and Reebok Coupons.
Please visit the Coupon Trunk and come back here and give us your impressions.
Visit Each link from last week’s link up and leave them a comment. Come back here and tell me you did.
You can also add your own link and I recommend that you do because we have another sponsor next week. Please only add links about saving money, coupons or finding free items.
You can Blog about Mom Start Saving and also be kind enough to link to the sponsor.
I’ll be commenting this week on last weeks and this weeks. Good luck!
Giveaway ends October 11th at Midnight and winner will be announced next Monday
You know I spent all week thinking of what I was going to write about tonight and as I’m sitting here trying to get my rebates done and in the mail before the 30th I thought, maybe I should write about rebate offers.
Rebates are a perfect way to save even more money. For two years in a row now I’ve done the back to school rebate that Kelloggs offers. All you have to do is purchase ten of the qualifying items and if you do it the week the coupons come out or the week after you can usually get the items for free or with overage. The first year I bought them the grocery store had a sale where if you spend 20.00 then you get 20.00 to use on your next shopping trip. Well, I spent 20, used coupons making it all free and then I got 20.00 back. Then I came home and filled out the rebate and six weeks later I received 10.00 more dollars. I made 30.00 buying food for my family.
Rebates are everywhere. Technology items come with rebates often and sometimes appliances come with rebates. Every now and then they come off at the register but most of the time you have to fill out a form, save the UPC and mail in the receipt. When sending off rebate forms you need to make sure you follow the directions. You need to use the correct color ink, the correct size envelope, and provide the correct information. I have never had any problems but I hear you need to be exact. So I have been. I have four that I need to fill out tonight and put in the mail.
I think the one time that I wasn’t was with an Enfamil Rebate. I had to purchase a more expensive kind of formula for my son but it was the same brand, so I put in twice as many filled out the information and showed them on my receipt how much I spent every month on formula. So I was lucky and they honored the rebate. In an economy like this every cent helps.
I’m also very excited to state that we almost tripled our numbers last week. I did less work and more people came and visited. I love that we are helping moms save money and hopefully it’s bringing you more traffic. Please feel free to link up your savings articles during the week. I’m going to try and comment on everyone’s post this week. Not only can we save each other money but if we commented on each other’s posts it would be like having a commenter’s club. Also, feel free to take the button, the code for it is on the side of this post.
There should be a lot of freebie items coming up with the Holiday’s around the corner.
It got mine when I read it. The Cheesecake factory has a new kind of cheesecake out and I haven’t tried it yet. I wanted to last time I’m there but it’s hard to break away from my Godiva habit.
To get the free cheesecake you need to make a very small donation of soup.
The Cheesecake Factory has partnered with Feeding America for The ‘Drive Out Hunger’ Tour. Throughout the month of September, in support of Hunger Action Month, we’ll be touring 30 cities in 30 days holding an event each day to collect cans of soup benefiting the local food bank. Join us in supporting this cause by bringing two cans of soup to the event at each city and receive:
– A complimentary slice of Stefanie’s Ultimate Red Velvet Cake Cheesecake™ – for the first 500 guests who donate two cans of soup.
– A special gift to use on a future visit to The Cheesecake Factory® for every guest who donates.
– Being a part of the bigger picture by getting an official ‘Drive Out Hunger’ Tour photo taken and uploaded to our Photo Mosaic page online.
– Live radio remotes featuring your favorite local radio station personalities and music.
For more information and deals on the Cheesecake Factory follow them on facebook.
I’m still trying to spread the word about my new meme. I’m also trying to get back into the groove of not spending extra money because with buying a new house we don’t have extra money anymore. I think I’m going to work on my budget this coming week and over the course of the next two months my husband and I are going to figure out how much we spend on our new utilities.
We are going to downgrade our trash can to save a little money
We are not turning on cable.
We only have internet – this is a must
We need to stop going out to eat and I’m going to be joining Menu Plan Monday every week
We need to make a grocery list and find a coupon for every item on it.
We need to try and make my blog more profitable
We need to work on potty training my daughter to save on diapers.
We need to do better with using coupons.
I need to stop getting coffee and being lazy by going to Mc Donald’s just because it’s only 5 minutes away. Living in the city now is biting my budget. 😉
I think for October my grocery goal is going to be 400.00 including Costco and I’m going to go down 100.00 dollars if I make that goal to see if I can get down to 200.00 dollars or less.
Use these to place an order online at Dominos for delivery or pick up. You can place an order in the future too like tomorrow for lunch, or your busy night later this week for dinner.
BANLCH – Large cheese pizza $5.99
CINNASTIX – free order of Cinnastix with any online order (rumored to work
for delivery only)
BAN5OFF- additional pizza for $5 off
BAN3L4T – B1G1 free
ONLINE – free order of Cinnastix
I have not tried these codes myself. I’ve read that you will only be able to use two codes per order. One person said they used the last two codes to get 2 large one topping pizzas and Cinnastix for $12.58. I just used the last two on two specialty pizza’s and cinnastix. It worked just fine.

I’m off to find some other great links for you.
Shop at home has a toolbar that you can download and find great feebies and coupons. By using the toolbar, you’ll ensure that all of your on-line purchases get you extra cash back.
Free product samples and offers are organized into categories, including:
Dining & Restaurants, Entertainment & Travel, Fitness & Beauty, General Services, Grocery, Health & Medical, Home & Garden, Professional Services, Shops & Retail, Transportation & Auto
“The introduction of Free Product Samples provides consumers with yet another great way to save money through ShopAtHome.com,”
said Marc Braunstein, president and co-founder of ShopAtHome.com.
“There are many opportunities for consumers to try products for free before they make a purchase decision. We are committed to finding and sharing the best deals available with online shoppers.”
It’s a smart decision if you ask me because I can always make better decisions after trying a product first. I know if something is good enough to purchase again and to recommend to others. Having two children we have to buy a lot of everything. 😉
To help teachers welcome students back to school, as concerns grow about this flu season and the spread of novel H1N1 2009 flu virus, National Education Association (NEA) and The Clorox Company are offering a free canister of Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes to teachers nationwide.
teachers can visit www.cloroxclassrooms.com to redeem the offer, while supplies last.
Healthy habits, like hand washing and disinfecting germ hot spots are critical steps to help prevent the spread of germs that can cause illnesses, like flu.
At the Web site, teachers can also download a free “Clean Up the Classroom” kit, including lesson plans, games and other tools to help reduce the spread of germs at school.
Here are some great places to sign up for freebies. All you have to do is give some of them your address and they’ll mail you out coupons. I love signing up for coupons. I’ve already signed up for Right @ Home, Gevalia, Prilosec, Kotex, Remedy Life Magazine, Arm & Hammer and FreeFlys.
Samples and Coupons are the best way to start saving money.
