Doughnuts So Good You’ll Fight Over Them: Entemann’s Red Velvet

June 17, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

My husband loves doughnuts. Doughnut shaped cakes, towers of doughnuts, doughnuts with coffee, doughnut holes, and especially doughnuts with one of his favorite food groups-sprinkles. He grew up in California with the Entemann’s brand of baked goods and has been lamenting their scarcity in Texas ever since his family moved here. Luckily for him Entemanns is celebrating National Doughnut day, and yes has a new Red Velvet cake doughnut. We almost missed out, I had to sadly let Entemanns know that I could not find anywhere close to me to find their delicious treats, and they graciously offered to ship us some.

This is how our doughnut tasting went down:

Today, a package arrived and I could hear him excitedly exclaim from the kitchen “A package is here for you!!!”. I asked him who it was from and he said “It is for you, and says MomStart…but it is mine.” “How do you figure it is yours then?” I asked him as he was protectively clutching the box to his chest. “It’s mine, I know it…these are my doughnuts.” And he began ripping into the corners. Several minutes of squabbling over who gets to open what of the heavily sealed box first, sure enough it was a box of the new Red Velvet Cake doughnuts-‘his’ doughnuts.

As our home’s professional doughnut taster- here is his review:

These rich red velvet cake coated doughnuts with just the right sweetness glaze made every morsel delicious.  Soft moist and delicate outside hides the incredibly satisfying sweet taste within.  As I am one to stick to regular chocolate glazed donuts this was an eye opener.  My eyes saw this red cake donut and wanted to think strawberry not chocolate.  Once I tasted the first bite I was hooked and continued to pick at the box through the rest of the day and finished the last bit the next morning for breakfast.

He is totally right. These babies are addictive. I was the first to snag one out of the box as I knew it would be my first and only chance before the doughnut monster set in. I was trying to be reasonable and have the one doughnut as my diet splurge for the day. No less than 5 minutes after I finished my doughnut I snuck back into the kitchen special ops style to thieve another before Mack noticed. Super girly bonus-they are shaped a bit like flowers- win!

Mr. Rich Frosted Entenmann’s is Finding Mrs. Right – and You Can Help! – #Giveaway

By: Ashley

There is nothing quite like a sweet, delicious donut. I don’t always have a huge sweet tooth, but show me a donut, and I am all over it! When I was a kid, my mom would occasionally buy the bags of white powdered donuts for us to have as a dessert. Mmmm… my mouth is watering and I’m craving a donut just thinking about it! Entenmann’s was definitely a special occasion treat in my house growing up, and recently, with the big news about Mr. Rich Frosted, I’ve introduced them to my son. As you can see, he loves them too!

Have you heard the big news about Mr. Rich Frosted? He was the chocolate frosted donut created by Entenmann’s Bakery forty years ago. This is a big month for Mr. Rich Frosted. He’s celebrating the new year, the 400,000,000 Rich Frosted Donut coming off the production line (That is A LOT of donuts!), and the big news he will finally unveil Mrs. Rich Frosted! You can even visit Entenmann’s on Facebook to guess who you think the love of his Rich Frosted life is!

What’s your guess?

  • Glazed Buttermilk Donut?
  • Crumb Topped Donut?
  • Plain Donut?
  • Powdered Donut?

To help Mr. Rich Frosted celebrate his 40th birthday, and of course to celebrate the yummy Entenmann’s treats, Entenmann’s has started a “Rich 40 for 40” promotion running through mid-April on specially marked packages of Entenmann’s products. You can also visit them on Facebook where Entenmann’s will be doing giveaways. To get things started, we’re doing a giveaway here on MomStart too!

Chocolate Marshmallow Muffins Recipe

December 6, 2011 by Momstart 10 Comments

This recipe is actually a baking fail in my opinion. I found this recipe in the Entenmann’s Big Book of Baking recipe book and thought let’s give it a go. The first recipe we tried out of this book was an amazing recipe and well received by everyone. This one however, not so much. However, I’d love to know your opinion on it.

I used vanilla marshmallows

I mixed the dry ingredients together first

I may have over mixed

Each page has a full color photo of the recipe and I want to cook myself through the entire book.
