What do you think about when you think about going to church? I think too many people get wrapped up into the denominations and forget about the main reason for church Jesus. This Easter, which is one of the two most church attended days so let’s rethink church. Let’s talk about some of the Easter Traditions and including Jesus. Easter isn’t really about finding eggs and chocolate bunnies and Captain Chocolate (something done at my own church)… it is about finding love, hope and joy by opening your heart, reaching out and helping others, and embracing God’s love. The Key Words, embracing God’s Love and The United Methodist Church is encouraging us to Rethink church! Rethink Jesus. Jesus is EASTER!
Most of us think about Easter as a time to have ham, look for Easter Eggs and go to church, or scratch the church off your list completely and just look for eggs and eat as a family. Today we’re going to to talk about desserts and how The United Methodists want you to rethink church, Easter Eggs and Desserts.
United Methodist Church is really about finding deeper meaning in the Easter holiday season. So often people get hung up in superficial aspects of holidays, but the true meaning of the Easter holiday is about celebrating friends, family and God.
Rethink Church = Open Hearts Open Minds and Open Doors
Our hearts are full of love for our local communities and our world. Our service reflects that love.
We all think in different ways. But when we work together to serve others we share a common goal. .
Our doors swing wide, not just to let others in but so that we can all get out to serve our community.
Because of my huge sweet tooth, I’m going to concentrate on the desserts. I love desserts and you can make a dessert a family ordeal, meaningful and include God. The UMC has provided us with quite a few different recipes and ideas for making Easter more than the commercial idea. Check out these recipes to create new Easter memories that are more than just Easter Eggs, they are about loving each other and not judging and just experiencing life with each other in a positive way
