Fashionable Kids Shoes For Boys & Girls

July 18, 2017 by Momstart 24 Comments

This is a partnered post.

Fashionable Kid Shoes

Back To School shopping is when kids get new clothes for school. I remember that this was the time to get fashion right. It always felt like, if you had the best back to school outfit on the first day of school then you would have a good year. I feel like my daughter feels the same way and she looks for fashion from head to toe. That’s right she has to have fashionable kids shoes. And KidsShoes.com is #1 place to shop for Kids Shoes!

fashionable Kids shoes

We picked out this amazing pair of shoes from  KidsShoes.com.  This pair of shoes is now her favorite pair of shoes. She loves wearing them. They match everything. She loves how they sparkle and shine. And as every kid knows a new pair of shoes makes you faster. It’s like there is a spark in her step. Actually, I think to her these are the most fashionable pair of children’s shoes she has ever owned. She looks awesome from head to toe.

Michael Kors Kids shoes

KidsShoes has such a large selection of designer shoes for both boys and girls. It’s the perfect place to find boys and girls shoes for that perfect back to school outfit. The designer shoe brands make it easy for fashionable choices and the prices are just right too. Now for my son he loves his shoes too. So it’s nice that we were able to find shoes for both my children in the same spot.

boys shoes

He made me laugh after he put them on because he started running like crazy around the street. Then we ran over to the park and started kicking up dirt and I was like STOP IT!!! Those are new shoes don’t get them dirty. Then he looked at me and said, I just made them mine. I cracked up. That’s just like him because all his fashionable kids shoes are dirty. This is why kids don’t get to wear their new back to school shoes or back to school clothing until the first day of school. But he still looks pretty darn good from head to toe in his new fashionable boys shoes.

Helping Young Athletes Succeed: Interview With Goose Gossage #HormelFamily

September 30, 2015 by Beeb Leave a Comment

Goose Gossage enjoying Skippy PB

I’m currently a member of the Hormel Foods Extended Family Blogger Program and this post is part of my involvement with the group. While Hormel Foods has provided me material and necessary resources, including products and same-as-cash gift cards, to complete the activities shared on my blog, all statements and sentiment in MomStart are my own.

Richard “Goose” Gossage is an iconic Major League Baseball star and Hall of Famer. He’s also passionate about helping young people get involved in sports, so he’s partnered with Hormel to spread the word about the importance of providing kids with the right fuel to perform at their best. Goose hopped on the phone with me recently to share some tips to help parents support their kids in their after-school activities:

Beeb Ashcroft: I’d like to start off by learning a little bit more about why you’ve partnered with Hormel for this back-to-school season.

Goose Gossage: You know, Hormel has [always] been a food in our cupboards with SKIPPY Peanut Butter, and SPAM has been a part of our outdoor activities; being in Colorado, we live a very, very active lifestyle out here being in the mountains. And Hormel has provided us throughout raising 3 kids – even when I was a kid, SKIPPY Peanut Butter was a staple food in our cupboard way back in the day. And SPAM of course has been around for a long time. They’ve [also] got some great new products: The Hormel Pepperoni Stix and the Hormel Rev Wraps, each one has [at least] 12 grams of protein, and parents can pack it around with active lifestyles, schlepping kids from sport to sport to ensure their kids stay energized, before practice and through the game. You know, the new products – the SKIPPY P.B. Bites, man I wish we’d had these around when I was a kid. This is a brand new product that captures the signature SKIPPY taste in a bite-sized creation, with a crunchy center and a soft peanut butter coating. So perfect for snacking on or in the dugout on game days – during the game, after the game, before the game – so I wish we’d had these SKIPPY P.B. Bites when I was a kid.

Beeb Ashcroft: And I’m sure as an athlete, you can attest to how important it is to have good nutrition and protein-filled snacks for activities like sports.

Goose Gossage: Oh, absolutely, and not only for grown ups but especially for kids, because kids stay so active. And you’ve gotta kinda force them to eat their protein so they can have that reserve of energy to get ’em through the day, to get ’em through maybe a couple of sports – I know a few kids that play a couple of different sports at the same time, so going from practice to practice, you need to keep up that energy reserve. And Hormel with their protein in their products really is the ticket for these active lifestyles of these kids today.

Beeb Ashcroft: So, you’ve got the lunch for the kids; once you have that, what are some other hints for parents to help them support their kids and encourage them if they want to pursue sports?

Goose Gossage: Well, I was very lucky, Beeb, to have parents that supported me in everything that I did. I was a pitcher – I tried out for my team when I was 8 years old and they said, “You’re gonna be our pitcher”older products, fit the bill for sustaining this energy that it takes to play all these sports.

Goose Gossage

Beeb Ashcroft: And so they have something they can pack in their lunch and take with them when they’re running around doing all this stuff, right?

