Visit to The Set of ABC’s Mistresses And Tonight’s Episode!

June 9, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

A few months ago I was in LA on the set of Mistresses. I love visiting the sets because it’s so crazy how small they are sometimes, and you can’t imagine how they fit the cameras and extra lighting into these small places and make them look big. One of the places we visited was Savi’s house and if you watched the season premiere last week you know they are selling it. It’s so sad to me when I see a marriage that didn’t work out, and we have no idea what happened to her baby. I mean we assume she lost it right but how, what happened in the hospital, did her husband make a choice between her and her baby to save her life and she can’t forgive him? That’s my guess!

They had such a beautiful house.

We also saw April’s store,

IMG_1605IMG_1609IMG_1610IMG_1613IMG_1618IMG_1611

The set of April’s store was really quite large. There were two different rooms and there was so much space in the main floor of her store. And the items chosen for her store, can I just say wow. I love boutique type shops. We also saw April’s house.

We saw a few other things as well but I’m not ready to divulge all the secrets of this season to you.

Mistresses 202_Savi, April and Karen

"Boundaries" – April throws caution to the wind and begins a blissful affair with handsome artist Daniel Zamora (guest star Ricky Whittle). Meanwhile, Joss and Harry seem to clash over everything when they’re hired to throw a lavish party for a wealthy housewife (guest star Krista Allen). Savi returns to the firm and bristles at sharing an office with stunning new attorney Antonia Ruiz (guest star Rebeka Montoya), who appears to have no sense of personal boundaries. Karen faces some ghosts from her past when she’s called upon to testify at Elizabeth Grey’s parole hearing, on "Mistresses" MONDAY, JUNE 9 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Some Mistresses Fashion Hints & Tweet Along Tonight #ABCTV #Mistresses

June 2, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

This year the characters in Mistresses are going to be as hot and sexy as ever. Don’t think that a near death experience is going to hold Savi or any of the other characters back for a second because it won’t. I had the opportunity to get an inside scoop into some of the fashion going to be worn on the first episode of this season airing tonight.

IMG_1583Roemehl Hawkins the costume designer was talking to us about a color she used the "color of the season" (Radiant Orchid) in Joss’ outfit in the Mistresses S2. Since I had no idea what that meant, I assume you guys don’t either. Here is a chart of those color hues.

graphic from http://www.pantone.com/pages/fcr/?season=spring&year=2014

And here is a photo of Joss wearing the colors

Check out these women, each women has their own personality and that’s something that the designer things about when she’s picking out clothing for the sets. Each outfit has to fit the character and keep them edgy, look at this,

IMG_1584

I really think that looking at the fashion of a series really is one of my favorite things. I’ve always wished that I was an actress just so I could have the best looking clothes or wear crazy dresses that you can’t just wear as a mom around the house.

IMG_1585IMG_1586

Every detail from the shoes to the handbags is really thought out.

IMG_1587

IMG_1590

I don’t know if you guys have noticed this or not but shirts like the one above with a graphic are so in right now. I remember seeing Juila Roberts in a really nice silk white shirt with Darth Vador on it.

And you can’t forget about the jewelry.

Jimmy Kimmel Live and On The Set #ABCTVEVENT

May 14, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

I’ve been a fan of Jimmy Kimmel since I saw the video he did with Idina Menzel creating the Frozen song Let it Go using children’s instruments. It was amazing! I know he’s been around longer than that, I’m just usually in bed by the time his show comes on, he is considered late night you know. While I was on the set, meeting his writers, watching the show, and then meeting Jimmy Kimmel himself I realized I was missing some quality television full of laughter. “Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on ABC

The guests on Jimmy Kimmel that night were Sally Field and Julia Roberts two amazing actresses that have been friends for a long long time. Remember that movie Steel Magnolias, well they were friends even before that movie from the 80’s. Sally Field said, sometimes you make a friend and it’s a great relationship and it’s always there no matter how long you go without talking to that person, and Julia is that for her. I have a few friendships like that. Who else can you have a curse off with right?

