Splashing in Those Spring Puddles with The Butler Overboot

March 30, 2015 by Momstart Leave a Comment

My kids love wearing rain boots, they live in them all Spring and at home because we live in such a wet climate. There is something though about being able to wear your tennis shoes when you want to run really fast, and yet at the park I cringe at how muddy it is and that their shoes are about to end up covered with mud. Well, because of my blog we had the chance to try the Butler Overboot. We received two pairs but someone must have had a growth spurt because the only one that fit was the yellow pair. So of course there was fighting over them.

My recommendation would be to get at least a half size larger than your size because they are hard to put on, but they are a great product and we really do like them!

IMG_0389

They are a start-up that has developed a “must have” for stylish moms with young kids who live in wet climates, like the Pacific Northwest! We have reinvented the old galosh, or overboot, for kids. We call it the BUTLER Overboot. Their boots are 100% MADE IN THE USA.

Simply put: their rainboots slide over any kids shoe style, and out the door they go, puddle jumping away! They are well suited to city (and suburban) moms who need to get their wee one off to daycare or preschool in mucky/slushy weather and cannot be bothered to carry shoes separately. I’ve actually carried their tennis shoes separately and it gets old quickly.

The boots are newly available on Nordstrom.com and Amazon.com.

A few Features:

  • Waterproof boot featuring hook-and-loop closure and accordion-style entry for easy on and off
  • Intended to be worn over shoes
  • Slip-resistant outsole

Rebels Footwear: Fashionable from Boots to Sandals Giveaway

February 12, 2014 by Momstart 71 Comments

I have a problem, I’m going to share it with you. Yes, I am a boot addict. Rebels sent me a pair of boots to review and I love them. I want to wear them all the time. I even tried to wear them out in the snow the other day but my husband reminded me that I might just ruin them, or (fall on my rear) trying to run up and down the hill after the kids. So I saved them for a rainy day instead. Today! The snow is gone and they are back on my feet.

my boots

Rebels Footwear carries a great collection of boots and sandals. They also have heels, wedges and sneekers but they had me at boots. You know me, I have more boots than there are days of the week.

IMG_0810

I love the detail on these boots and they are comfortable. They are my new travel boots because I can wear them and walk forever. Rebels is a Los Angeles based footwear company founded in 1993, by a boyfriend-girlfriend team with one style of canvas shoe with a rubber-capped toe shoe. Rebels stays true to it’s name and represents eccentric styling and renegade charm for the bohemian fashionista. She’s motivated by her own independence and her individuality is uncompromised.

Even the inside of the shoe is cute. Look at the pattern.

The shoes pretty much speak for themselves. They are fashionable, comfortable and easy to get on and off. Rebels was even kind enough so share a pair with one of you.

From Dansko’s Fall Collection The Crepe Boot

October 12, 2012 by Momstart 10 Comments

Boots, I’m addicted to boots! I have more pairs of boots than I do days in the week and I can only wear one pair at a time so it’s very difficult to choose which ones to wear on which day. Whenever I get a new pair I wear them for an entire month and then I’ll start rotating the old ones back in but like I said, it’s a very tough decision. I don’t buy boots unless they are cute, fashionable, comfortable and long lasting. I love for them to be soft and they have to fit well. I wear boots all year round. I can get away with that living in the Pacific Northwest and sometimes I forget that the rest of the country has warmer seasons. So I need to remember when I travel to take cooler shoes, however, that can wait. It’s now Fall! And there are new boots to celebrate Fall with:

From Dansko’s Fall Collection The Crepe Boot

IMG_6275

Natural suede and rustic details like exposed rivets and seams give unexpected flair to our tall crepe boot. Goring at the calf and a full zip closure make it easy to slip on and go. Some boots don’t fit my calves, these fit nicely and they don’t stretch out. Dansko has some other fitting tips that I thought I would share with you.

  • A Good Fit
    • Fit may be snug when stepping into the clog
    • Heel should move up and down freely
    • Toes should wiggle freely

It’s funny to me to think that these boots are built on the foundation of a clog. I never thought I would like wearing clogs, but the foundation inside a Dansko shoe is very supportive, curvy and lifting. I feel like I’m gliding as I walk in a pair of shoes from Dansko.

I’m very grateful for these fun shoes from Dansko. Sample received.

My Love Affair with Boots

February 17, 2011 by Momstart 15 Comments

Oh, how I love thy boots!

