Back To School With AT&T LG Tone Bluetooth Headsets #Giveaway #ATTSeattle

August 17, 2015 by Momstart 19 Comments

The annual list of back to school items required from my children’s school gets longer every year. For some students, a new addition to the supplies: headphones.  With many classrooms featuring computers with interactive learning programs, headphones have increasingly become an essential item that traditionally includes pens, pencils, paper, and three-ring binders. My kids need headphones because we home school on the computer and all of it is interactive. LG Tones Promo

But if your kids are anything like mine, a simple pair of black ear buds don’t make the cut. They want multiple color options with premium audio sound and with their smaller ears the ear buds never fit correctly. .  Thankfully, AT&T is running a Back to School promo now on all LG Tone wireless stereo headsets in pink, orange, silver, gold, red, blue, black and white. From now through Sept. 24, save 10% on all LG Tone Bluetooth headsets.

We are giving a pair away thanks to AT&T.

The Final Re-cap of the #ATTPROAM #ATTBLOGGER

February 24, 2015 by Momstart 5 Comments

Watching a golf game through the “Fan’s Eye View” was a lot more fun than just watching a regular game of golf. But who am I kidding? The #ATTPROAM isn’t just a regular game of golf. The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is a famous golf tournament and an experience that raises money for charity. Golf Pros, Hollywood celebrities and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs play together to raise millions of dollars in donations. Some familiar names that that attended were Billy Murray, Don Cheadle, Jake Owen, Josh Duhamel, Andy Garcia, Chris O’Donnell, Kelly Slater and many others including Larry the Cable Guy. Larry was really vocal and fun to watch on twitter. The “Fan’s Eye View” really brought all of the best features of the week to life.

clip_image001

The foursome, made up of Tim Lang – Military Veteran, Katie Horsford – First Tee Mentor, Dan McLaughlin of The Dan Plan and Tiffany Fitzgerald of Black Girls Golf , had an amazing journey. The “Fans Eye View” promotion really engaged golf fans through the four fans chosen because they shared what people like to see: The fun, the atmosphere and the people of golf, anyone on social media was able to enjoy all aspects of the game.

I learned quite a bit following along, I got to see the latest technology surrounding the game and I had no idea what kind of training exercises were out there for golfers. I would have loved to have been one of the four learning first hand how the money from the Pro-Am is shared with the charities. These people were true ambassadors for the game and you could see it all week long. I was wondering how much sleep they were getting because of how much fun I saw them having. I hope that more sports pick up this type of social media sharing because it really brought the sport of golf to life.

I am an #ATTBLOGGER. This post is brought to you by AT&T, celebrating 30 years of the #ATTPROAM. All opinions are 100% my own.

All About the #ATTPROAM Foursome @TimLangGolf @BlackGirlsGolf @thedanplan & @kthorsford #ATTBLOGGER

February 14, 2015 by Momstart 5 Comments

Oh wow, what a crazy week. I’ve been watching the AT&T Pro-Am on-line and following #ATTProAm from the fan view of @TimLangGolf @BlackGirlsGolf @thedanplan & @kthorsford. I love how even people that live in those cold cities in the NE are able to enjoy the warmth and fun of the golf from twitter. These four fans have been sharing like crazy all the fun from the golf course. Who are the four fans? Let me share a little bit about each one of them with you. The Foursome is comprised of: Tim Lang- Military Veteran, Katie Horsford- First Tee mentor, Dan McLaughlin of The Dan Plan and Tiffany Fitzgerald of Black Girls Golf.

AT&T_PB

For starters on Twitter, I found @BlackGirlsGolf to be so fun to watch and keep up with on Twitter. She is so engaging and lively, I could really feel her personality as she tweeted.

How’d you like to be a Marshall at @attproam. Check out that outfit. #ATTProAm attp #ATTBLOGGER pic.twitter.com/1bXdmcSSRI

— Black Girls Golf ™ (@BlackGirlsGolf) February 11, 2015

As a black woman working in corporate America, Tiffany Fitzgerald felt like an outsider. She saw co-workers and even interns rising above her professionally based on relationships they made on the golf course with company execs.