Here is Julie Roberts vs. Sally Field in Celebrity Curse Off

Our group of 25 bloggers was too large to be placed together in the audience so they set up a VIP area for us to watch the show. There we were served drinks and Mexican food because it was Cinco De Mayo. Welcoming us to the show was Executive Producer Jill Leiderman, as well as co-head writer Molly McNearney – who has been with the show for 10 years and has been married to Jimmy Kimmel for almost one year and is expecting their first baby together. image

Molly said, “We give Jimmy about 75 pages to go through for material.  By the time he’s done, he gets it down to a page and a half.  We all have stuff that gets cut.”  Being that it’s stuff that is researched and made fun of daily, there’s rarely a chance to re-submit your previous joke to try for another night.  Instead the material is fresh every day.  Molly also told us that even though they write the script actors still improvise.  Yes, everything is pretty planned on the show.IMG_1528IMG_1529

So we ate delicious food and watched the show. Even Sally and Jimmy had some tequila shots.

You can see more of Jimmy Kimmel shorts on the Jimmy Kimmel Youtube Channel.

IMG_1533

We ended the night with Jimmy Kimmel while we were touring the set he came out and took photos with each one of us. That’s a great star when they take the time to individually meet you. He shook our hands and said hi. It was a great night.

On The Set of General Hospital #ABCTVEVENT #GH

May 6, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Yesterday I shared with you the fashion for the Nurses’ ball now today I’m going to share with you the behind the scenes sets. You may recognize the art gallery.

And here we have some of the cast members

IMG_1357

My crazy friends Kas and Tara jumped up and sat right down on the set of the police station in Port Charles. We were told not to touch anything, you can see how well they listened. (Actually the set guy came over and hand cuffed Tara to the table) It was so funny because she thought she was stuck there when they are just fake and come right off with no trouble at all.

IMG_1365

The set seems so much smaller in real life. I’m amazed at what they are able to do with cameras and lighting.

IMG_1364

It was really cool seeing the sets and just walking around the same places that are on TV every weekday. I haven’t watched much General Hospital, All My Children was my soap of choice, and I imagine that my fascination would have been 100 times more but this was still very very exciting.

IMG_1367

Then my friends Leanette and Deanna had an alien baby which was also over the top hilarious.

And finally we have our photo of all of us together on the set of General Hospital.

Port Charles will once again hold the iconic Nurses Ball gala, a fundraiser for HIV and AIDS awareness and research. As the Nurses Ball 2014 begins, several popular Port Charles residents will be noticeably absent from the Red Carpet and stuck at home watching the festivities on TV. Old and new loves will percolate while others find themselves in awkward situations. Amidst all the romantic drama, the never-dull Nurses Ball audience will be entertained with fun performances and sexy surprises. The Nurses Ball episodes air May 8 through May 13. “General Hospital” airs MONDAY – FRIDAY (2:00- 3:00 p.m., ET) on The ABC Television Network.

May The Fourth Be With You #StarWarsRebelsEvent #ABCTVEvent #MillionDollarArmEvent

April 27, 2014 by Momstart 2 Comments

I’m super excited about May The Fourth this year because I’ll be in LA learning all about the new series Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD. My kids are super excited about Star Wars Rebels and we’re going to set the DVR to record it so we don’t miss a single episode.

clip_image001[4]

I’m also going to be visiting the set of Jimmy Kimmel.

clip_image001[6]

I will attend a live taping of JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! from a VIP room in the show’s theatre! Executive Producer Jill Leiderman will stop by before the show to chat and afterwards, Jimmy’s trusty security guard Guillermo Rodriguez will be your guide on a tour of the set! Plus, you will mix, mingle and chat with the creators/executive producers of a variety of ABC shows about their upcoming season finales & summer premieres AND visit the set of ABC’s sassy summer drama, MISTRESSES, where you will meet & greet with available cast members for interviews!

clip_image002

clip_image001

And last but not least I will be attending the red carpet premiere of MILLION DOLLAR ARM (opening in theatres on 5/16).

clip_image001[8]

Sounds like it’s going to be full of entertainment.

