Find a Doctor Anywhere American Well App #MomsLoveAmwell

March 31, 2015 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Partnered Post

Ever find yourself in need of a doctor and have no idea where to begin? I’m in that situation right now. We moved to California in January, and it’s a temporary thing but I still find that I’m going to need a doctor. The kids need eye exams, dental exams and an appointment with an orthodontist. I could use a good general practitioner to get refills on my meds but I don’t know where to begin. I could ask some of my local friends which doctors they use but doctors are sort of really a personal fit if you know what I mean. One person may love their doctor but the next person it just doesn’t work. So how do you find a doctor.

image

The internet is a great way to start looking but you still want to have information about them and find out what other people think about them right? American Well is the nation’s largest telehealth company, connecting users with their choice of doctor for immediate, live online visits—day or night, on either mobile or desktop. Some general conditions our doctors encounter include: minor illnesses and injuries, general health and wellness concerns, prescription refills, and chronic condition management.  We employ primary care and specialist physicians, as well as behavioral therapists and nutritionists, to meet all our patients’ needs. American Well doctors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are dedicated to keeping you healthy  — and all from the comfort of your home.

image

I created an account and it’s pretty cool because it will keep your information all in one place. Amwell asked for my insurance information, my kids information. You can enter your medical history and it will keep track of the meds you are taking. It also keeps a log of when your next appointment is and the best thing is that if you have the app then it’s all in the palm of your hand. I can’t ever remember what I’m taking and the dosage so having it on my phone makes life a breeze. Another thing that’s great is that you can get advice.

image

The on-line conversation feature is really amazing. Talking to a doctor without even leaving your home. WOW! And one of my favorite features is how you can access your symptoms. Anytime I’ve wanted to know how my kids are doing and if I should take them to a doctor I’ve used a similar assessment system on-line so I love having that on my phone. If you’re traveling this app is a really great way to find a doctor in an area you have no idea where to even begin. In fact, you can try it for free. Use the code MOMSQUAD when you check out.

MommyMeds App: Free Until December 1st!

November 20, 2014 by Beeb 1 Comment

MommyMeds

This is a partnered post. This post is for informational purposes only; always consult with a doctor for medical advice.

Expectant mothers have a lot on their mind – and a lot to be mindful of. The list of “Do this” and “Don’t do that” seems to be endless for pregnant women! That’s why the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s InfantRisk Center has launched a new app and accompanying website, MommyMeds. The app serves as a resource for mommies-to-be, providing lists of appropriate drugs for conditions while pregnant or breastfeeding plus safety ratings for over 20,000 medications and vitamins, with a convenient barcode scanner built in. The app was created with help from Thomas Hale, R.Ph.,Ph.D., a leading expert in perinatal pharmacology.

A healthy mom makes a healthy baby,” InfantRisk Center Executive Director, Dr. Hale said. “There’s almost always something a pregnant mother can use safely, and we want to promote that with a variety of useful tools and information.”

MommyMeds is available for both Android and iOS; and until December 1st, it will be available free in the iTunes App Store! Afterwards, it will be available in both iTunes and the Google Play store for $1.99.

Order Panda Express from Home or On The Go

October 28, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

This is a partnered post our opinions are our own.

I love eating at Panda Express and it seems that I only eat there when I’m out at the mall. I didn’t realize they had other locations and I didn’t realize that I could pre-order my food either on-line or with the new mobile app. The mobile apps are available on either iPhone or Android phones and it’s pretty easy to use.

Panda Express Order on-line

You should create your own account but you can start out as a guest if you like. It’s still going to ask for all of your information before you are able to place your order. How else would they know who you are.

image

Then you select an order time. Looks like you can order a few days out. That makes sense if you were doing a catering order right?

We did group ordering because we were ordering for a family. Now when ordering a kids meal you can pick the side and then you pick the meal and wow there are a ton of options. Here is a photo of just a few

image

The app is also going to ask you for your credit card information. You can’t blame them. It would be bad for them if people ordered all the time and then didn’t show up to pay for their food. Overall, I think it’s a super easy process and a great way to avoid the lines and have a quick and easy family meal.

You can use the app to find the nearest location, view hours, and get directions with just a few clicks. Hungry now? Ever wanted Panda Express at lunch time and saw the line? I have, now you can avoid lines by using the online ordering tool or app to place your order. Then you will be enjoying your favorite dish in no time. My favorite dish is Orange Chicken I could order that almost every time.