Tiffany knew nothing about golf. Growing up in Oakland, she was never exposed to the sport. But that didn’t stop her. She was determined to learn. So she purchased a $100 bag of clubs and hit the course.

After a few months of practice, Tiffany invited some coworkers to play a round of golf and, by the time they were done, she was no longer “the black girl in marketing.” She was “Tiff.” She suddenly found herself on the inside.

Tiffany took a huge risk, left corporate America to start Black Girls Golf, an organization dedicated to teaching the sport to black women. Black Girls Golf has helped numerous black women become insiders in corporate America, gain confidence in themselves and fall in love with the sport of Golf.

Being a woman myself I also found tweets from Katie to be fun and engaging because she really shared how much she enjoyed meeting the golfers and participating in the events.

Got to meet Jordan Spieth today!!! Definitely can say, BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!! @JordanSpieth #ATTBLOGGER #ATTProAm pic.twitter.com/plIJaMzMFV

— Katie Horsford (@kthorsford) February 11, 2015

Like many kids, Katie Horsford was shy and lacked confidence. She was quiet and unassuming. She didn’t quite know where she fit in and felt uncomfortable in her own skin.

When Katie was 12, she began taking golf lessons but, for years, she was so quiet and unassuming that her coach couldn’t even tell if Katie enjoyed the sport. But she did. She loved it. And, secretly, she began dreaming of playing in the PGA.

As Katie’s skills improved, her coach could literally see a transformation. Katie began walking with more confidence and became more outgoing. She made close friends through golf and, as a freshman, she made her high school’s varsity golf team.

Katie became more focused on her training and finally shared her goal of becoming a professional golfer. With the support of her coach and friends, she began winning tournaments and finished second in the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach; proof that her dream was realistic.

Today Katie is a confident 17 year old with a close circle of friends and a strong sense of purpose. In addition, she has become an inspirational figure in her local golf community and a mentor to younger girls in The First Tee program who look up her as a role model. She credits golf for her dramatic transformation, but insists that her story is far from over.

Katie is excited to meet Jordan Spieth at Pebble and to get a sense of what her future golf career could be like.

It was really cool that she got that shot of herself with Jordan Spieth!

The other two Tim Lang and Dan McLaughlin also did a great job sharing this from the golf course. Tim shared quite a few great shots of the course.

View from Sky Box. This is how a fan experience should be! Great ppl, venue, food, & view! #ATTProAm #ATTBLOGGER pic.twitter.com/G6ZG705vqS

— Tim Lang (@TimLangGolf) February 11, 2015

Tim has an interesting perspective since he was a Marine.

While serving his country as a Marine in Iraq, Tim Lang’s leg was badly injured by an IED explosion. After 48 different operations, he made the difficult decision to have his leg amputated and fell into a profound depression. He had always been a competitive, athletic person and assumed that part of his life was over.

Then, almost by a fluke, Tim discovered golf and was shocked at how he fell in love with the sport. He began training, attacking it with the fierce determination of a warrior. Gradually, his golf game improved, his body began to heal and, most importantly, his depression began to lift.

“Golf pretty much finished what doctors were able to start,” he says. “It made a world of difference mentally, emotionally physically. It became my satisfaction. I was able to feel like a human being again. It gave me the self confidence that I missed for so long.”

Conquering the game of golf, one of the most difficult sports, became a motivating force for Tim to improve every aspect of his life. He has now turned lessons he has learned from his golf training into a career as a guest speaker, motivating other disabled and abled body people to never give up, never quit. Tim is excited to learn about new golf technology at Pebble.

The final out of the foursome is Dan. Dan shares a love of mine, Larry the Cable guy that is. I once interviewed him and he is a riot!

Never thought I would take a selfie with @GitRDoneLarry and Michael Bolton, but then last night happened. #ATTProAm pic.twitter.com/xFJx0rv6c5

— Dan McLaughlin (@thedanplan) February 12, 2015

About Dan:

When Dan turned 30, he did what every average person does – quit his job as a commercial photographer and picked up a golf club for the first time, with the simple goal of mastering the notoriously difficult sport. No big deal.

