How To Train Your Dragon 2 Giveaway #HTTYD2

June 14, 2014 by Momstart 71 Comments

How to Train Your Dragon 2 looks like a really cute movie to take the kids to this summer. It’s on our list since it’s now in theaters, it came out yesterday. My son keeps askign all kind of questions about dragons because the advertising is done so well, it’s on their mind. Are they real, were they ever real, can I fly on one. I hope he never grows up because I love the innocence in him. I hope you’re as excited as he was when I showed him the first five minutes of the movie.

Dreamworks Animation’s New Short Film “Almost Home” In Honor of HOME

April 12, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

While I was on a media event with Dreamworks Animation I saw a glimpse of a new short film called “Almost Home”. 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks Animation have been busy! To get us all excited for the November release of their animated film, HOME, they have released this fun short film appropriately titled “ALMOST HOME”. We get a chance to get to know the adorable aliens before they hit the big screen! Boasting some great voices from Steve Martin, Jim Parsons, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna – this movie is sure to be a real treat! You can watch ALMOST HOME below!

When Earth is taken over by the overly-confident Boov, an alien race in search of a new place to call home, all humans are promptly relocated, while all Boov get busy reorganizing the planet. But when one resourceful girl, Tip (Rihanna), manages to avoid capture, she finds herself the accidental accomplice of a banished Boov named Oh (Jim Parsons). The two fugitives realize there’s a lot more at stake than intergalactic relations as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime.

Miles Wants Turbo FAST (Fast Action Stunt Team) On @Netflix & @DWAnimation #StreamTeam #TurboFAST

March 21, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

(we are Members of he Netflix streamteam and have a free subscription for a year)

My son was telling us last night that he really wants to see Turbo. With Netflix of course we can watch it, and with Netflix he can even watch Turbo Fast first installment and second installment. He loves race cars as I’m sure more little boys do, so if you’re not on Netflix yet here’s another reason to be!

As we race towards the second installment of DreamWorks Animation’s Turbo FAST (Fast Action Stunt Team) premieres on Netflix on April 4th, I had to let you know there will soon be new episodes of the action packed, laugh out loud, outrageous comedy will soon be available on Netflix.

 Turb_TB_eps101_001vert_OK TO USE NOW

The first ever Netflix original animated series, Turbo FAST, a 2D animated sequel to the film, amps up everything to the extreme – extreme adventures, extreme challenges and extreme excitement! In a departure from the Netflix pattern of debuting an entire series at one time,Turbo FAST debuted it first group of episodes this past Christmas and is launching future episodes timed to school holidays. Next up is Spring Break!

Turbo FAST is a fun filled high octane ensemble comedy series teaming Turbo, fresh off his Indy 500 victory tour, with a posse of adrenaline junkie fueled snail buddies who form the Fast Action Stunt Team (FAST) to meet exciting new challenges and go on daring new adventures.    Home base is Starlight City, complete with a customized snail racetrack, but FAST also ventures to familiar Los Angeles landmarks and beyond for all kinds of outrageous, fun-filled exploits.

Each member of FAST – Turbo, Whiplash, Burn, Smoove Move, White Shadow, Skidmark and Turbo’s brother, Chet – has their own snail power and catch phrase.  With their tricked-out shells and “souped up” attachments like a jet engine, fire-spitting afterburners and a killer sound system, the team attempts outrageous stunts, races on the coolest tracks, and takes on the craziest challengers, including masked Mexican lizards, surfer cockroaches, Sumo snails and a tiger beetle furious because he is no longer the fastest insect on the planet.

A Quick Interview with Tiffany Ward: Mr. Peabody & Sherman

March 9, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Tiffany Ward is the daughter of Jay Ward. She is one of the creators of the original series, served as an executive producer for Mr. Peabody & Sherman, whose job was to make sure the film stayed "true to the integrity of the characters." When she was approached by Rob Minkoff ten years before the film’s release, she was enthused by his intention to respect the legacy: "What better caretaker for the characters could we ask for than Rob." Lengthy pursuit to make the adaptation "perfect" took them a long time, but she was pleased with the end result, which stayed "very true to the original cartoon. And here is a very short interview with her that I had last month.

How long was it in your heart to foresee this project?

Ms. Tiffany Ward: Well, actually, my dad died way too young, in 1989. And I’ve been running the company 24 years. So, somehow I had a vision when I came in and I always wanted to do a Mr. Peabody and Sherman movie. But I found that everything has its time and when the things come together in the right way, which they have with this team and DreamWorks Animation, it becomes magical then. So, this was the right time for this property.

MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN

Can you tell us how you decided on Ty Burell as Mr. Peabody?