Orange Chicken is a dish inspired by the Hunan Province in South Central China. It is prepared with crispy boneless chicken bites, tossed in the wok with their secret sweet and spicy orange sauce. Panda’s very own Executive Chef Andy brought this entree to life and it quickly became Panda’s most beloved dish.

image

You can also order you can order al-la carte. Thepicture above is orange chicken, white rice and broccoli beef with the beef picked out. Yep we have picky kids. And it’s nice to eat at home on your own plates even when you get take out.

Panda Express app

Bonus: Calculate your meal’s nutrition before placing your order using our easy-to-use nutrition calculator.

The Android Panda Express App Features include:
● Order your meal online and pick up at the location of your choice.
● Find a location near you and see hours and directions.
● Browse our menu and calculate nutrition information for any combination of menu items.
● Sign up for our newsletter to learn about exclusive offers, new menu options, local events and new locations.
● Tell us what you think! Get in contact with us quickly and easily.

Choose Your Own Adventure: Just Jesse the Jack on ABC Zoo

October 22, 2014 by Momstart 5 Comments

This is a partnered post.

Education is often on my mind and very important to me and I love to find ways to supplement education in a way that makes the kids feel like they are playing, so yes, video games. Video games, iBooks or educational apps are the perfect way to have kids play and learn at the same time.

image

There is a new educational app/book on iOS,  Jessie The Jack’s ABC Zoo. This app features animation, narration and video to help children ages 2-6 learn the alphabet in a fun, creative way.  Available on iOS via the iBook and app stores, the iBook retails for $.99 and the app retails for $1.99. Thankfully, an Android version is coming soon.

Jesse_iBook_Sleep

With two modes, story and play, children are able to choose their own adventure – from taking a tour through the zoo with Jesse learning an animal for every letter of the alphabet, to playing a “fill in the shape game” matching each animal to his name.

Jesse Bumble Bee

Play mode teaches the alphabet and each animal’s name through a “fill in the shape” game. Animals and letters are randomized, and players must match each animal with the right letter.

Jesse_Game_C

Correct answers are rewarded with Jesse tricks and treats, while wrong answers receive another try until the child selects the correct option. For every two Jesse treats earned, children will be directed to a link to watch Jesse perform tricks – from driving an ATV to riding a scooter.

The Story Mode uses a storyline that follows Jesse’s adventure through the zoo, which he discovers while he’s asleep. As parents and children follow Jesse in story mode, they are taken on an interactive journey with real-life animal sounds and facts. Soothing yet upbeat music produced by popular street performer Dub FX keeps children focused and entertained.

Jesse_Game_K

Jesse is a truly special dog and beloved by millions of children. Using his popularity and appeal to children will really help them on their way to learning their ABC’s! For more fun with Jessie be sure to check out Jesse’s YouTube channel, where he has over 30 million views!

Bleep Out The Bad Words musicBleeper $100 Giveaway

October 4, 2014 by Momstart 93 Comments

As a parent I like to let my kids listen to the music they like but there are so many songs that have bad words in them. Even on the radio sometimes I feel like they didn’t bleep out enough of the word to make the song ok for little ears to listen to. Then kids listen to who knows what on their personal devices right? How can we protect them? Apparently I’m not the only parent that feels that way, there’s an app for that!1

In 2013 an app was created to pioneer the field of personalized audio and video. musicBleeper, a free, one-of-a-kind app that allows users to determine and control which words they feel are unsafe or inappropriate on their iOS device playlists and it’s just been updated. The app is especially great for parents who want to listen to music with their children, have control of what their young children are listening to, or anyone who would prefer their music without profanity or objectionable phrases like me. 6

How musicBleeper Works:

• Once the app is downloaded to an iOS device and parameters are set, the app immediately starts scanning and scrubbing the songs that live on the device.7

• If a song title is shown in bold, it has already been scanned and scrubbed for offensive words. If the song title shows in grey scale, it means the song has not yet been scanned and scrubbed, but will be available soon.

• The words and phrases noted are removed from all songs on the device – users can select either “skip” or “silence.”

• The ability to manage the app is password protected, so parents can identify the words they want eliminated, without children having access to change them.

• The app can be turned on and off, so parents can turn the app off when children are not around. This feature is password protected as well.8

Get the APP:

Download it in the App store here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/music-bleeper/id777482134?mt=8

Swipe to Win Prizes With The Freeway App!

