The Tom & Jerry Show Premieres 4/8 on Cartoon Network

March 29, 2014 by Momstart 2 Comments

Premiering Wednesday April 9 at 5:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on Cartoon Network, The Tom and Jerry Show is a fresh take on the iconic frenemies that preserves the look, core characters and sensibilities of the original theatrical shorts.

clip_image002

Comprised of two 11-minute elements, each episode will feature Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse plotting against each other—with Tom’s determination matched only by Jerry’s own cleverness in evading capture. But this time the cartoon mayhem will not be limited to only Tom and Jerry’s familiar suburban setting. In The Tom and Jerry Show, the title characters’ nonstop game of cat and mouse will expand to also include more fantastic worlds, from a witch’s cabin to a mad scientist’s lab.

The Tom and Jerry Show kicks-off with the following stories on Wednesday, April 9:

    • "Spike Gets Skooled" – Tom gets Spike sent to obedience school, and Jerry is left without a protector. When Spike returns, Tom tries hard to get Spike to revert to his old ways. Jerry fights back to make sure that Spike keeps his cool.
    • "Cats Ruffled Furniture" – Tom is under strict orders to not wake the Witch sisters, but Jerry is set on getting Tom in trouble. When Tom uses the magic spell wand and makes all of the furniture come alive, he must get the help of Newt to make everything go back as it was.

Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!, The Looney Tunes Show, MAD) serves as executive producer on The Tom and Jerry Show. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation in conjunction with producers Darrell Van Citters and Ashley Postlewaite at Renegade Animation.

Ben 10 Toy Line Up & D3 Ben 10 Galactic Racing Nintendo DS

November 14, 2011 by Momstart 181 Comments

I had quite a unique opportunity when Time To Play invited me to their Time To Play Holiday Showcase two months ago. At that time it was really hard for me to start thinking about Christmas but here I am now ready and already feeling a bit behind in Holiday Shopping. Ben 10 is a special treat for our family because it’s the most memorable time our family had as a family as far as blogging trips go. My kids still talk about the trip D3 took us on to introduce us to their Holiday Christmas Line Up a few years ago, and that included Ben 10. So I had to share the Ben 10 Toy Line up for 2011 along with the newest D3 Video game Ben 10 Galactic Racing.

Bandai’s new line of toys based on BEN 10 ULTIMATE ALIEN, the hit boys action property which, now in its sixth year, continues to grow and find new fans each year and here is this year’s highlights.

Ben 10 Tech Blasterimage

(BANDAI AMERICA/Ages 6 years and up/Suggested Retail Price: $29.99/Available: Now)

Wield the most powerful weapon in the universe. State of the art battle gear is at your fingertips with this multi-function piece of alien tech which features sounds, lights and voices. Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Chest Badgeimage

(BANDAI AMERICA/Ages 6 years and up/Suggested Retail Price: $19.99/Available: Now)

Now kids can have all their favorite alien voices at their command with the new Ultimate Chest Badge. With a turn of a dial and a smack to the badge like Ben, they can hear the voice of their favorite characters from the Ben 10 Alien Force or Ben 10 Ultimate Alien series. The Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Chest Badge features 14 alien voices and spikes eject when the unity is pressed indicating Ultimate Alien mode.

  • Ben 10 Ultimate Ultimatrix image

(BANDAI AMERICA/Ages 6 years and up/Suggested Retail Price: $24.99/Available: Now)

The most advanced and aesthetically designed Ultimatrix to date. The detailed inlay of the watch and translucent materials let the wearer see the inner workings while being able to search for Azmuth’s secret signature. The newest Ultimatrix displays a sequence of lights and futuristic sounds allowing its owner to imagine the ultimate Ben 10 transformation! The Ben 10 Ultimate Ultimatrix features lights and sounds and is signed by Azmuth.

