Fisher Price Servin’ Surprises Kitchen and Table Serves Up Fun

December 18, 2012 by Momstart 6 Comments

Fisher Price Servin’ Surprises Kitchen and Table – Serving up Fun!

By: Ashley

When I found out that I had the chance to review the Servin’ Surprises Kitchen and Table from Fisher Price, I was ecstatic! My son absolutely LOVES to help me in the kitchen. Yes, he is mesmerized by anything with wheels, and anything related to dinosaurs, but his culinary curiosity is a force to be reckoned with. I try to have him help out in the kitchen as much as possible, but sometimes, that just doesn’t work out. The only problem with a kitchen set though, is the space and storage. That’s part of what makes the Servin’ Surprises Kitchen and Table so great! It is the perfect kitchen set if you’re tight on space, or need multi-purpose gear. Add to that, the great interactive features that this kitchen has and you have got a great toy. We had a playdate to put this kitchen to the test, and it passed with flying colors.

The set up of the kitchen is very easy for children to use. There is a great cooking area and an oven that opens up. The controls on the stove add wonderful sound effects that really add to the realistic kitchen feel. The stove burner bubbles, the griddle sizzles, and the oven has a timer and light.

clip_image008clip_image010

There is a cook pad for the center of the table. This is where some of the magic really starts to happen. The large cook pad has a sensor that reads which accessory is locked in. A pizza pan comes with the set which signals the cooking pad to sing the pizza song. If you happen to have the grill set, you will hear the barbecue song! I love this! There are a couple of other sets too that go along with it.

One of the challenges with a kitchen set is what to do with it when it’s not in use. With the Servin’ Surprises Kitchen and Table, you put the dishes and cookware into the center storage area of the table, flip the stove section over, and you’ve got a regular kids’ table ready to go for art projects, snack time, or anything else! SO COOL!

Check out a quick video showing you some more features of the Fisher Price Servin’ Surprises Kitchen and Table. This toy can be found at most major toy sellers and online. It retails for about $75.00.

Nickelodeon Fisher-Price Team Umizoomi Umi Shape Adventures Board

December 15, 2012 by Momstart 7 Comments

A catchy toy that captures the kids interest before even opening the box. My kids love the really great sound effects. And I find the colors are really vibrant. The game works with 4 double-sided cards that encourage building and learning. The cards seem pretty sturdy. We had a 2 year over and he couldn’t stop playing with it. He didn’t even need to change the card.

If your child loves puzzles (as mine does), then I think this will be a big hit. I think it’s a really creative way to introduce colors and shapes. If you have a Team Umizoomi fan, this would be a solid, engaging holiday pick with educational value and I think educational value is very important.  image
The eight scenes are mostly gender neutral and very engaging — I think they did a really great job in selecting them:IMG_2294

Fisher-Price Giggle Gang: Keeping Babies (and Parents) Smiling All Day Long

May 26, 2012 by Momstart 9 Comments

By Christine:

Few things make our hearts smile like the sound of a baby’s laughter! It’s infectious. We want to take it with us wherever we go. Fisher-Price has captured babies’ laughter in an adorable, new collection called the Giggle Gang: soft, plush characters that giggle when baby squeezes or shakes them.

 IMG_0222

Each of the six Giggle Gang characters has its own unique giggle and is round in shape and the perfect, plush texture for baby to grasp and hold. And, when baby squeezes or shakes each one, they all giggle together!

Perfect for ages 6 mos.+ and priced at $12.99 (batteries included).

In addition to being fun each member of the Giggle Gang characters provide many opportunities for babies to develop and lean.
Sight, sound & touch
• Bright colors & patterns, fun sounds & textures promote sensory skills
Giggly rewards
• Responds to baby’s squeeze or shake, teaching about cause & effect
You’ve got a friend
• Laughter is contagious—a silly friend fosters a sense of humor!

IMG_0233

Giggle Gang characters Curly and Kiwi arrived at the perfect developmental time for my 7 month-old.  She is just getting to the stage where she uses laughter and "excited wiggles" to communicate, and is also starting to mimic some speech- mainly laughing.  When first presented to her she immediately reached out for Curly so he became hers to keep, and we are giving the other to a friend that is expecting her first baby in a few months.

Once Curly was out of his box she began turning him over and exploring all of the different textures and tastes.  Each Giggle Gang character has a unique shape, but they all have arms & legs and a hat or curly top, which makes them easy to handle for babies who are just developing their hand-eye-coordination. Baby M particularly likes the silky tabs that are around Curly’s middle, and I noticed that Kiwi also has the same silky tags.

Their faces are absolutely adorable and make you smile even before they laugh.  What is unique about the laugh of the Giggle Gang is that although each one is different, they do sound like real babies.  So many laughing toys sound either very mechanical or creepy.  Curly and Kiwi are neither of those, their laughter is realistic and contagious.