Meeting The Moms of ABC TV #ABCTVEVENT

April 14, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

Moms come in all shapes and sizes and no matter what their profession or how they gave birth if they take care of a child that they call their own they are a mom. We often forget that actors and actresses are just down to earth people that love their job. Their life looks extremely glamorous but once they get home from work it’s the same as us. They get home run upstairs change clothes into comfy yoga pants and are ready to tackle the day a home. At least that’s how Ming-Na Wen describes her home. Her husband says he would prefer a few minutes with the fake Ming-Na, but he’s still quite happy to have her home for the day.

image

Ming-Na wasn’t the only ABC TV mom that we met. I also met, Wendi McLendon-Covey of THE GOLDBERGS (@wendimcclendonco), Amanda Fuller of LAST MAN STANDING (@amandafuller27), Patricia Heaton of THE MIDDLE (@PatriciaHeaton), Frankie Shaw of MIXOLOGY (@frankishawisag), Alexis Carra of MIXOLOGY (@alexiscarra),Toks Olagundoye of THE NEIGHBORS (@ToksOlagundoye), Jami Gertz of THE NEIGHBORS, Malin Akerman of TROPHY WIFE (@MalinAkerman). Moms that love to talk about their children just as much as we do!

image

I felt so blessed for the experience and I’m kicking myself because I left all my photos on my old phone. I have a picture with Patricia Heaton and Jami Gertz. Both of whom I was able to talk to for quite a while eating appetizers and drinking cocktails together. Patricia spoke a lot about her son and Jami had lots of parenting advice while also saying as a parent you just do the best you can.

But at least I found this photo of me and Tara with the Mixology girls.

image

The Moms of ABC are at all different stages of motherhood. They all play mother’s on TV but not all can pull from that experience some of the moms had to spend the day with a niece or nephew to get a real parenting experience. What I loved most was hearing Ming-Na tell me that she, like me wouldn’t be able to home school her children without someone in the house getting hurt. And when she has to deal with behavior sometimes the best thing to say is “Don’t make me go Agent May on you!”

image

Which reminds me, Agents of Shield is really good right now cleaning up the aftermath of what happened in Captain America The Winter Soldier (Now in theaters).

On The Set Of The Middle: A Realistic “Lived-In” Home #TheMiddle #ABCTVEvent

March 26, 2014 by Momstart 2 Comments

The best set I’ve ever been on is The Middle’s house set because it was like walking in a house. It had the structure of a house and a hallway that lead down to the bedrooms and into the master bedroom. It was smaller than you would imagine and messy as can be and I feel in love with it.  Here’s There coffee table and IMG_1415

Here’s Mine:

my desk

My house always looks lived in, it’s real life people!!!. The kids toys are always in the floor, socks are always in the floor and dishes are always on the counter. The one thing I will always carry with my from my grandmother is that your kids will grow up and leave your house one day, but the mess will always be there. Even when you clean your house it will get messy again so just make sure you’re kids know who you are. And The Middle shows us this!

image

I watched tonight’s episode of The Middle while I was there in LA visiting the Set and meeting the main characters of the show the Middle, The Heck family and I found that the mom and dad are a lot like Andrew and I. In the way that they don’t talk to each other they just sort of sit in silence. We do that a lot, we say something when we have something to say but that’s about it. It doesn’t mean we’re not here. So it was refreshing in a way. Patricia Heaton is so down to earth in person and her character embodies the mom that is barely in control of her life and that’s how I often feel.

119816_0015

Two-time Emmy winner Patricia Heaton stars in this warm and witty single-camera comedy about raising a family and lowering your expectations. Middle-aged, middle class and living in the middle of the country in Orson, Indiana, Frankie Heck is a harried wife and mother of three who uses her wry wit and sense of humor to get her family through each day intact. Having been fired as the least successful sales woman at the town’s only surviving car dealership, Frankie re-evaluated her career path and is now working as a dental assistant. Her unflappable husband, Mike, is manager at the local quarry and her sardonic partner in the daily grind that is raising their average – yes, most definitely average – family.