Ben 10 Revolution Ultimatrix

(BANDAI AMERICA/Ages 6 years and up/Suggested Retail Price: $6.99/Available: Now)

The Ultimatrix has gone Haywire and has mixed up the alien DNA! The new Haywire Action Figure series features Ultimate Aliens with unique DNA mixtures that have color mash-ups. Each 4” Haywire or normal Ultimate Alien figure comes with a mini figure. Other 4” figures come alone or with an accessory. Kids can place the mini alien figure on top of the Revolution Ultimatrix (sold separately), crank it up, and release to watch your favorite alien spin into action!

The Ben 10 Galactic Racing Game, this time featuring the Nintendo DS

ben 10 galactic racing

So all of the basic information is the same about D3’s Ben 10 Galactic Racing video game as the previous post I wrote. It’s the same premise, but made smaller and was harder for me to play. The Kids had no problem with it.

Key Features

  • Become a Champion! – Select a character and compete against opponents in a circuit of action-packed, high-speed races in increasingly challenging tracks filled with offensive and defensive pick-ups, where players earn awards along the way.
  • Enjoy a BEN 10 Multiplayer Experience Like Never Before – The first BEN 10 racing game allows players to compete against up to three friends to become the champion racer.
  • Race as Your Favorite Characters – Players can race as Ben, who can transform into aliens mid-race, or as other characters from the BEN 10 universe, each of which can use unique attacks themed to that character’s abilities. New alien hero Fasttrack makes his video game debut and as a DS exclusive, play as popular alien hero Diamondhead.
  • Fun and Challenging Grand Prix Tracks – Players can burn rubber on more than 12 distinct race tracks on three massive worlds. Players can also race in 12 fun karts, some based on vehicles seen in the BEN 10 series.
  • Exceptional Level of Authenticity – The game is based on the phenomenally-successful Cartoon Network original animated BEN 10 series and the game’s art style, sound effects and music are 100% authentic to the show.

Cartoon Network: The Secret Saturdays and The Marvelous Misadventures of FlapJack

November 4, 2009 by Momstart 224 Comments

D3 Publiser introduced my family to the cartoon the Secret Saturdays. I can’t tell you how much we actually like it. It’s embarrassing , or at least in my case. I can’t speak for my husband daughter and son. The cast is awesome and graphics are great because they aren’t over the top like most cartoons today. It’s just a plain cartoon with a plot line from Supernatural.

Cartoon Network sent me a review copy of The Secret Saturdays Volume 2 and a copy of The Marvelous Misadventures of FlapJack Volume 1.

Who are the Secret Saturdays?

The Secret Saturdays are Mom Drew, Dad Doc, and Zack the kids with the power over the cryptids. They are not your normal family because they don’t sit down together for dinner, they bond over action packed adventures. They find out if they are tough enough to stop VV Argost and his evil plan to get the Kur Stone. Mattel will be creating the toys and D3 published the video game.

The series follows the adventures of the Saturdays, a family of cryptozoologists that work to keep the truth about cryptids from getting out, in order to protect both the human race and the creatures themselves. The Saturdays travel the world searching for cryptids to study and battling twisted villains like the megalomaniac V.V. Argost. The series is influenced by the style of 60s-era Hanna-Barbara action series (such as Jonny Quest), and is combined with Jay Stephens’ own personal interest in cryptozoology. The series also airs on Teletoon in Canada.

Who is Flapjack?

Flapjack logo 02.png

Flapjack is a young boy raised in a talking whale named Bubbie. Flapjack leads a peaceful life until the duo rescue a pirate by the name of Captain K’nuckles, who tells Flapjack of Candied Island. Inspired by the adventurous pirate, Flapjack, File:Flapjack K'nuckles.jpgCaptain K’nuckles, and Bubbie get into strange predicaments and "misadventures" in search of Candied Island and the coveted title of "Adventurer." The three spend most of their time in Stormalong Harbor, where they earn money, eat candy, and get into misadventures.

