Sony eReader: The PRS-T2RC 6 inch Touchscreen WiFi eReader in Red

December 12, 2012 by Momstart 7 Comments

My husband has been using a Sony reader for a year now and he still loves it. It’s light weight, easy to travel with and works well. He uses it to check out library books and read himself to sleep every night. He also takes it to work and reads it on the bus. I’ve been using the Kindle, and can’t really decide which eReader I like most. I think I do like Sony most because it comes in red it’s just the books I like to read over and over again I have downloaded on the kindle. So it’s hard to give it up.  But I do like sharing books with my husband and since he’s using the Sony now it works for me and I really really like the PRS-T2RC 6 inch Touchscreen WiFi eReader in Red. What I do know about this eReader is that it is super fast, connected easily to our network, easily connects and finds the local library and simplifies purchases. I’m really pleased with the updates between this version and the one my husband has from last year and how fast it is.

What’s your favorite book or favorite style of books?

My favorite books are science fiction, murder mystery, romance and absolutely love the book when it somehow combines all three. I wish I had more time to read too, reading exercises my brain in a way that blogging doesn’t. I get to take in words instead of this constant output of words. I’ve been writing so much for the holiday season and all these holiday reviews. Sigh, I really want to start reading again and I’d love to know what you recommend. ..

PLEASE tell me what I should try reading next.

Much Deserved Mommy Time Nook Color Giveaway

December 30, 2010 by Momstart 3,987 Comments

Much Needed Mommy TimeAddicted is one word I would use to describe myself. Addicted to reading Twilight. Not just the first book either, but all four books. I read Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn over and over. I’m on round five or six, I’ve actually lost track. These are very big books, and if I had to hold the book, my hands would ache. I have arthritis, but I love to read. There were a few years that I would only read for about 15 minutes at most before going to bed because my hands would start hurting.

Then, came the e-books.

Now, I can read the books over and over again, finish one of the books and jump directly into the next book. Someone has to actually remind me to go to sleep.

Which brings me to what would be my favorite mommy time kind of day?

Nook Color PackagingI would love to spend the day reading and not too long ago I did. I decided to take a break from my twilight obsession and I downloaded a new book (new to me at least). I downloaded Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins it took me about a week to read the first book then the second two, Catching Fire, and MockingJay I read in 3 days. I could not put my reader down, not even during the day. I sat on the couch with my ereader in hand and read for hours. I even like to read in the bath tub (but that’s just between us ok?)

The Barns & Noble Nook Color is an amazing way to spend your mommy time. Sit down, read a book, read a magazine, read a news paper, read a website or blog post. I mean, I love the way my blog looks on the nook color. The Barnes and Nobel Nook Color makes websites look more crisp and clearer then the iPad does.

But perhaps you might think of letting the kids play with it and you do something you really want to do. The kids story books are easy enough for the kids to do on their own. Check out Zoe and Miles in this video using the nook! Now this video is not the best quality. I had some lighting issues and a 2 and 3 year old that wanted their turn in the spotlight. So watch and enjoy!

Other Nook Color Features:

I love listening to Pandora
I love playing sodoku or the crossword puzzles
I love the color touch screen and that it remembers my place if I put the book down for a while
I love that I can share my reading experience from the Nook Color over social media such as twitter and facebook.

Charitable Holiday Giving VTech V.Reader #Giveaway

October 22, 2010 by Momstart 443 Comments

vtech_thumbI give to charity about four times a year, sometimes more depending on how much of the review products have stacked up in my garage. The donations are usually around 1500.00 or more in value and it’s because of companies like VTech that I’m able to make a difference in my community. Most companies send me something to review and it is my decision to donate it at the end of the review, but some go the extra mile and send me something that I can review and something that I can giveaway to a charity. Hospitals and places that care for children will not take toys that have been opened so receiving something that I can give directly to charity always excites me. Even last year, VTech was one of my largest contributors for Charitable Giving. They provided me three cases of toys to give. Thank You VTech.

This year, they have starting the giving even earlier than last year. For every 50 entries (comments or trackbacks) on this giveaway post, VTech will donate 1 product to a charity selected in a poll by VTech Fans on our Facebook Page  the week of Oct. 25. (up to 3 for each review blogger hosting this giveaway) It may not seem like much but really any donation can make a difference in your community no matter how small.

VTech V.Reader

Just like the adult readers, the Vtech V.reader reads aloud but as it reads the words highlight so your child can follow along and learn word recognition. It helps with phonics, and word recognition. There are certain words that if they click on them then it takes them to a definition of the word. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention it has a touch screen that works really well. And with my daughter’s knowledge of the stylus she found it and started using it in no time. My kids are so used to touch screens that they think the TV should be a touch screen.

Borders Premium Membership and Kobo eReader Giveaway

October 2, 2010 by Momstart 690 Comments

Borders is a fun place to go for more than just books. They have story time, author book signings, and toys. One thing that is nice, is if you are shopping for the kids in the kids section they have a set of toys the kids can entertain themselves. I also love to get a cup of Seattle’s Best Coffee when I’m in there. Between those two wonderful parts of Borders Book Store I could lose track of time in there. I love looking at children’s books and cookbooks and my husband loves looking at science fiction. We used to look through the book store after having dinner out at the mall. Now that we have kids though, time just seems to get away from us much faster.

You know I love to save money and use any points programs that I can so we love to sign up for Memberships, even when we have to pay for them. Last time I was at Borders shopping for books and rainy day activities for the kids I signed up for the free rewards program. I at the time didn’t understand the difference between the free rewards program and their “Borders Rewards Plus” program, which for $20 per year delivers savings on nearly all Borders merchandise, and free shipping on virtually all online orders. Speaking of on-line orders, did you know that Borders has their own ereader? The Borders Kobo eReader is priced at 129.99. It is lightweight and compact, and comes preloaded with 100 classic books.

rewardsBorders Rewards Benefits:

Both forms offer a rich array of benefits and savings, such as exclusive in-store and online discounts which I love, personal shopping days, free Seattle’s Best coffee, a free birthday gift, and Borders Bucks. In addition to all of those wonderful benefits:

· Members of the free, enhanced program receive 30 percent off the list price of hardcover bestsellers and free shipping on online orders of $25 or more.

· Members of the Borders Rewards Plus program receive 40 percent off the list price of hardcover bestsellers, 20 percent off the list price of select hardcovers, 10 percent off the purchase price of most everything else — and free shipping on all online orders.

Be sure to follow Borders on Twitter and like Borders on Facebook.
