November 16, 2011 by Momstart 413 Comments

It’s always a good time to have a family movie night and I’m ready to pop open Cars 2. Our kids have already seen the movie, they went to the theater with their dad and watched it and I can’t wait to see it again. I love the soundtrack and listen to it all the time.

Who Is Simon Miller Family Movie Night Giveaway

July 25, 2011 by Momstart 174 Comments

Family Movie Night must be quite successful because the newest movie is coming soon. On Saturday August 6th at 8/7 central on NBC, Walmart and P&G will be presenting Who is Simon Miller? with an exciting cast of characters.

TBT Poster_Final Art2

Like most families, the Millers have their challenges. Simon’s (Loren Dean) frequent business trips have created some distance between him and the rest of the family, leaving Meredith (Robyn Lively) stretched and struggling to keep things together. Daughter Sarah, an 18-year-old honor student, has recently gotten herself into trouble at school while son Kevin, 15, struggles to engage with anything outside of a video game. However, these issues all prove to be trivial when Simon goes missing.

Sensing something is not right, the family frantically searches Simon’s office for information. Discovery of a stash of passports, all with Simon’s picture but each with a different alias, reveals that their father has been keeping more than a few secrets. In a frantic phone call, Simon urges the family not to tell anyone of his disappearance, not even the authorities, right before the line goes dead. Who is Simon Miller? And what exactly has he gotten himself – and now his family – into?

Shocked, scared and unsure if they can even trust the dad they thought they knew, the three embark on their own international mission to get him back. With Meredith’s sharp instincts, Sarah’s foreign language skills and Kevin’s natural tech genius, they try to unravel the mystery behind his disappearance. It’s a heart-pounding family thriller that tests the limits to which families will fight for each other.

He has played supporting roles in “Apollo 13”, “Gattaca” and “Enemy of the State” among others, and has worked with some of the finest directors in film including Ridley and Tony Scott, Clint Eastwood, and Wim Wenders.

Loren most recently starred in Conviction opposite Hillary Swank for Fox Searchlight in 2010. Loren’s television credits include Bones, CSI, and most recently a recurring role in Ted Griffin and Shawn Ryan’s new show "Terriers" on FX. He is currently shooting the 2-hour back door pilot “Passport” for NBC.

clip_image004ROBYN LIVELY (Meredith Miller)

Born in Powder Springs, Georgia, Lively began her career as a child actress. At age six, she made her screen debut in the television movie “Summer of My German Soldier” in 1978. Throughout the 1980s, she appeared in several television shows and movies including “Punky Brewster”, “Wildcats” with Goldie Hawn, “The Karate Kid, Part III” and “Not Quite Human.”

At the age of 19, Lively was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance as an insecure teen in the 1991 ABC Afterschool Special episode "Less Than Perfect Daughter".

In the 1990s, Lively had recurring roles on “Twin Peaks”, “Doogie Howser, M.D.”, and “Chicago Hope.” In 1996, she appeared as Lane McKenzie, one of three lead characters in the short-lived WB drama “Savannah.”

In 2008, Lively appeared alongside Holly Hunter in an episode of “Saving Grace” and also had a role in “Cold Case.”

clip_image006SKYLER DAY (Sarah Miller)

Skyler Day was born in Atlanta, GA in 1991. Her start in the Entertainment Industry began after meeting a talent agent in the DMV at the age of 6. She began her career with print work, commercials, and voice over’s, eventually leading to her first film debut. At the age of 10 Skyler made a deal with her parents, if she was cast the lead in a film by her 11th birthday they would move to California so she could pursue her acting career. She missed her goal by about two weeks but ended up being cast a lead role in, “The Adventures of Ociee Nash!” Skyler’s dream came true and her family relocated to California in 2004.

Music has been a major part of Skyler’s life. At 10 years old, she wrote and recorded her first song, “Grandaddy’s Love.” Since then, she has taken up guitar and has written numerous songs. She continues to write passionately and is seldom seen without her guitar and songwriting notebook. She performs frequently as a feature artist and also with her twin brother, Dalton, who is an outstanding guitarist.