Goose Gossage: Absolutely! You know, in baseball in particular, they did a bat bag – we used to throw peanut butter and jelly sandwiches into our kids’ bat bags and into their packs that they carried to the games, and then we had to remind them that hey, that sandwich is there for a good reason, and that’s to eat it! You know, you gotta kinda stay on kids. Hormel has always provided this for me even when I was growing up as a kid, and now these new products and all the protein that they add, the Hormel Rev wraps, the Hormel Pepperoni Stix, and the Hormel Natural Choice – this is a great product. Pre-packaged deli meats sure to be delicious, affordable, and contain no preservatives or artificial ingredients. So, these Natural Choices are really a great product for the active family.

Beeb Ashcroft: Is that your choice for a sandwich, get the Natural Choice Meats on there?

Goose Gossage: Absolutely! They come in little packets that are easy to just throw ’em right into the kids’ packs, and they’ve got that to snack on throughout the game or throughout the day, to sustain that energy – people don’t really realize the energy that it takes for these kids and as a professional baseball player, to sustain that energy that it takes. If we’re not feeding our bodies with the fuel that it takes to sustain our energy, then we’re not gonna be able to perform on the field like we should. And these Hormel products are perfect for the active kid, for the active mom, for the active parents. We’ve gotta watch what our kids put into their bodies, so they can do the job on the field or their particular sport that they’re playing.

Beeb Ashcroft: And you hit on a good topic there, because like you said, kids’ school schedules are so packed these days with extracurricular activities – do you have any advice for parents for prioritizing which activities to choose from?

Goose Gossage: No, I think it really lies with the passion. If the kid has a passion for a particular sport, that’s what it takes to really be great at something is a passion. And because you don’t mind practices and you gotta practice to get better, so you know, these are things that you support your kids with whatever they want to do. I was always a stickler on hey, you’ve got to finish what you start. You know, pick a sport that you really do love, and you’re very passionate about, and give it your best shot. And that’s gonna bleed into your everyday life. I believe that every kid that has baseball, whether they make it to the big leagues or not is irrelevant. All the life lessons are out there on that baseball field and, you know, you’re gonna be a better person whether you make it to the big leagues or not, in anything that you do if you had played baseball because baseball is a failing sport. I can’t name anything else that you would fail 7 out of 10 times and be a star! So, learning to deal with failure – I think people are missing the boat on how sports really interacts with the kid later on in life. You know, how you deal with failure, that’s gonna directly correlate with how much success you had in life. And I believe that baseball is the greatest sport for preparing a kid for his future in whatever else he or she does.

Beeb Ashcroft: And you’re quite active in your own local community with youth sports, aren’t you?

Goose Gossage: Oh yeah. I love the kids – some of us never grow up, Beeb, I’m a perfect example of that and baseball has kept me young. I think sports lends a great life lesson to all the kids, and again, it goes back to dealing with that failure part of the game. And you know, food enters into this – Hormel is a perfect product again to, as a team, feed your kids, to prepare them, and to have with that fuel that will sustain them through these sports, it’s so important. I can’t tell you how important sports has been in my life, and I know what a role it played in my success as a person in life, so just give it your best shot – that’s what I tell kids all the time.

The Fashion of Going Back TO School with @Staples #StaplesforStudents #110Ready #AD

July 29, 2015 by Momstart 3 Comments

This is a sponsored post.

I can’t believe it but it’s already time to start getting school supplies as you can see in stores around you. But school supplies are much more than just your box of pencils, folders and papers. Now school supplies are even functional, and fashionable. When kids are young the fashion of Back TO School is more about which super hero or princess is on their school supplies. As kids get older though their supplies need to make a statement. Here are a few back to school fashion trends that you can find at Staples.

clip_image002

“This back-to-school season at Staples is all about bold style that turns function into fashion with products that students need and want,” said Alison Corcoran, senior vice president, stores and online marketing, Staples. “We’re committed to getting parents, students and teachers 110% ready for the new school year with the best trends and our lowest price guarantee.”

clip_image004

I spent about two hours going through different back to school products with my two kids to find what they like and what I think older kids will like too. I’ll start with the products you see in the photo above which happens to also be in Staples’ list of top back to school trends as well, The Staples Designed by Students Collection. The Staples® Designed by Students Collection includes tools designed by students that help to address common classroom needs.

clip_image006Available in a variety of color combinations, products include The Big Pen ($8.99), a writing instrument and pencil case all-in-one, the Big Props Pencil Case ($7.99) that doubles as a tablet stand and the Super Folder ($12.99) that includes storage areas, a zipper pouch, clear pockets for class schedules, a pencil sharpener, sticky notes and a writing pad, among other products in the collection.