He was inspired by the idea that if you dedicate 10,000 hours of deliberate practice toward something, you can achieve mastery. He created “The Dan Plan” to prove to himself and others that through raw persistence, it’s never too late to start a new pursuit in life.

Since April 5, 2010, Dan has made the mastery of golf his life. Starting with just a putter and working his way up to a full set of clubs, Dan has documented every hour and round played over the past 5 years. Photos, blogs, videos – all featuring an average guy on an extraordinary journey to prove hard work, not talent, is the true factor that leads to success in life. He has become an inspiration for people who have always dreamed about pursuing their passion, but never felt like it was a realistic option.

Dan has now completed over 5,000 hours of training. He still has his eyes on a PGA career but, more importantly, he’s discovery a profound feeling of happiness from just being on the journey.

Dan is excited to see Pebble for the first time, especially during an event like the 30 year celebration.

I’m really excited to announce that I’m partnering with AT&T as an #ATTBLOGGER for the next month bringing information to you about the #ATTPROAM. What is the #ATTPROAM you might ask? The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is a famous golf tournament but it’s also an experience that raises money for charity. Golf Pros, Hollywood celebrities and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs play together to raise millions of dollars in donations. Some familiar names that will be attending are Billy Murray, Don Cheadle, Jake Owen, Josh Duhamel, Andy Garcia, Chris O’Donnell, Kelly Slater and many others. AT&T is also sending a Foursome who will be able to watch as these celebrities take the course!

clip_image002

AT&T has enhanced the tournament for 30 years and is celebrating by giving a personal look to four golf fans. The foursome will be sharing their journey and “Fan’s Eye View” at the #ATTPROAM. The Foursome is comprised of: Tim Lang- Military Veteran, Katie Horsford-First Tee Mentor, Dan McLaughlin of The Dan Plan and Tiffany Fitzgerald of Black Girls Golf. For all of the fans who couldn’t make it out this year, this Foursome is sharing a first-hand look of all the unique things that make this tournament one of a kind. They will utilize the AT&T Network and HTC devices to document their journey and share via their social properties.

These four fans get to do some really amazing things as part of their experience. So look out for their experiences on the Hashtag #ATTPROAM the things you might see will be:

• Attend a charitable event for the Veteran’s Transition Center of Monterey County

• Play in the Boys & Girls Club Pro-AM

• Pay a visit to the Golf Academy to experience new technology including:

The V-1 Digital Coaching System also allows you to view your swing online with complete analysis and instructor comments.

o Robotic Swing Trainer with Scot Nei, widely recognized as one of golf’s most innovative instructors

This is the most advanced and effective golf improvement technology in the industry.

o Science and Motion PuttLab with Kevin Hanssen, PGA Member and the Lead Instructor at the Pebble Beach Golf Academy.

This analysis and training system is based on accurate ultrasound measurements, using 28 parameters of the putting stroke.

o Full Swing Instruction with Dan Pasquariello, selected by Golf Magazine as one of its “100 Best Teachers in America” in 2011/2012

Smartphone Tips for Parents #ATTSeattle

October 15, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

When it comes time to buy your child his or her first smartphone, there are several considerations and decisions to make.  Questions may include ‘will your kids use their smartphones responsibly?’  And, ‘What if they text during school or after bedtime?’  If you are planning to purchase a mobile device for your child, consider these Smartphone Tips for Parents from AT&T.Smart Limits

First, determine exactly how your child plans to use the new cell phone. Parents can alleviate confusion and potential disappointment by finding out this key information before buying a phone.  Second, parents may want to prioritize the features of a wireless device that will be most important to their child, so they can narrow down the choices and make a wise purchase decision.  Third, parents should consider three Basic guidelines for safety and security:smart_limits_for_wireless_626_110

1. Check privacy settings on social media, but emphasize there is no privacy. The more private, the less likely inappropriate material will be received by your child, or sent to their circle of acquaintances. Make sure your child understands that everything sent over the Internet or a cellphone is public and can be shared with the entire world, so it is important that they use good judgment.