Skyler recently guest starred on hit shows including, “CSI: Miami, Law & Order: LA”, Disney Channel’s “Sonny with a Chance” and “Good Luck Charlie.” She was also a recurring character on TeenNick’s “Gigantic.”

clip_image008DREW KOLES (Kevin Miller)

The son of a Canadian father and American mother, Drew was born in Sacramento, California where he lived until the age of four. In 2000, his father moved the family to British Columbia, Canada where he received his Canadian citizenship before returning to California in 2006.

The youngest of three children and an only son, Drew has always been known for his natural wit and easygoing charm. Happy by nature, never shy, he loves making people laugh and is always entertaining those around him. Growing up, Drew took part in school skits and drama performances. He was a favorite with his teachers, especially his choir teacher.

At age eleven, just after returning to California, Drew told his mother he wanted to be an actor and make movies. His favorite actor at the time was Hayden Christensen and he had watched the Star Wars movies over and over so many times that he could quote whole passages of dialogue. He started taking an acting class but soon after told his mother it was boring. However, it didn’t change his mind about wanting to be an actor.

Later he asked to attend an event where he performed a monologue from Huckleberry Finn for numerous talent agents and managers. He was an obvious favorite and shortly following the event, Drew signed with a Los Angeles talent agency and a manager. With the support of his family, it wasn’t long before he was living in LA and pursuing his dream full time.

And like a dream come true, Drew consistently meets every goal he sets for himself. From starring in his first student film, to booking a lead role in his first feature film, he continues to reach higher as his dreams get bigger. Some of Drew’s 2011 goals are to book a feature film and a series regular role. He also noted he would like to work with Joseph Gordon Levitt, Andrew Garfield, Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott someday in the future.

Field of Vision Video Camera

June 7, 2011 by Momstart 880 Comments

Have you ever seen the footage from the old Charlie Chaplin Movie where people speculate that the person in the background of the movie is a time traveler with a cell phone. It’s really creepy footage of someone walking behind the action and they look like they are talking on something up to their ear. The camera caught it….

That’s what Field of Vision reminds me of except it’s not creepy at all.

imageThrough mysterious footage captured on an old malfunctioning video camera, Sinclair High School’s star quarterback, Tyler McFarland, learns that some of his teammates have been bullying Cory Walker, a troubled new transfer student.  Aware that sharing this information with the coach might get his friends kicked off the team and ultimately cost the school the state championship, Tyler must choose what’s more important: winning or doing what’s right. As these events unfold, the camera also reveals more surprising footage to Tyler’s kid sister Lucy, as she learns that Cory has a secret past, unknown even to him. Now Lucy must convince her mom (Faith Ford, Murphy Brown) and family that the camera’s revealing insight is not a product of her imagination as she enlists their help to find the answers Cory so desperately needs.

The newest installment from Procter & Gamble and Walmart’s Family Movie night initiative is bringing quality entertainment back to the television. Field of Vision is a teenage football movie safe for the whole family keeping out the locker room scenes and the focus of the movie is on Cory Walker and his needs and not all of the teenage angst that usually goes along with football movies. Blogger Giveaway Kit3

Be sure to watch Field of Vision on Saturday June 11th at 8/7c on NBC

Family Movie Night Truth Be Told Giveaway

April 14, 2011 by Momstart 78 Comments

In honor of Family Movie Night brought to you by P&G and Walmart on April 16th Fox will be airing “Truth Be Told”. You may have already have read my Truth Be Told Review and know that it’s going to be a great movie. A little misunderstanding, turned into a lie and that lie was a lot of fun. Watch as things come together and fall apart and…well you’ll just have to watch and see how the movie ends.

