Laugh Giggle and Dance with Sandra Boynton’s Frog Trouble Giveaway #FrogTrouble

October 4, 2013 by Momstart 33 Comments

Frog Trouble, the new children’s country album from Grammy nominated and bestselling children’s author, Sandra Boynton. When my children were babies and toddlers, my favorite books to read were the Sandra Boynton books. I loved how fun they were and the monsters were so cute. I could easily make the kids laugh and loved them sitting in my laps. We don’t have the board book anymore because we’re moving into chapter books but it’s a part of their lives that I will always remember and this new album brings back those memories with silly songs.

About the CD

Grammy nominated and bestselling children’s author, songwriter and music producer, Sandra Boynton, presents her first Country album, Frog Trouble. The album features 12 original songs by Boynton, arranged and mixed with Michael Ford.

Boynton produced the tracks mostly in Nashville, with renowned session musicians and an All-Star roster. Each artist was hand-picked by Boynton for this retro sounding album, including Dwight Yoakam, Fountains of Wayne, Mark Lanegan, Kacey Musgraves, Ryan Adams, Ben Folds, Brad Paisley, Alison Krauss, Josh Turner, Darius Rucker, Linda Eder, and Falls Mountain Cowboys.

With composer Michael Ford, Boynton has written and produced five albums, three of which have been certified Gold. She also received a GRAMMY nomination for the Boynton/Ford album Philadelphia Chickens. Frog Trouble has tracks ranging from Country to Bluegrass to Rockabilly to Honkytonk to Blues. It’s truly an album for everyone or, as the cover says, "For ages one to older than dirt."

OOOPS, The Jimmies CD and DVD Review and #Giveaway extension

October 27, 2009 by Momstart 73 Comments

I posted this giveaway about a month earlier than I was supposed to. This DVD and CD combo is only exclusive to Barnes and Noble. I am extending and reposting the giveaway because I posted it incorrectly.

MAKE YOUR OWN SOMEDAY, which receives its national re-release on November 3:

children's music

Product Description
This much anticipated first album from New York City’s favorite kiddy rockers,THE JIMMIES, has already met with wide acclaim and plenty of toe tapping. This infectious young group offers something for all ages with music running the gamut from rock, funk, pop and blues to reggae, hip-hop and even Dixieland… "It’s real music…with kid-appropriate themes.
"Maybe my favorite band, kid’s music or otherwise." Clever lyrics, catchy hooks and sophisticated melodies add up to an album full of songs you won t mind getting stuck in your head…

Trying Funny Stuff captures The Jimmies’ signature blend of sophisticated imagery, laugh-out-loud humor and subtle lessons (like how to sneeze into your arm, set a tadpole free and layer in the wintertime).
Also on November 3, The Jimmies will make available nationally for the first time their Parents’ Choice and Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Award-winning debut CD, Make Your Own Someday. The critically acclaimed album—which was initially distributed out of Albert’s living room—garnered national visibility as it hit #1 twice on Sirius/XM Radio’s kids’ music chart and earned the band spots performing at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Festival in 2008.

My Description

The Jimmies CD and DVD is more my kind of music than for my kids. I love it. I mean it’s up beat and a lot of fun. I’m not saying my kids didn’t enjoy it but as a parent that doesn’t want to fall asleep during the day this was perfect. The DVD inspired me too. There was educational aspects to the well done video. It was also very whimsical. So it was captivating and spell binding at the same time. Another reason why I love spending time with my kids, singing, dancing and all the giggles therein.

Imagination Movers For Those about to Hop CD #giveaway

July 17, 2009 by MomStart 160 Comments

imaginationmovers

The final CD of the night of CD Giveaways is Imagination Movers new CD For Those About To Hop.

From a fuzzy mom’s memory:

Smitty My Friend He’s Playing his Guitar

Scott’s got his goggle to help him see far

Dave’s over there underneath the red hat

and My name is Rich I go rat a tat tat.

image My Daughter calls them the Jump Music. We love Imagination Movers and have loved them even before they had a TV show on the Disney Channel. We loved them before Disney Records sent us their new CD to preview and giveaway to two lucky readers of Mom Start. We already have their Juice Box Heroes CD.

We love them as a family because they are about moving. We all like to dance in the living room to this music and it inspires us old people to be silly. I mean, Andrew and I aren’t old we know that, we’re probably around the same age as these guys in the band. It’s just odd to think of that. I still feel like I’m too young to be a mother let alone a mother of two.

I’m not quite sure if my husband thinks it’s car music or not but it is get up off your butt early morning music for mom and the kids. This is a band we can love and we will always purchase their CD’s. My husband wants to take the kids to Disneyworld next time they are on tour there.

Imagination Movers: For Those About to Hop

About Imagination Movers:

The Movers – Rich, Scott, Dave and Smitty — began in New Orleans in 2003 and now are fast-rising stars on the national kids music scene thanks to their combination of radio-friendly songs, kid-friendly themes and dynamic live shows. In concert, the Movers teach high-energy dances, play games with the audience and make music on their one-of-a-kind trashcan drumset. Kids and parents help perform new kids classics like “Shakable You,” “The Medicine Song,” “What’s in the Fridge?” and “I Want My Mommy (Time for Bed).”

Funky Kidz CD giveaway.

April 29, 2009 by MomStart 63 Comments

fk FUNKY KIDZ was created by Lauren and her 12 year old son.  The album features 12 of New Orleans’ finest artists (Nevilles, The Radiators, George Porter Jr., Theresa Andersson and more)doing funked up covers of classic kids songs we all know and love like Zip a Dee Doo Dah, Yellow Submarine and the funkiest rendition of Hokey Pokey you ever heard. Listening to this CD with my daughter has been quite a treat.

I love the Hokey Pokey, I have been doing it with her since she was 6 months old. In her swimming class when she was six months old we would do it in the pool. Now she’s getting balance and learning how to pick her feet up. It’s just great dancing to this song. It’s so fun.

We also love You’ve got a friend in me. She bounces and sways as we sing together. My son, he bounces and squeals. I love it it’s so cute.

A portion of proceeds for CD sales goes toward fostering music education in New Orleans. Check out www.funkykidzmusic.com