2. Set rules for texting. One option is to allow texting at specific times – no texting at school, no texting until homework is done, and no texting after a certain time at night. And, of course, no texting and driving.

3. AT&T has Smart Limits which allows parents to block unwanted calls and texts from up to 30 numbers, set monthly limits on texts and mobile purchases and restrict texting, data usage and outbound calling during specified times of day.  Similar services exist from other wireless carriers.  Contact your provider for details.

Wireless carrier stores carry a wide variety of choices.  For example, AT&T stores stock nearly 70 wireless phones. There’s a device that’s just right for everyone; you just need to know what features will be most useful. Consider ranking the child’s mobile wish list using these criteria:

• Text messaging

• Send/receive e-mail

• Social media

• Take and share photos

• Games

• Listen to streaming music and mp3 files of music they already own

• Watching TV (U-tube or streaming video)

• Apps

• Browsing Web

• Video chat

Bring the list of priorities along when shopping for a wireless phone. Your carrier’s store salesperson can then offer several devices in a variety of price ranges that will meet those needs.  Some children may be mostly interested in talking on the phone and sending text messages. A quick messaging device could be an affordable solution for these functions.

If a child enjoys video games and streaming video, a smartphone with larger display screens may be a better choice. It’s also helpful to know how a child will use the phone when selecting the right voice and data plan. Streaming audio and video use more data than email and social media posts, so the mobile data plan you select should match how the phone will be used to avoid any surprises later.

After selecting a wireless phone, mobile protection insurance should also be on the shopping list. Anyone can drop a phone, no matter their age.  Another key decision a parent should make is whether to choose a wireless device that requires a contract or not. The latter may be a good option for a parent trying to teach a child financial responsibility—the parent may purchase the device and make the child pay the monthly cost of voice, data and texting.

Pantech Vybe: When To Purchase A Cell Phone For Kids Giveaway

August 6, 2014 by Momstart 71 Comments

This is a partnered post and all opinions are my own.

How do you know when is the right moment to get a phone for your kids. In some ways I want to get phones for my kids just so I can have mine back. Luckily being a blogger I usually have a review phone and my regular phone, but I have two kids so either dad has to share or I have to share or the kids have to share and all of these options run thin in times of no patience on any side if you know what I mean.

image

For many families purchasing your child’s first mobile phone has become a rite of passage for tweens and young teens, and parents too. The big question looms: is your teen, tween, or even younger kid ready for a smartphone? The Pantech Vybe is your solution, it’s kind of like a smartphone on training wheels. It’s like so easy to use Zoe needed no instructions to take a picture of me the same time I took a picture of her.

The Pantech Vybe is the perfect first phone for tweens. It is an affordable, easy to use, quick messaging phone with access to the features and apps kids want, at a price parents love. With a low-cost monthly rate plan, the Pantech Vybe is an attractive option to add to a family plan at an affordable price. The Pantech Vybe has a QWERTY keyboard with social media shortcut keys. I might have to steal this phone for work. The screen is still a touch screen with the option of creating two customized home screens. There is a dedicated camera button to capture perfect moments

With Pantech’s proprietary dual-user mode, there are two easy ways to interact with Vybe. Easy Mode has one homescreen and a simplified menu for a truly intuitive user experience. Advanced Mode is customizable and offers more options and flexibility. You can safely switch back and forth between modes without losing your contacts or favorites. It’s that simple. No manuals required.

The Pantech Vybe is available exclusively at AT&T stores nationwide and online at www.att.com. AT&T also has many great apps that you can use to keep your children safe:

AT&T Children’s Safety Features:

· Purchase Blocker is a free tool from AT&T that helps families manage mobile bills by blocking premium content purchases like games and apps that are direct-billed to individuals’ AT&T accounts.

· AT&T FamilyMap helps parents by allowing them to locate their children’s mobile device on a map.