Screen shot 2011-03-21 at 9.40.10 AM

Movie Synopsis:

Starring Candace Cameron Bure, David James Elliott and Ronny Cox, Truth Be Told plays upon the old adage, that “honesty is the best policy,” and according to Colorado’s leading marriage counselor, Annie Morgan (Candace Cameron Bure, "Full House" and "Make It Or Break It"), honesty is the key to successful long-term relationships. Ironically, Annie has never been married and doesn’t always follow her own advice. Truth Be Told will take viewers on an entertaining yet touching journey as Annie begins to realize that the truth may have its consequences, but ultimately it’s what opens our hearts and brings out the best in each other.

Truth Be Told Family Movie Night Returns April 16th on FOX at 8pm/7ct

April 5, 2011 by Momstart 2 Comments

I’m so excited about the next installment to Family Movie Night with P&G and Walmart on Fox. On April 16th Fox will be airing “Truth Be Told”. This family safe movie stars Candace Cameron Bure, a woman already well known for her family friendly past and best selling author of a new book. Also in the movie David James Elliott, "JAG" and "Scoundrels", and Ronny Cox, "Stargate SG-1" I’m a HUGE Stargate Fan! HUGE, I recognized him right away. Oh and you’ll see someone from Star Trek at the end of the movie. LOVE IT!

Growing up, we watched Full House every Friday night, when TV was safe to sit down together and watch. I loved the memories of spending time together as a family, laughing and just enjoying each other and the shows were much different than they are now. Now, I don’t let my kids watch any of the programs that are on. We just don’t enjoy TV the way we used to. Which is why I whole heartedly support the return of Family Movie night. Be, a TV show that lasts only 30 minutes or an entire movie, I want wholesome family programming to return.

In “Truth Be Told” Annie Morgan (Candace Cameron Bure) is a very successful marriage counselor who believe in long-term relationships even though she’s never been in one. An opportunity falls into her lap, she is offered a job from Terrance Bishop (Ronny Cox) to be a radio host for marriage counseling. The catch is she has to bring her family that doesn’t actually exist. So she convinces and old college friend Mark Crane, who Terrance actually believes is her husband anyways to go along with her on a lie so she can get the job. Mark’s teenage children go along for the ride. Of course they have quite an adventure together but was it worth it to begin with a lie.

This is a super cute movie and I really enjoyed it. It’s completely safe for the whole family, the only question is how much lying is ok? In our family we’re completely against lying at all. And in the movie, no one was ok with the lie. Annie, kept trying to tell the truth but she always let something get in the way. And for some reason, Mark felt it was Annie’s responsibility to tell the truth. I don’t want to give too much of the movie away but there is a lesson to be learned, and they learned their lesson.

Tune in to the premiere of “Truth Be Told” on Saturday, April 16th on FOX at 8pm/7ct.

Would You Take A Walk In My Shoes with Walmart and P&G

November 27, 2010 by Momstart 95 Comments

I often wonder why people jump to conclusions and judge each other. Like me, yeah, I’m guilty of judging other’s and when I do, I stay up all night worrying about how cruel what I said was. Being a blogger, it’s reversed too. People don’t know anything about me other than what I write on this blog. But they are so quick to judge and write cruel comments. I know, I’m putting myself out there, but it still hurts. You should take a walk in My Shoes before you make a comment that could hurt! That’s advice that you should use on anyone you know, even strangers. Especially strangers, talking about the way people are dressed, or how they talk or look is just wrong!

This weekend, I had the opportunity to watch preview A Walk In My Shoes this weekend and it was really good. What a thoughtful way to enter the lives of a triangle of people. In A Walk In My Shoes Trish (Nancy Travis) a mother that is way to busy to pay any attention to her family becomes Cindy Kremer (Jana Lee Hamblin) a doting mother not able to make ends meet. When Trish becomes the mother of Mikey (Jackson Pace, a really cute kid with a lot of spunk) and Justin (Cameron Deane Stewart, who has family local to me) they are kicked out of their house with an eviction notice. To help Trish out, a crazy lady Molly (Yara Martinez) and a Marine Jake (Philip Winchester) trying to adjust to civilian life. Family movies always make me cry and this one had me crying in the first five minutes. It was a great movie of a family finding out how to deal with the death of their father, and finding a way to get back on their feet with the help of another family. This is not your typical “Freaky Friday” type of movie. Here only one person makes the trade as she learns not to judge someone before taking A walk in their shoes.

