In an attempt to win a full sponsorship to BlogHer 2010, I’m entering a contest hosted by Mabel’s Labels, Mabel’s Labels BlogHer ‘10 Contest. They are asking Bloggers to write your passion in 300 words or less and to make it count because there is an electrical storm that is going to wipe out the internet, blogs, twitter. It’s all gone, so what do I want you to know? Here is my entry:
With the end coming and not much time to spare, I want to make sure I made my point. If you have been a reader of Mom Start then you know I love supporting charity by acquiring donations, giving food to the local Food Bank and helping other moms in my local MOMS Club. It is an easy thing to do to help out others. All you have to do is something. Asking companies to make donations to a charity may seem like a difficult task but it isn’t. For them, giving a donation is a tax write off and advertisement, for you all you need to do is ask, you might be told no, but it’s not personal. Some companies can only do a certain amount of donations each year. To give to the local Food bank, you can get free stuff all the time just by using coupons and sales. It’s easy, use the Sunday Paper, coupons and weekly mailer ads. Sales + Coupons = Free.
It doesn’t end with just charities though, we can help each other. Human nature makes us shy away from asking for help. We think we can do everything on our own and sometimes it’s just stinking pride that gets in the way of asking for help. By just doing something for someone else or asking what they might need will make such a huge difference in someone else’s day. Everyone needs affirmation, love and support. Call a friend on the phone; send them a letter in the mail. Getting mail, real mail might seem a way of the past but when I open my mail box and have a letter, I get so excited. I know I’m not alone. So go out and do something to brighten a day.
