Last month, I was given the opportunity to be a part of the Summer Adventure Mom Blog Challenge that is being sponsored by one of my favorite places, Michaels. When I read the stipulations, I quickly realized that this was the answer to a maiden’s prayer…and not just for me. While I have a nice plan for how to keep my kids occupied this Summer, there is still that fear…you know what I am talking about. The fear of being home with them for THREE WHOLE MONTHS and doing everything you can not to hear the dreaded words, "Mom, I’m bored". And we all know what happens when our children smell fear, right? Unhuh. Anyway, the reason I was so thrilled about this Challenge was that part of it is to sign the "Unplugged Summer Pact" which is aimed at decreasing the amount of time spent with screen time…tv, computer, smartphone, video games, and so on and so on and so on…by 2 hours. I don’t know about you but we can totally do that!
Here’s what the pact says…
Want to join us and sign the Unplugged Summer Pact? You will be glad you did, I guarantee it. To sign up, you can go here to do so now!
So that those 2 hours are not left, gaping open at you like some giant maw, Michaels is even offering a 7-week summer crafting camp called Passport to Imagination. It goes from June 17- August 2, 2013 at your local Michaels store. Each class is a 2-hour crafting adventure that takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 am -Noon. And the best part…it’s just $2 per session for children 5 and up!! How is that for cheap and easy local fun?! I cannot wait to take my kids!

So join me in cutting back on the never-ending screen time and let’s engage in more fun-filled creative activities with family, friends, and most of all, YOU!!!
