clip_image001“We’re thrilled to help families celebrate the season together – Chuggington-style! – with this latest release,” said Erin Carter, Executive Director of Brand Marketing, Anchor Bay Entertainment.  “Filled with winter-themed fun and important life lessons, ‘Icy Escapades’ is sure to be a hit with families at the holidays and all year long.”

Important Halloween Pedestrian Safety Tips from NHTSA and Chuggington

October 20, 2012 by Momstart 12 Comments

This year, according to a recent study by the National Retail Foundation, a record number of people will be celebrating the haunted holiday by passing out candy, trick-or-treating, attending Halloween parties, and more (a total of nearly 170 million people- or 7 out of 10 Americans).

clip_image001

With more people on the streets and sidewalks than ever before, it is important that children and adults alike be aware of proper traffic safety procedures. To help families stay safe this Halloween and beyond, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Ludorum, the creators of the hit television series Chuggington, have partnered to create a children’s traffic safety campaign that introduces pedestrian safety in an easy-to-teach, easy-to-comprehend way. The ‘Think Safe, Ride Safe, Be Safe!’ campaign includes important pedestrian safety tips for parents and children you may find valuable as you head out on the hunt for candy this season. Here are a few important tips from the campaign to keep in mind:

This Halloween…

· Walk on the sidewalk

· If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic

· Use a crosswalk if you can to cross the street

· When crossing the street, look left-right-left for cars, and continue to keep looking for cars as you cross

Chuggington Die-Cast Chugger Championship Deluxe Race Playset

November 13, 2011 by Momstart 271 Comments

When I was at the Time To Play Event I saw everything that Tomy (used to be Learning Curve) is putting out this Holiday Season the way of Trains. It’s an exciting line up for boys like my son that just love anything with wheels. Miles has three train sets already. One being a plastic Thomas set, one being a wooden Chuggington set we got last year and the last being a LEGO set. He plays with them all and the cars go on all the tracks even thought they don’t fit. Size is no limit to children’s imagination. They remind me of that every day. Anyways, new toys from Learning Curve include:

The Dinosaur Train Time Tunnel Mountain Set

image

Thomas’s Percy at the Diesel Works Set

image

And the big one, the Chuggington Die-Cast Chugger Championship Rev’n Race Railway Deluxe Playset. Now, our kids are fan of all three shows, however, Chuggington is the top choice when it comes to what we watch. We watch Chuggington all the time.

image

This year, we’re getting the Chuggington Die-Cast Chugger Championship Rev’n Race Railway Deluxe Playset for Miles for Christmas. It was sent to us on behalf of the Chuggington Brand for us to review and it’s been impossible to review it without Miles being home. I really want this to be a surprise so I’ve finally decided that it’s just time to host this giveaway.

Chuggington Die-Cast Chugger Championship Deluxe Race Playset

Kids will love racing engines around this multi-level continuous loop track layout to win the championship trophy. Turn the crank to start the race and watch the Chugger Championship engines race around the track. Set includes Chugger Championship Koko and Harrison. Ages 3 and up. SRP: $59.99

This set is a HUGE set. It was so big at the time to play event it was impossible to get a god picture of. Actually, I’m not even sure it was on the table. It is kid-powered meaning it does not require batteries. Place Koko in the automatic gate and start cranking to watch her zoom through the track! When Koko wins, the trophy pops up as she completes a victory lap and refuels at the fuel depot. Miles has a toy for cars similar to this so I know just by looking at it that it’s going to be a HUGE hit. It’s Trains!

Also in the Chuggington Line up are the new Chuggington “Chugger Championship” DVD and fun puzzle featuring some of your favorite Chuggington characters and destinations.

Chugger Championship DVD

In “The Chugger Championship,” the traintastic trio is ready to put their “wheels to the rails” for the biggest race in Chuggington!  These six, action-packed adventures will have the whole family cheering. Young fans join Wilson, Brewster and Koko as they prepare for a test, invent a new contest and pick up a fun hobby, while learning about the importance of accountability and responsibility.  Along the way, the three friends – and viewers at home – discover that a true champion isn’t always the one who finishes first!

This giveaway has ended. Congratulations to the winner, Karen.

Chuggington Wooden Railway Over & Under Starter Set Giveaway

May 22, 2011 by Momstart 180 Comments

I have a little Chuggington Chugger on my hands now. Somehow my son knows all the names of the trains, ok, I know how, he is addicted to watching Chuggington. We received the Chuggington Wooden Railway Over & Under Starter Set from Learning Curve and just the anticipation of opening the box made his day. Wilson and Koko, a boy and a girl train both come in this wooden starter set and that was PERFECT for Zoe and Miles! (Zoe loves the Koko is purple)

image

Boys and trains, trains and boys, they just go together like peanut butter and jelly. If it’s got wheels, it’s in his hands and everything is a track, so it’s nice for mom when he has a track to actually play on. Plus this wooden track is so easy for him to put together and build his own circles that when the original shape happens to come apart, I don’t hear Mommy, Come fix it for me all day long. He’s content to play on his own.

image

I helped him assemble it the first time.

image

As far as wooden train sets go, I would have to say that the Chuggington Wooden Railway Over & Under Starter Set is a great value. The set comes with 25 pieces, one of them being a clock tower creating an two level play area for the kids to enjoy. The two train engines, Wilson and Koko are also wooden, it’s perfect for ages 3 and up, just right up Miles’ alley.

image

Of course it’s great for little girl Chuggers too!

The Chuggington Wooden Railway features a series of robust, brightly colored engines, starter train sets and innovative modular buildings and tunnels all constructed with classic, high-quality wood. Learning Curve was quite smart, or kind to parents I say when they made the decision to make the Chuggington Wooden Railway expandable and compatible with all other major wooden railway toys. Thank you Learning Curve!

Chuggington Chuggers To The Rescue Giveaway

April 14, 2011 by Momstart 103 Comments

Miles has a new favorite DVD. For a while we were always watching The Little Engine that Could, but now, it’s Honk your horns mom, let’s watch Chuggington. Funny story, we were in the bathroom because it’s a place he likes to play with his cars, and he was playing with his Mack Truck pretending it was Action Hero from one of the episodes of Chuggington. He was ADORABLE.

Chuggers To the RescueWe received Chuggington: Chuggers to the Rescue and have watched all six episodes at least twice if not three times. After watching it, I’m even quite impressed with it. I really enjoyed watching it with the kids, the music is easy to listen to and being a parent that’s important in a FAVORITE children’s DVD.

In “Chuggers To The Rescue,” everyone’s favorite trainee trio is set to save the day in six horn-tooting episodes that deliver action and laughter, while teaching viewers gentle lessons about emergency preparedness and responsibility.  My kids already know all of the train’s names. I wish they were still awake with me so I could ask them, but then I guess that’s what a good press release is for. LOL.

Through their exciting adventures and daring escapades, complete with jetpacks and storm machines, Wilson, Brewster and Koko help one another out of jams, learn emergency rescue skills and take on new responsibilities, while they – and young trainees at home – learn about patience, accountability, following instructions and how to get the job done!  The action-packed DVD features appearances from special “Chuggington” friends, Calley, Dunbar, Zephie and Mtambo. I think one thing they really learned was about responsibility.