Ms. Tiffany Ward: I think it was Bill Damaschke’s idea to cast Ty Burrell . Ty Burrell was not included in that first group. For a variety of reasons, the ones that we had looked at first didn’t work out, didn’t make sense, weren’t quite right.

image

What are your thoughts on looking for talent in an animated film?

Ms. Tiffany Ward: In my experience working live action versus animation that when you cast an actor in live action, particularly a well known actor, but even one who isn’t as well known, you sort of get the value of that entire person’s being in terms of their appeal.

So, for instance, you could cast Bill Murray in a movie where he acts like a jerk and people go along with it because it’s Bill Murray. And there’s just something likable about him in the way that he smiles or the twinkle in his eye and you sort of go with it. But in an animated film, that appeal comes partly obviously from the animation, but it also has to come from the voice.

And something that Ty specifically brought, I think, that we really needed in this character was this incredible warmth in his voice. And some of the other actors that we thought were going to be right because they sounded very intellectual and they had a sort of an emotional restraint and all the stuff that you associate with him either sounded flat or nasty.

And somehow Ty, even when he was being emotionally withholding and not doing what we wanted him to do, as Mr. Peabody, he had a sort of a lovable quality to his voice. It’s interesting how much is held in the voice.

10 Historical Reasons to Go See Mr. Peabody and Sherman #MrPeabody

February 26, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

Mr. Peabody and Sherman comes out in theaters March 7th and I say go see it. I laughed a lot and the great part about it is that there is humor for the kids and there is even more humor for adults and even more humor for history buffs. Mr. Peabody is a genius, he’s the smartest dog ever and the smartest being ever. Using his large brain he created the WABAC. And as the name suggests it’s a time machine so as you can guess much of the movie is traveling through time. Which is why I came up with 10 historical reasons to watch Mr. Peabody and Sherman. You might even want to brush up on your historical knowledge on these guys!

Despicable Me 2 Review #DespicableMe2

July 2, 2013 by Momstart 4 Comments

A few nights ago the kids and I went to the theater to see the movie Despicable Me 2. I was a little concerned because we haven’t seen Despicable Me before, but guess what, it’s ok. We didn’t need to see it, the previews told us all we needed to know to see it. We watched it in 3D and I loved it. The whole family loved it. We left the theater with everyone talking about the movie and how they can’t wait for me to get it for the house. Meaning, they expect us to get it on Blu-ray when it’s released. They would probably be happy just going back to the theater too. LOL…

The effects were amazing. There is a scene in the movie where they were blowing bubbles and they looked so real like you could pop them. I was really impressed with the 3D effects.

image

In Despicable Me 2 Gru is recruited by the AVL (the Anti-villain League). They need someone that thinks like a villain to help them catch a villain. He tries to tell them no, but I think it’s his children that convince him that he needs to do it. And he was excited to tell them about it. His girls are really excited for him and the movie that they made was so good. It has rockets, cool cars and a lipstick Taser.

image

Oh and of course minions, lots and lots of minions. Minions that clean, Minions that care for the kids, minions that cook and minions that just do everything. I love those minions just like I love my minions. And my minions loved Despicable me.

I’m really not a huge fan of rehashing the story for you, but what you need to know is that it’s a great family movie and appropriate. No language, the humor is clean, I mean there are bottom jokes. If you have kids you know that but humor is already coming out of their mouths so this movie is so appropriate. I can’t think of anything negative to say about it. What I can say is YOU HAVE TO GO SEE IT!

Ty Burrell as Mr. Peabody DreamWorks Animation Movie

April 4, 2013 by Momstart 5 Comments

Ty Burrell as Mr. Peabody? Can’t Wait!

By: Ashley

When I was little I used to watch the old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons that usually played during Bozo the Clown! Some of you out there might remember the other cartoon called Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Well, thanks to DreamWorks, a whole new generation will be able to laugh at the dynamic duo.

clip_image002

Looking at the cast, I know this is going to be a hilarious movie. As a huge fan of Modern Family, I’m super excited to see that Ty Burrell will be voiding Mr. Peabody! In the short clip I was able to see while visiting DreamWorks back in February, he really brings the character to life. When you add in Max Charles (3 Stooges), Leslie Mann, Stanley Tucci, Mel Brooks, and Stephen Colbert (just to name a few), you can pretty much rest assured this is going to be GREAT! I guess the worst part is, we have to wait almost a whole year to see it! Mr. Peabody and Sherman is scheduled to hit theaters March 7, 2014.

A big thank you to 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks Animation for inviting us to The Croods Parent Blogger Summit where I saw a sneak peek of Mr.Peabody and Sherman.

Ashley is a mom, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and former teacher working to navigate through the mysterious world of Mommyia. Read more about her adventures at Momicles and follow her @Momicles2010