Our 1 day Family Vacation in LA with D3 Publisher

October 16, 2009 by Momstart 1 Comment

My family had the wonderful opportunity to visit with D3 Publisher last weekend.  They flew our family down to the Los Angeles area for the weekend to show us their new video games. We got in to LAX around 9:30 and didn’t get to our hotel room until about 10pm. We stayed at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel which was really nice and they gave my kids Little People Toys. Anyways, the kids had fun playing in the hotel room before we settled down for bed. We’re pretty strict on our 7pm bed time at home, but this night we were all up until 11pm and we had some good family fun being silly in the hotel room.

dance

On Saturday they kept us very busy. We had a fun day down in Southern California. They loaded us and some other families onto a big coach bus and took us out to Irvine to see their games based on the "Secret Saturdays" and "Ben10" cartoons. They work with Papaya Studios and Cartoon Network to create some very fun games. The newest version of “Ben10” is going to be the first time that you can become all ten of Ben’s creatures. I’ve never seen the cartoon but the game quality is quite impressive on the Xbox 360. We had nannies available for us to use while we were there. The nannies spent the whole day with us and my kids fell in love with one of the nannies.

Next we went to House of Champions Academy of Martial Arts for their game based on the kids TV show "Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight". We had to recover from being on a bus for an hour when we arrived. The charter bus broke down on the LA highway during rush hour traffic. This is where D3 impressed me the most. They took as much care of us as they could while we were waiting for another bus. It was hot but they had plenty of water and they even provided entertainment.

d3

Aside from the good humor they also handed out a Nintendo DS to each mom. Inside each DS was a copy of Secret Saturdays: Beasts of the 5th Sun.. Finally we went back to Santa Monica (where our hotel was) for a screening of the new movie "Astro Boy" and a preview of the Astro Boy video game. The movie was good (and a rare treat – it was very clean). It  We were sitting in Dick Clark Studios previewing a movie. theater

Not only did I feel like someone that is very important but I felt like I was on a date. We haven’t had a date since my daughter was born. My kids were with the nannies and I was able to enjoy myself for an hour and watch a movie before anyone else gets to see it. I wasn’t able to finish the movie because my kids needed me but I liked what I saw. Interesting fact I didn’t know until we got back is that the original Astro Boy was the first anime ever, from back in 1952.

ab

We didn’t have much time before we had to catch our ride to LAX on Sunday morning, but since our hotel was right across the street from the beach, we made sure to walk over there and have a bit of fun. I think this is the first time the Zoe and Miles have been to a real ocean beach.

Over the course of the next few weeks I’ll be posting more about individual things we were able to see and do.. But this is my fully disclosed post. Thank you D3 for making a vacation possible and my husband wants to come back next year.

Starting Saturday June 13th Crayola and Cartoon Network are on Tour

June 13, 2009 by MomStart 1 Comment

The Get Animated Tour is in it’s fifth year this year. This 40-city tour is designed to motivate, energize and educate kids ages 6-14 about healthy living choices by using the power of Cartoon Network’s shows, characters and brands.

The tour will run all summer-long and feature interactive areas designed around select Cartoon Network series as well as activity areas for kids, including: the Crayola “Everything Imaginable” tent featuring three different Crayola activity stations; an FDA (Food and Drug Administration) area where kids will toss over-sized “nutrition label” dice and compare the two face-up labels for a prize, while learning to understand the nutrition facts label on food packaging more effectively; and a Subway section where kids will have the opportunity to compete on stationary bikes with a video game to beat a countdown clock.

So I have never heard of this before and looking at the website and reading this I still felt like a dodo bird. I think I’ve finally figured it out though. So for those of you that are a big slow like me this event is to inspire the whole family to get up and moving “get animated” Children can download a game tip guide and bring a game they created themselves to the tour. So not only are we animating our bodies but your children can animate their minds as well.

Here is a rough schedule for the tour. I checked Seattle and it’s already been updated so just check www.GetAnimated.com  to find out when the tour will be in your area.