From One To Another The Windows Lumia 2520 #ATTSeattle #WindowsChampions

July 14, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

We received a Windows Lumia 2520 from AT&T. You can purchase yours at the AT&T Store.

From one machine to another Windows has changed the way your computer works. If you have signed up for a Microsoft account, which you probably did years ago and didn’t even realize what you did, you now have the capability of logging onto any computer with your Microsoft account and your settings are carried over to that machine. I was doing a review for AT&T using the Windows Lumia 2520 and I made some changers to my account. I forgot that the changes would then transfer to my regular computer, I was reminded when I logged into my regular computer and all my settings mirrored the Lumia 2520 that I was playing with. So I changed them back.

image

The Nokia Lumia 2520 was Nokia’s first Windows RT 8. 1 tablet, pulling out all the stops in design, power, and productivity on the go. Featuring a 10. 1-inch, full HD 1080p display with enhanced readability, the Lumia 2520 allows you to take your work where you need to whether in low lighting or direct sunlight so you can see what you’re working on.  The tablet features a really great large screen, the device is thin at 8. 9 mm and lightweight with 2 GB of RAM. In addition to its unique display and design, the Nokia Lumia 2520 includes two cameras in its design. A 6. 7 megapixel lens with ZEISS optics and an f/1. 9 aperture rests inside the main camera on the back of the device, superior for capturing low light images. Another 2 megapixel HD camera sits prominently on the front, the biggest of any front-facing camera featured on a tablet and perfect for Skype video calls. It’s perfect for being on the Go and away from home.

The battery can last up to 10 hours, and when you do need to plug in can charge up to 80% in under an hour another great feature for travel. Its best accessory, the Nokia Power Keyboard, provides not only an additional feature of a full PC in a tablet, but gives you 50% more battery power, a touchpad, and two additional USB ports. It features the mobility of a tablet and the best of a PC with fast charge, battery longevity, and the ability to stay connected.

image

The power of multitasking is available thanks to the ability to use two apps simultaneously in split-screen mode, the ultimate way to stay productive. I use the multi-screen all the time. I do a lot of copy and paste from one screen to the other. The Lumia 2520 also has full-featured web browsing to access content on the go, and over 112,000 entertainment and productivity apps for download in the Windows Store. Personalize your Lumia 2520 to you with options for four tile sizes on the home screen, and more backgrounds, colors, and personalized lock screen options with a picture password.

image

Exclusive Nokia Apps

  • HERE: HERE Maps helps you discover all the best places in any neighborhood and find the smartest ways to get there, wherever you are.
  • Nokia Video Director: Unleash your creative side to take photos, record video clips, and use them to create your own customized videos.
  • Nokia StoryTeller: Taking you back to your captured moments to bring your memories alive.

July 14, 2014 by Momstart 44 Comments

I’m so excited to be part of AT&T’s Digital Life work with Habitat for Humanity. I have been invited to stop by, if it works with our schedule I will be sure to check it out because I’d love to show the kids more about helping others like AT&T is going to be doing.

image

AT&T employee volunteers will join Habitat for Humanity Seattle to help build a house in Renton, Washington, alongside a Habitat homeowner family. This is the third home build for the collaboration, with future build events planned in Dallas and Los Angeles thanks to a $150,000 donation from AT&T’s Digital Life to Habitat for Humanity.

Digital Life will work with Habitat for Humanity to strengthen their goals and mission to help bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. Through this collaboration, Digital Life will donate $10,000 toward the construction of a new home in each of the five locations and will recruit more than 100 AT&T volunteers to participate in the builds.  On Wednesday, July 16, AT&T volunteers will help with construction on a 9-unit multi-family home at Habitat’s La Fortunata from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. La Fortuna is located in Renton’s Benson Heights neighborhood, off Petrovitsky Road in an area zoned Residential Multifamily. The property is vacant land within an area of residential homes built from approximately 1960 to 1970. It will provide 41 very-low-income families with both an affordable home and an affordable mortgage in a new housing development in Renton. The Ali family, who will be occupying one of the units, has seen the impact of a Habitat home while helping friends complete their sweat equity.