“The Middle” stars Patricia Heaton as Frankie, Neil Flynn as Mike, Charlie McDermott as Axl, Eden Sher as Sue and Atticus Shaffer as Brick. “The Middle” was created and is executive-produced by Eileen Heisler and

And a lot more of the “Lived In” house that I love…..

TONIGHT on The Middle

“The Walk” – After bumping into some old acquaintances on a walk around the neighborhood, Frankie and Mike realize that they are more interesting and charming with them than they are with each other and search for a way to remedy the situation. Meanwhile, Sue ends up with multiple dates to the prom because she is too nice to turn down any of the boys who asked her, and Brick enlists Axl’s aid in preparing an “outside the box” book report, on “The Middle,” WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

After watching the episode come back and let me know if you saw any of the things in my pictures on the show?

ABC’s The Black Box #ABCTVEvent

March 21, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

Here’s an interesting new show of intrigue on ABC. Mental illness has a negative stigma; people are at risk of being misunderstood and judged severely if there is something mentally wrong with you. And ABC is making a show about a doctor, Dr. Black, who hides that she’s bipolar and treating other people with mental disabilities.

image

Dr. Catherine Black, world famous neurologist, is at the top of her game. Each week, this beautiful and brilliant doctor will attempt to unravel the mysteries of the brain while hiding her own secret: she’s bipolar. The medical stories are moving, bizarre and a visual feast. The personal stories are riveting. It’s a brand new, cutting edge ABC drama series, "Black Box," premiering on THURSDAY, APRIL 24 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

The twenty-first century is the era of the brain, and this show will be riding that wave on the cutting edge of medicine. The brain is the source of everything — from whom we love to how we act and feel. It is the ultimate mystery, which is why doctors call it, the "black box." Catherine and the staff of "The Cube" will constantly be challenged by cases never seen before on television. The patients have rare, highly visual, often hallucinogenic and startling conditions, which we will see through their eyes as Catherine diagnoses and treats them.

Dr. Black’s home base is in New York City where she works as the medical director of a state-of-the-art neurological center known as "The Cube." Inside its modern walls, this complex woman draws patients from all over the world. Outside, she keeps multiple secrets from her family and loved ones. There’s only one person who knows everything — her psychiatrist, Dr. Helen Hartramph (Vanessa Redgrave). Hartramph is intuitive, deeply insightful, and strong, an imposing mentor and mother figure. She’s a touchstone that Catherine returns to weekly for advice, medication and comfort. Meanwhile, Catherine keeps the men in her life on their toes as she is torn between Will (David Ajala), a sexy, handsome new chef with his own restaurant in Brooklyn, and her co-worker, the charismatic, womanizing chief of neurosurgery, Dr. Ian Bickman (Ditch Davey). Will wants love and commitment, but can a free spirit like Catherine ever commit? Bickman’s work comes first and he would never contemplate settling down, at least until he meets Dr. Catherine Black. But what does Bickman really know about Catherine?  Less than he imagines.

Dr. Owen Morely (Terry Kinney), the chief of staff and department chairman of The Cube, is Catherine’s former teacher, current boss and mentor and fellow neurologist – a gentleman to his core. They share cases and mutual admiration. But her closest confidant is within her family circle – her older brother, Joshua Black (David Chisum). Joshua and Catherine are forever bonded by the struggle they shared to overcome a difficult childhood.

"Black Box" stars Kelly Reilly as Catherine Black, Ditch Davey as Dr. Ian Bickman, David Ajala as Will Van Renseller, Ali Wong as Dr. Lina Lark, Laura Fraser as Reagan Black, David Chisum as Joshua Black, Siobhan Williams as Esme Black with Terry Kinney as Dr. Owen Morely and Vanessa Redgrave as Dr. Hartramph.

"Black Box" was created by Amy Holden Jones ("Mystic Pizza," "Indecent Proposal"). Ilene Chaiken ("The L Word"), Amy Holden Jones, Bryan Singer ("House," "X-Men"), Anne Thomopoulos ("Oz," "From the Earth to the Moon"), Oly Obst, Gary Michael Walters ("Drive," "Bobby"), David Lancaster ("Drive," Broadway’s "The Bridges of Madison County") and Michel Litvak are the executive producers. The premiere episode, "Kiss the Sky," was written by Jones and directed by Simon Curtis ("My Week with Marilyn").

