Autumn Dinners in a Flash with Schwan’s!

October 23, 2012 by Momstart 9 Comments

By Christine:

For over 55 years Schwan’s has paid visits to households like ours, delivering delicious, easy-to-prepare meals and friendly personalized service.  Schwan’s offers over 350 restaurant-quality products, all of which come with a 100% quality guarantee.  They are constantly searching to new ways to help busy families enjoy mealtime together.

IMG_1184Unlike other frozen foods, Schwan’s are flash frozen and kept at a constant temperature until it reaches your door to eliminate the freeze/thaw cycles that can affect food’s taste.  All their items are easily prepared, and go right from the freezer to the microwave, oven or grill.  Schwan’s also features handy meal kits, and many items can be prepared under 30 minutes, and feature convenient packaging with individual wrapped portions so that there’s no waste.

As times and technology have changed so has Schwan’s, evolving to keep up with the demands of today’s consumer.  Now you can place your order online, in person directly from your Route Sales representative during your regular visit or over the phone.  Your food arrives via convenient home delivery, freezer bag drop off or UPS mail delivery.

I was given an opportunity to order a few items from the vast Schwan’s menu to try out an review.  Since my husband and I have worked very hard recently to loose the last of our respective "baby weight" I opted for items from the LiveSmart line Schwan’s offers.

LiveSmart offers the following advantages:

  • Delicious, real, better-for-you food
  • Minimal additives or preservatives
  • Moderate calories, sodium and fat
  • Zero grams trans fat

We enjoyed the following items for several meals:

Oven Roasted Chicken Bites #494
Roasted Sweet Potatoes # 774
MicorSteam Baby Broccoli Florets # 870
Oatmeal Raisin Frozen Cookie Dough # 652

In particular I love how you receive food for more then one meal in each package.  We received enough for two complete meals for our family of four, and a third meal’s worth of broccoli.  Also, the cookies are break and bake style, so you can bake as many, or as few as you want.

The chicken was great, very tender and juicy with a little seasoning that didn’t require any sauce or additional spices. The sweet potatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft inside with just the right amount of sweetness.  The broccoli featured mostly the florists, which is my favorite part of the broccoli with the best taste.

Since I work part-time we saved these meals for days both of us were working.  We really enjoyed our Schwan’s meal(s) and appreciate the quality and ease of preparation.  Also, the delivery was simple & straight forward.