The squeezing mechanism is still a bit hard for M at this point, however her older sister is happy to help out. The shaking feature is activated after the Giggle Gang character has been squeezed at least once. These are really cute toys and reasonably priced at $12.99.

The laughter does continue after the squeezing or shaking stops, but just a few more times so it doesn’t get annoying. Giggle Gang Curly has earned himself a spot in the living room toy bin, a place reserved for frequently played with toys in our home.

Dance Star Mickey Set To Shake Up The Holiday Season

October 31, 2010 by Momstart Leave a Comment

clip_image001“This is a first for Mickey,” says Chris Byrne, content director for TimetoPlayMag.com, also known as The Toy Guy®.  “Each year, Fisher-Price celebrates the holidays with an extraordinary plush toy that combines technical magic and classic play. This year, it’s Mickey’s turn, and he’ll be dancing his way into the hearts and imaginations of kids of all ages.”

With his exciting dance moves and fun interactive games, Dance Star Mickey is set to top holiday wish lists as he encourages children to get up, get active and dance! Featuring extraordinary dancing skills, Dance Star Mickey is packed with play that’s pure joy.  At sneak previews this summer, Dance Star Mickey had kids – and their parents -up on their feet, grooving to Mickey’s moves in one big dance party.

“We are thrilled that Dance Star Mickey is now available to dance into the hearts of kids around the country,” said Gina Sirard, vice president, marketing, Fisher-Price.  “It’s exciting to create a toy that can move like Dance Star Mickey – talking and interacting with kids, energetically waving and clapping his hands, and bouncing to each beat. It’s a truly engaging experience as this iconic character comes to life to create that special Disney magic that has resonated with children all over the world for generations."

With one press of his foot, Dance Star Mickey is revved up and ready to go on a fun and magical experience as he grooves to six different songs with styles including Disco, Latin, Techno, and an “out of this world” Moonwalk grand finale.  He is also packed with interactive games that will have children and parents laughing and dancing right along.

“Dance Star Mickey truly captures the humor and endearing personality of this beloved character,” said Chris Heatherly, vice president of Disney Toys. “This dancing Mickey is the next generation of feature plush from Disney and Fisher-Price featuring the most innovative mechanisms to foster exceptional play value through endless singing and dancing entertainment for kids.”

The dancing Mickey made his debut last February at the American International Toy Fair as Dancing with the Stars champion Donny Osmond joined in to help announce this magical toy.  This holiday season, the Disney pair reunites for a special commercial spot airing tonight during Dancing with the Stars.

For even more dancing fun, Fisher-Price and Disney have also created a highly-interactive online game at www.fisher-price.com/DanceStarMickey  and free iPhone application that gives kids the chance to make up their own unique dance for Mickey by mixing-and-matching his individual dance moves in specific sequences of their own creation.  And what would a dance-off be without celebrity judges?  Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy sit at the judges’ table to rate each dance on a scale of 1 – 10.  Kids are encouraged to play again and again to find just the right combination of dance moves to earn that perfect 10!

Available at major retailers and The Disney Store, Dance Star Mickey is for ages 2 years and up and retails for $69.99.  For more information please visit www.Fisher-Price.com/DanceStarMickey.

Fisher Price is now making diapers #giveaway

October 30, 2009 by Momstart 243 Comments

Fisher Price started making diapers for children and is selling them in stores like Toys R Us. When my husband and I first saw them in the store we both though, how awful.

I mean, what does a company like Fisher Price know about making diapers? We both agreed that we wouldn’t switch without a sample. A few weeks later Fisher Price contacted me and asked me if I would review them. I was happy too and at first I thought they forgot all about sending me the samples but they finally showed up two days ago. I wanted to give the diapers a little bit of time before I wrote about them and offered up the giveaway.

My Opinion:

They are cheaper than the name brand that I purchase unless the name brand is on sale. The design is very simple and almost non-existent which is fine. I don’t think my kids really care what is on their butt as long as they are comfortable. The day time ones are yellow and they seem like they are not going to be as absorbing but we haven’t had any leaks. Somehow they are made thinner but we haven’t had any leaks.

The same goes for the night time diapers. I would wager to say that they are better than Huggies Overnights. We have leaks even with the overnights but they also run small (the overnights do ). Fisher Price Diapers in my opinion run a little bit larger than Huggies. Not sure why but they do and maybe it’s just in my head. My kids are on the larger side than other children. So these seem to fit more comfortably.

I can’t say that I’m going to switch though. Target, Rite Aid and places like that are so much closer to my house. I just can’t justify driving to Toy’s R Us. When I’m finally out of my stock pile I’ll re-asses what is cheaper and maybe just buy them on-line at the Fisher Price Online Toy Store
