Are Toy Labels Accurate? Baby Looney Tunes Baby Bugs Giveaway

June 1, 2010 by Momstart 27 Comments

Happily Healthy is teamed up with Warner Brothers and Mom Logic to bring new mothers answers to baby questions. Happily Healthy offers fun, and engaging ways to nurture your baby over a series of videos and posts on Mom Logic.

Dra. Aliza touches on a topic that I have wondered about many times. I’ve even been told that toy companies make the age requirement a year older than what is actually required but that you should judge by your child’s developments. Here is what she has to say on Are Toy Labels Accurate?

Birth to 12 months: Pick toys that stimulate your baby’s senses of sight, sound and touch. Think of toys of different colors that make noises, and are textured. Consider toys such as rattlers, blocks, and soft interactive toys. Above all, be sure to match the toy to your baby’s personality. For example, some babies respond to texture over color and sound and vice versa. A simple toy is really all an infant needs since he does not require all the bells and whistles that a toddler does.

Toddlers: When it comes to toys, this is the age where the fun really begins. Your little one is a bundle of energy and will want to get into anything and everything. You will notice as your baby grows, he or she will become more physical and will have a tendency to tug, push and pull. This is the stage where your toddler’s curiosity is at its peak and he will want to touch and taste and grasp onto anything in his sight. The best bet for toys at the toddler stage are those such as sing-along toys or toys with music, building blocks, or toys with buttons that your little one can push or pull. And, because your toddler’s curiosity is at it’s highest, definitely look for those toys that both entertain and educate, as each day is a new day to learn, discover, explore, and absorb.

For the health and safety of your baby, it is important to pay close attention to the age recommendations made by toy manufacturers. In general, the younger your baby is, the more wary you should be of toys with small, detachable parts as these can cause choking – the leading cause of toy-related deaths. If the toy requires more of a ‘hands-on’ interaction – such as pulling or pushing – it may be too advanced for younger babies and, potentially, be disappointing for them. Also, be cautious with any toys that require a type of physical agility that your baby or toddler hasn’t yet quite mastered.

How to Choose Diapers, Baby Looney Tunes Light Up Plush Giveaway

May 25, 2010 by Momstart 50 Comments

Happily Healthy is teamed up with Warner Brothers and Mom Logic to bring new mothers answers to baby questions. Happily Healthy offers fun, and engaging ways to nurture your baby over a series of videos and posts on Mom Logic.

Dra. AlizaHere is some information on how to choose diapers from Dra. Eliza that you can find on Mom Logic:

If you’d like to learn more about the different types of cloth diapers available today, here are a few highlights:

  • All-in-Ones / All-in-Twos: Think of these as cloth versions of the disposable diapers. These come as one piece. The distinction is that the All-in-Twos have an extra insert that serves as an absorbent layer, while the All-in-Ones have the insert and outer covering set into a single piece so you’re ready to go.
  • Fitted Diapers: As the name implies, these are fitted at the edges to help prevent leaks. But be aware that this option requires a diaper cover.
  • Flat and Pre-fold: Yes, these are the kind of diapers you think they are — the old-fashioned kind! They are actually made to be a bit more convenient nowadays, using snaps instead of pins. However, they are not fitted and do require folding. There are always the pre-fold options that offer more cloth and therefore more absorbency. They are by far the cheapest option for cloth diapering. Bear this in mind if cost is a factor in your choice.
  • Pocket Diapers: These are similar to the All-in-Twos option, only the inserts go into a pocket vs. sitting in the diaper. The best part is that you can use any natural and organic material as an insert for added absorption and protection.
  • One-Size Diapers: The name says it all! These are one-size diapers which you can take from infancy through potty training. For moms with older and younger kids still in the diaper phases, it doesn’t get any more convenient than a one-size diaper.

Baby Looney Tunes Blanket Giveaway

May 13, 2010 by Momstart 51 Comments

I have always had a thing for Baby Looney Tunes characters. The little Taz was always my favorite as he just ran around in a blur spouting out things no one could understand. He’s so cute. Babies are cute too and they need so much attention and love for quite a while. My two are two and three now and finding so much independence it makes me a little sad.