clip_image007

Next up are the licensed products that my son was crazy about. The Boys Licensed juvenile backpacks at Staples ($14.99) feature their favorite characters in assorted prints such as The Avengers and Nickelodeon™ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™. Kids can also choose from a selection of MOJO backpacks ($29.99) with lifelike images of donuts, cheeseburgers, sharks and X-Rays. Or they can pick Elsa, Anna and Olaf to help carry school gear to the classroom with a Disney Frozen backpack ($14.99) and keep lunch fresh in an adorable Disney Frozen square lunch bag ($9.74).

clip_image009

When I told my son that they had camouflage he was ready to move on from the licensed characters so I agree with Staples’ Back to School trend list. Camouflage is going to be a popular choice this year. A full “army” of backpacks and accessories in the coolest camouflage patterns are featured in an assortment of products. The OGIO Evader and Stellar backpacks ($49.99/$44.99) feature a large main compartment, padded laptop sleeve and ergonomic shoulder straps for comfort. These backpacks coordinate with Staples® Camouflage Composition Books ($2.00) and Staples® Maze Calculators ($4.99).

clip_image011

One of my favorites was the animal prints. The laptop back pack needs to be my new backpack and not my daughter’s, although she wants to fight me for it. From trendy animal prints on holographic backgrounds to eye-catching 3D and psychedelic screen-saver designs, Staples carries Continental Into the Wild and Continental Vibrance notebooks and composition books that add fun to jotting notes in class. Tie-dye, inspirational sayings and fun graphics with glasses and mustaches from Gartner Studios ($3.00) let students show off their personal style with notebooks and composition books.

clip_image012One of the fun and trendy collections you will find at Staples from the 2015 back to school trends is the Me to We Collection. Staples and Me to We, a social enterprise that provides people with better choices for a better world, are making socially conscious shopping easy with a new line of eco-friendly school supplies. Each product provides a life-changing impact in a developing community where Me to We’s partner, Free the Children, works. The exclusive Me to We Collection includes notebooks, composition books, binders, portfolios, backpacks, pencil pouches, and more that will help make a difference. ($1.99 – $29.99).

clip_image014

The above image doesn’t correlate to any of the trends she spoke about. Instead of mentioning bright and metallic trends below, she should mention pastels and graphic patterns to reflect the image above.

Our final favorite was the metallic colors that we found on different items. Bright and metallic fashion-forward school supplies let students shine. Continental notebooks and composition books ($3.00) add glitter, starlight, diamonds and sassy sayings in combinations of pink, silver, purple and other bold, sparkly hues. Friends will be a-MAZEd by the Staples® Maze calculator ($4.99) that features a maze game on the back and the Glitter and Flow iPhone cases ($12.99) available in an array of sparkly colors that make school days shiny.

Staples is in stock all-season-long at the lowest prices with the Staples back-to-school 110% Lowest Price Guarantee and up to 5% back in Staples Rewards on every purchase.

Popsicle Rules Back To School #PopsicleRules

September 24, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

This is a partnered post with Popsicle

We’ve been in school for a little over three weeks now and it has changed our lives. We are home schooling and the transition is complicated, emotional and amazing. It’s funny how something can be so live changing for all of us and be a good thing. Now, this post isn’t going to be about home schooling or an update on how my family is doing homeschooling, I still owe you guys that post and it will be coming soon. This post is about some great back to school tips that I have to share with you as we are getting back into our regular routing.

Popsicle worked with consumers and created the Summer Rules For Being A Kid Guidebook and it was full of fun rules. You can visit the site www.popsiclerules.com read the book, and download it to read with your kids. You can also find the guidebook on the Facebook at facebook.com/Popsicle page and on Twitter at twitter.com/Popsicle. And it’s because of this partnership that I’m going to now share my rules on getting back into a regular routine.

My First suggestion is to set a regular bedtime and stick to it. Kids need sleep for growth and brain power while they are sitting through their day.

Start every day with breakfast

Then we had a great family dinner at Guy Fieri’s restaurant. Once we were home from New York we continued the fun at home of course by playing Skylanders® and then by taking our little Skylanders® character Fire Bone Hot Dog outside to play with us. He really liked exploring our neighborhood.

Recipe: School Bus Sandwich

August 21, 2014 by Beeb 3 Comments

School Bus Sandwich

As parents gear up for the end of summer, thoughts will turn to what to pack in those school lunchboxes or serve up after the kids get home. Here’s a super cute, kid-friendly sandwich from FamilyFun Magazine that will make you want to play with your food!

School Bus Sandwich

Park this friendly bus in front of your child to celebrate the start of the new school year. Cut a slice of bread (we used pumpernickel) into a rectangle, reserving a strip of crust. Trim a slice of yellow cheese to fit the bread as shown. Cut another slice of cheese for the hood. Use the reserved crust for a fender. Cut headlights and grill strips from white cheese and set them in place. Use the pointy end of a grape tomato for each red light. Slice more tomato into a stop sign and smile. Finish with black olive tires, trimmed to lie flat, and pupils (we cut ours with a straw). Now that’s a snack worth stopping for!
