Every time I work with a professional chef on my blog they tell me that including children in the shopping and cooking process will get them excited about eating different foods. Allowing them to help cook will make them excited about eating. I’ve been pretty lucky so far with their eating habits anyways but it’s a lot of fun for them to be included in the kitchen. It keeps them from whining and pulling on my legs the whole time I’m cooking.
Dad’s the best at letting the kids help. The other day he made homemade pizza. He made the dough in the bread machine and let the kids put the ingredients in.
Betty Crocker Pizza Dough
Ingredients:
1 c. warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. oil
2 1/2 c. flour
To make it in the bread machine you put all the liquid ingredients in first. Then you put in the flour, salt and sugar and in the top make an indention and place the yeast inside the indention. Then turn on the bread machine setting to dough.
She helped put in all the ingredients into the bread machine. Her and Daddy work very well together. Then after the bread machine was done, we rolled the dough out into a glass pan. Cooked the pizza dough for 5 minutes on 425. (would have been better if we had cooked it at a lower temperature for longer. The dough was a little tough)
Used a 12 ounce can of pizza sauce and spread it across the dough.
Covered it in Cheddar Cheese (we were out of Mozzarella)
Then placed pepperoni on it.
Finished cooking the pizza at 425 because we were in a hurry, very bad decision but it still looked and tasted great.
It’s so easy! I love using my bread machine to make all kinds of bread dough, it just saves my hands all the kneading.