Baby Looney Tunes Happily Healthy Mom Blogger

April 27, 2010 by Momstart 8 Comments

I am super excited to tell you about a new program I’m going to be a part of. For next two months I’m going to be working with Warner Brothers (love them) and promoting Baby Looney Tunes Happily Healthy. I introduced the Happily Healthy Program back in September with a Looney Tunes Baby Book written in English and Spanish by Dr. Aliza A Lifshitz. Dra. Aliza works to educate lower income mother’s on the do’s and don’ts of taking care of their babies.   dra aliza and baby looney tunes

About the Program

Warner Brothers and Dra. Aliza have been working together and we want to raise awareness of their efforts to teach mothers how to take care of their children. Happily Healthy offers fun, and engaging ways to nurture your baby over a series of videos and posts on Mom Logic. One of the most engaging tactics is that you can ask her questions directly though an e-mail contact form. Ensuring you are getting the answers directly from the expert herself. For Spanish speaking mother’s, all the information can be found at VidaySalud.com.  Information can also be found by following Baby Looney Tunes on twitter and becoming a fan of Baby Looney Tunes on Facebook.

What it means for you?

My readers will get to win Looney Tunes themed products starting the week of Mother’s Day. At the end of the campaign, I’ll be giving away a complete nursery makeover to someone who comments on any post in this series. I wish I had discovered blogging before I had children, or before I was through having children, I would love to win this myself. Isn’t it beyond adorable?

Tweety Circles - room shot

Not only are there prizes but this is an opportunity for you to ask questions about taking care of kids. What do you want to know? What is something you struggle with. I’ll tell you, I need help getting my kids to stop sucking on their thumbs. I hate to punish them for something we let them do for three years, it just seems wrong. So I need all the advice you can provide, helping me curb the habit.

This post is part of a campaign with Warner Brothers. I may be receiving products to facilitate reviews in the future.

Baby Looney Tunes are spreading happily healthy

September 7, 2009 by Momstart 1 Comment

BabyTaz Expert Dra. Aliza is teaming up with Baby Looney Tunes to promote healthy, happy babies. Baby Taz is inspiring me to lose weight just looking at him on the scale. 😉

Baby Looney Tunes are ambassadors for the program working with Hispanic families to provide more healthy opportunities.  The partnership will provide new and expecting mothers with fun, engaging and educational ways to best care for and nurture their babies.  Launching in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, a special event was held in Los Angeles, CA, to commemorate the partnership.

The partnership will also include the launch of a two new Baby Looney Tunes branded sections:

  • On Mom Logic: www.momlogic.com/babylooneytunes
  • On Vida Y Salud (Spanish Version): www.vidaysalud.com/babylooneytunes

Here is a preview of  a Baby Looney Tunes baby book for promotional distribution

page1 page2page3

page4page5

The book is very cute and in Spanish and English. Loony Tunes are very cute at presenting healthy habits to teach our young ones. Being a parent is hard and having help learning how to do it is important. It doesn’t come easy and to some it doesn’t come naturally at all. I commend Looney Tunes, Warner Brothers, Mom Logic, and Dra. Aliza on a job well done.

The partnership, with its tagline, “Happily Healthy,” will provide new and expecting mothers access to a wealth of resources including print, online and multimedia interactions in both English and Spanish-languages, all centered on “fun.”

The first collaboration between Baby Looney Tunes and Dra. Aliza is Healthy, Fit and Fun, a whimsical story book featuring customized character art and illustrations with useful tips, in English and Spanish, for mothers on how to keep their little ones safe and healthy.

Dra. Aliza’s recently launched website, VidaySalud.com, will provide Spanish-speaking mothers a variety of informational and interactive learning opportunities on a branded landing page. The site will feature instructional video tips, downloadable wallpapers, screensavers, stickers, and quizzes on health and nutrition for babies, all featuring the lovable Baby Looney Tunes characters. Also featured will be news, future event information, photos, videos, games and blogs.

Momlogic.com, the ultimate destination and online community for moms, will host the English-language content, information and resources. The site will also feature a weekly Q&A where Dra. Aliza will answer readers’ questions, and weekly promotions on its Family and Diet and Health channel pages. Momlogic.com’s commitment to providing topical stories, educational resources, breaking news and interactive opportunities for mothers will be an ideal location for these fun and informative resources and will enable both mothers and their babies to grow in knowledge and in health.