Trophy Wife Wedding & Interview with Executive Producers #ABCTVEVENT

March 18, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

While I was working with Disney last week, I spent some time with ABC, there we watched two episodes of The Trophy Wife. We watched the wedding part 1 and part 2 and part 2 aired tonight on ABC.

133103_0021r1

Twenty-something Kate is redefining what it means to be a trophy wife. She is in over her head when she finds herself with an insta-family after falling in love with Pete, a man with three kids and two ex-wives.

Watch Tuesdays at 9:30|8:30c on ABC!

133103_0933

I had never seen Trophy Wife before and I actually had it confused with another show on A&E or Bravo or something about a senator with a trophy wife and was disgusted. I didn’t want to watch this one because I thought it was that one; but after seeing how completely wrong I was, ABC’s Trophy Wife might actually make it into my list.

Starring: Malin Akerman, Marcia Gay Harden, Ryan Scott Lee, Natalie Morales, Albert Tsai, Michaela Watkins, Bradley Whitford, Bailee Madison

In the Wedding episode Pete agrees to marry Kate and Kate finds out that her visa was never filed and she’s under risk of being deported all while trying to plan out her dream wedding.

TrophyWife_ColorLogo300 (1)

The Executive Producers Sarah Haskins and Emily Halpern

Q: How did you come up with the idea for Trophy Wife?
Sarah Haskins: We’re the creators, so we came up with the idea together. It’s very loosely based on my life. I married an older man who’d been married a few times before and has children from those different marriages. Kind of like Malin Akerman’s character, without rocking the short shorts. It’s a situation that while unique and highly specific, is also very universal. People have dealt with divorce and co-parenting. It’s very common and we thought has a place on TV.

Q: What’s next for Trophy Wife?
Sarah: Hopefully season 2!
Emily: We just finished editing our season finale and our fate is in ABC’s hands. But we hope we get to come back to do some more.
Sarah: Yeah, and appropriately, our season finale is a Mother’s Day episode. It helps wrap up Kate’s arc all season of “Am I a mom in this family’s eyes or am I just a trophy wife?”

Why You Should Be Watching ABC’s Resurrection #Resurrection #ABCTVEVENT

March 16, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

You should be watching ABC’s Resurrection, it’s got a strong mystery to it and I have a feeling every episode is going to leave you wanting more.

ABC’s "Resurrection" stars Mark Hildreth as Pastor Tom Hale, Kurtwood Smith as Henry Langston, Landon Gimenez as Jacob Langston, Frances Fisher as Lucille Langston, Omar Epps as J. Martin Bellamy, Devin Kelley as Maggie Langston, Matt Craven as Fred Langston, Samaire Armstrong as Elaine Richards and Sam Hazeldine as Caleb Richards. (ABC/Bob D’Amico). And this cast knows how to deliver!

133736_GROUP_01r2_FINALc

The Story begins with a little boy being found in another country. He just wakes up and there he is, it turns out he’s been dead for about 30 years. It’s hard to believe that this little boy is who he says he is. I mean seriously, this kind of thing doesn’t happen. So J. Martin Bellamy wants to solve this mystery before he returns home. While sorting things out, another dead body comes out of a shed!

If you watched the first episode then You have lots of questions that need to be answered, I know I did. What the heck is going on and is this town the only town this is happening in. You’ll have to follow along for the entire season and look forward to a cliff hanger at the end of this 8 week season. Yes it’s a short season but the time span is only about 2 weeks of time in the small town of Arcadia. You may think you have it figured out by then and that’s when you’re going to be hit with a big surprise.

Resurrection is based on the book The Returned by Jason Mott. However, ABC diverges from the storyline very quickly as The book has no solution to the mystery. So let’s find out together how this story is going to turn about. Why are people coming back from the dead?