Filmed in Portland Oregon, A Walk In My Shoes is the next installment of Proctor & Gamble and Walmart’s Family Movie night. A Walk In My Shoes premiers December 3 at 8/7c on NBC. I was on the movie set of A Walk In My Shoes in Portland and I learned a lot about how Walmart and P & G plan on bringing Movie Night Back.

While there, I had the opportunity to meet the cast and some of my piers as we were on the set of A Walk in My Shoes.

For family night to truly return to television, it is up to the viewers, the viewers are going to have to demand it. Unless we want to watch quality TV and refuse to watch crap, it won’t change. Help Family night make a come back and watch A Walk in My Shoes December 3rd 8/7c on NBC. You know, A Walk In My Shoes could become a great TV Series, tell me what you think?

On the Set of Family Night, Tune In Tonight!

July 16, 2010 by Momstart 4 Comments

Tonight on NBC the second movie from Proctor & Gamble, and Walmart, The Jenson Project will be airing at 8/7 Central. Tune in with your entire family!

I spent a few days in June with Proctor & Gamble and Walmart in Portland Oregon on the set of the third Family night Movie, “A Walk in My Shoes”. I was joined by 5 other bloggers for actor interviews and project discussions. The importance of sitting down together as a family weighs heavily on parents minds, on set and off. During the interviews the  actors expressed how they were all very excited to be working on this project. Working on a family oriented movie that their families could be proud of was very important to them.

We watched the process of filming a scene, and how the producer watches it from behind. They film it with cameras in different locations and then move the cameras and film it again. Then they repeat this about 20 times to make sure they got the shot and then the magic happens.

IMG_8227 by Family Movie Night.

They made this same kind of magic happen for me. During the day they followed us around with cameras all day. I was interviewed on camera and they pieced this together. Check me out!

Support Family night by watching The Jensen Project tonight on NBC.

Family Night 5 day Countdown #Giveaway

July 12, 2010 by Momstart 241 Comments

P&G and Walmart are in the movie making business. What’s their motive? Other than the obvious, they want to bring back family night on TV. Remember when TV used to be decent and everyone could sit down together as a family and watch TV? I do!

Now, I don’t even trust the Disney Channel after Playhouse Disney goes off the air, as soon as you hear Ooh and Aah sing, “So Long, Far Well” I run for the remote. You may think I’m crazy, but I know other parents feel the way I do, at least my neighbor across the street as does. So I applaud what P&G and Walmart are doing.

On Friday, which means in five days from now, the second movie The Jenson Project will be airing on NBC. Tune in July 16, 2010 at 8/7c.  Among the cast of The Jenson Project are two actors I remember watching as a kid with my family. Kelly Martin from Life Goes On, Christy and ER, and LeVar Burton from Reading Rainbow and Star Trek. I loved all of those TV shows! Randy Jackson produced the soundtrack featuring Brooke White and Jordin Sparks. The movie/soundtrack will be available in a combo pack the day after the movie airs at Walmart. I was unable to attend the premier in Hollywood but I did receive a behind the scenes look at the movie. I can’t wait until I can view the entire movie, it’s fast paced like 24, and very high tech, double life-like Alias.  image

The thrilling science fiction plot of ‘The Jensen Project’ focuses on the Thompson family, who are reintroduced to The Jensen Project, a secret community of geniuses conducting advanced underground research to solve the world’s most difficult problems. The family is forced into a frantic pursuit to keep a potentially dangerous technology from falling into the wrong hands, and rediscover the importance of honesty, courage and being there for one another. The film features Kellie Martin, Brady Smith, Justin Kelly, LeVar Burton, Patricia Richardson and Alyssa Diaz.