September 28, 2014 by Beeb Leave a Comment

Freeway

Products provided for consideration.

It’s no secret that I love to enter contests. This isn’t a recent obsession; my love of entering started as a child and has just evolved with technology. When I was 9 or 10, I would use our landline to call in to our local radio station and win VHS tapes; then when the Internet came along, I’d use our dial-up modem to enter some of the early online contests, including one website that involved clicking on a large image map of a tree in an attempt to reveal money under the “Leaves”. Of course, the World Wide Web has come a long way since then, so it makes sense that giveaways have become more efficient with the advent of the smartphone age! One such example of this is Freeway.

What is Freeway, you ask? This app, compatible with iOS and Android, allows users to enter for prizes with a few swipes on their phone. Once you register for the app – which does require your phone number – you are given 100 points to start your account with. You can redeem these points to enter for specific prizes that you’d like to win; once you redeem a set amount of points to enter, you are presented with a “Scratch ticket” where you rub the screen to reveal if you have won. That’s a lot faster than the endless clicks I used to do with my 28k modem in 1999! 😉 You could potentially win the product pictured or extra points to enter more giveaways, and you’ll often be presented with coupons for the items in question. You’ll receive 100 more points every day, and you can also collect more by sharing links to the products on Twitter or Facebook – Freeway exists because of brands wishing to get their products in front of consumers, in case you were wondering how this could work.

Coastal Scents

To give me an example of what’s up for grabs, Freeway sent me a package containing some of the products they’ve been handing out as prizing. These are some really fun items from Coastal Scents, perfect for a beauty junkie like me – there’s a section of eye shadows, including the Revealed 2 and Go Palette Sydney; a few brushes and brush cleaner; and a jar of Shea butter. I love getting new makeup to play with, so this is exactly the kind of thing I’d be swiping to win on Freeway!

In all, I have to say it was fun playing around with Freeway – when you think of how much time people spend mindlessly clicking on games in their phone as a diversion, this app really makes sense; why not swipe and click on something that you could actually stand to win a prize from?

To learn more about the app, visit PlayFreeway.com; you can download the app from the iTunes and Google Play stores.

Real Player Cloud Capturing a Family Outing & Sharing an Outing

August 20, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

This is a partnered post.

You should already know this because you’ve entered our $200 Roku Real Player Cloud Giveaway, but if not I want to tell you again.

What is RealPlayer Cloud? It’s a free app that’s designed specifically for videos. For many moms, taking videos on a smartphone is the new norm. I do it all the time now. But videos take up a lot of space on your phone; and, if you lose your phone, you lose those memories forever. Just last month I had to delete a lot of videos off my phone because I ran out of room. RealPlayer Cloud is an easy way to free up space on your smartphone and keep your cherished videos safe and secure.

image

You may think why do I need this?

As an added bonus, anytime you want to watch one of those videos on your phone, tablet, PC or TV; privately share a video with a friend, family member or loved one; or move one of your videos to another device, RealPlayer Cloud makes it super convenient and easy to do so. Let’s say you don’t have your phone with you, or you are out with friends or you want your family that lives across the US to be able to watch the video of your kids performance. That’s what we did. My kids did their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory performance and we were able to share it instantly with the app because of the automatic upload from the phone. It was so easy! This is a snippit from a video I took of my son dancing at a dance party with my phone.

image

Downloading RealPlayer Cloud’s app is free, and every person gets 2GB of free storage space when they sign up. You even get free bonus space as you add devices to your account. If you require additional storage space, just let them know know; RealPlayer Cloud provides Silver, Gold and Platinum subscription plans and we’d they are quite happy to provide you with complimentary access.

To get started with RealPlayer Cloud, follow these easy steps:

1) Download the app for your iOS, Android, Kindle Fire and/or Windows device(s)
2) Sign up for your free account
3) You can also sign in to your account at www.real.com from any computer, smartphone, or tablet’s web browser
4) To add the RealPlayer Cloud account to the Roku device provided, visit http://www.roku.com/channels/#!details/30800/realplayer-cloud or add it from the Channel store once your Roku is hooked up to your TV
The Experience RealPlayer Cloud allows you to shoot videos directly from within the app and add them to your cloud account; free up space on your phone or tablet by adding videos from your camera roll to your account; or, move videos on your computer to your account.