Crocs

Most women have a love affair with shoes, I have a love affair with boots. I wear boots all the time! I live in Washington and would have to say that my favorite thing about Washington is that for me it’s boot weather all year round. When most people get out the sandals and flip flops around here I’m still in my boots! I honestly can’t pass by a pair of boots without wanting to try them on. I resist the urge occasionally.

Crocs sent me a pair of boots and they were too small for me. I wear an 8 1/2 or nine depending on the brand and I think in crocs I must wear a 10. This was very unexpected, it was also very unexpected at how much I LOVE Them. Even thought they squish my feet around the toes, I really love how comfortable they are on the heel and how supportive they are on around the souls. My feet prefer extra support and they were really supported in the crocs. I gave them to my neighbor and she loves them. She put them on right away and wore them while I was over at her house.

Counting the new pair of crocs Berryessa boots in Espresso I now have 7 pairs of boots (okay, so I only have six sinse I gave that pair away), that’s almost one pair for every day of the week. I have brown boots, pink snow boots, I have a pair of black flat boots, a pair of brown boots with a small chunky heel and two pairs of Rockports. If you count up all the boots we have on our cul-de-sac, I know we have more boots than anyone would know what to do with.

Here is a photo I put together of a few boots.

Boot Collage

The first pair in the photo is the new pair from crocs. The second pair is a pair I’ve had for five years, I bought them knowing I wouldn’t be able to wear them. I was pregnant and my feet were swollen, it took me 4 years to lose enough weight to get into them but I did it. I can and do wear them all the time! The third pair is my neighbors. I love boots so much that I borrowed a pair of my neighbors boots to wear on the red carpet. I didn’t end up wearing them because I was afraid of stretching them out but I did like them a lot. The final three are of course on my list to try soon each  of those from crocs, pictured in the photo from left to right from crocs: Chikata, Mosman, Claire.

Crocs sent me a pair of boots in exchange for this post!

I Need Help What To Wear? Boots or Heels?

January 9, 2011 by Momstart 50 Comments

I’m attending the red carpet premier of Gnomeo and Juliet with Elton John and 14 other bloggers on behalf of Disney and I want to dress appropriately. We have three days of events and the dress code is

Friday, 1/21 – Casual attire.

Saturday, 1/22 – “Nice” casual attire.

Sunday, 1/23 – “Nice” attire (the actual red carpet event which is an afternoon premier so we were told to leave the ball gowns at home, but since I never get to dress up I’m tempted to wear one anyways)

So I’m going to be looking at my friends and their closets for help. But I did go out shopping with the kids the other day and I bought a dress, but I went really safe so if it’s not red carpet approved by you guys then I’ll wear it on the day before. I just need to know what category the dress falls into and if you like the boots or the heels better?

This Dress is from Karen Millen

The Boots are from Camper: (300.00 shoes I purchased for 20.00)

Karen Miller Dress with Boots

Again the Dress is Karen Millen

The Heels are  from ClarksKaren Miller Dress with Heels

Help me please?

Should I look for anther dress?

Should I wear the boots or the heels?

I’m taking the dress with me on the trip no matter what, the question is do I wear this dress on Day to as Nice Casual or day three, nice!???

Burlington Coat Factory has Winter Coats but is so much more #giveaway

November 12, 2009 by Momstart 1,033 Comments

Burlington Coat FactoryMy sister’s first job was working for Burlington Coat Factory and she was shocked to learn that you can purchase more than just coats. They have a very nice baby section that she looked at a lot while I was busy giving birth. ;-), My two kids are only 12 months apart. But since it is winter time and they are The Coat Factory, let’s check out some coats.

Burlington Coat Factory has clothing and accessories for the whole family from infants to moms and everyone in between. They inspire fall fashion on a budget stories and or Holiday gift guides I remember getting a coat one year. I was so happy. Weird huh, a lot of people don’t like getting functional gifts for Christmas. I do, it kept me warm and I thought I was the stuff with my black leather jacket.. They have coats for everyone in the family under $100, men’s and women’s business attire under $150 and boots for women under $50.

What is your style?

About Burlington:

The roots of Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation (the "Company") go back to 1924 with wholesale sales of ladies coats and junior suits. In 1972, the Company opened its first outlet store in Burlington, New Jersey. Coats were the primary offering at the original Burlington Coat Factory, but over time the concept evolved into a one-stop shopping experience. Extensive selections of men’s and women’s suits, sportswear, shoes, and accessories developed. Highly successful baby and youth departments were created. A linens department was added in 1987

Burlington is offering one of my readers a 50.00 Girt Card.
