One of my favorite items on #mychristmaslist this year, are these dolls. After receiving a Global Girl doll as a sample from Three Daughters International, LLC I decided to do a little research by cruising a well known store that is entirely dedicated to one doll. I also went to other retail stores as well as searched online, which of course means lots of reading. I also had the wonderful opportunity to observe a gaggle of girls during a sleep over playing with the Global Girl that my daughter chose named Marcela as well as other dolls. In the end, the best information I got was from watching and listening to the girls be girls and just play with them. It was that simple.
Why do we try to find dolls that match our daughters? Why not search for dolls from around the world? Dolls they will learn culture and diversity from. It is OK to be different and each person has their own story to tell.
Global Girls are that doll! Each girl shares her own innovative and modern day story of what it’s like in their part of the globe. There are 6 dolls from around the world with corresponding fictional books. They have modern features such as pierced ears, ethnic and appropriate attire and diverse character features. These dolls measure 21 inches tall.
My daughter chose Marcela from Argentina because Marcela is dressed in a pink party dress and has cute pink earring that my daughter couldn’t wait to wear! She enjoyed reading Marcela’s story and learning about the culture in a part of the world she has never been. Each of these books is as unique as the dolls themselves and after reading the stories she now has her list of dolls that she wants which is …. Well…. All of them.
