ABC For The People: A New Court of Law Series #ABCTVEvent

March 13, 2018 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Disney provided hotel and transportation for press events in LA.

For The People Group Shot

My daughter wants to be a lawyer when she grows up, she is currently studying acting and the art of debate. She is learning how to do research and come up with arguments even for things she doesn’t agree with which I think are necessary skills in life and if she follows through with this current career choice. This also makes the new ABC series For The People very interesting to me. ABC’s For The People follows the career paths of both beginning prosecutors and beginning defenders as they learn and compete to be the best lawyers they can be.

For the People ABC

For the People stars one of my current favorite actors Britt Robertson and I believe she will quickly become one of your favorite characters on the series. I got to watch the pilot episode and I found myself wanting to watch the next episode. I really enjoyed this court series, they did a good job of balancing what lawyers do with their personal stories.

ABC For the People scene

(ABC/Nicole Wilder)
From L-R: WESAM KEESH, JASMIN SAVOY BROWN, BRITT ROBERTSON, SUSANNAH FLOOD, BEN RAPPAPORT, REGE-JEAN PAGE, VONDIE CURTIS-HALL

We also had the opportunity to sit down with some of the actors from the new ABC series For The People while we were in LA just over a week ago. ABC For The People stars we chatted with included, Jasmin Savoy Brown who plays Allison Adams, Wesam Keesh who plays Jay Simmons, Rege-Jean Page who plays Leonard Knox, Susannah Flood who plays Kate Littlejohn, and executive producer and creator Paul William Davies.

ABC For the People Interview Shot

Paul who is still legally a lawyer, played around with two ideas for the show. One of them was showing the perspective of both sides of the high profile cases that come from the Mother Court in the Southern District of New York. He wanted to make sure that you get a “richer sense of how the law works and how justice is made in America.” He has been able to draw off his own experience and from the people he’s worked with and went to law school with. We got so much information from the actors and how they prepared for the roles that I feel like I could write an entire post about what it takes to prepare as an actor to be in a law series. Mostly though, I’m just going to say they had to research the part. Wesam said he did shadow a public defender, and Jasmin said her information came from Susannah who did a TON of research and told her which books to read. This show will not be “ripped from the headlines” but it will have “real world relevance.”

See For the People doing well on ABC and continuing on for more season to come.

Jimmy Kimmel Live and On The Set #ABCTVEVENT

May 14, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

I’ve been a fan of Jimmy Kimmel since I saw the video he did with Idina Menzel creating the Frozen song Let it Go using children’s instruments. It was amazing! I know he’s been around longer than that, I’m just usually in bed by the time his show comes on, he is considered late night you know. While I was on the set, meeting his writers, watching the show, and then meeting Jimmy Kimmel himself I realized I was missing some quality television full of laughter. “Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on ABC

The guests on Jimmy Kimmel that night were Sally Field and Julia Roberts two amazing actresses that have been friends for a long long time. Remember that movie Steel Magnolias, well they were friends even before that movie from the 80’s. Sally Field said, sometimes you make a friend and it’s a great relationship and it’s always there no matter how long you go without talking to that person, and Julia is that for her. I have a few friendships like that. Who else can you have a curse off with right?

Here is Julie Roberts vs. Sally Field in Celebrity Curse Off

Our group of 25 bloggers was too large to be placed together in the audience so they set up a VIP area for us to watch the show. There we were served drinks and Mexican food because it was Cinco De Mayo. Welcoming us to the show was Executive Producer Jill Leiderman, as well as co-head writer Molly McNearney – who has been with the show for 10 years and has been married to Jimmy Kimmel for almost one year and is expecting their first baby together. image

Molly said, “We give Jimmy about 75 pages to go through for material.  By the time he’s done, he gets it down to a page and a half.  We all have stuff that gets cut.”  Being that it’s stuff that is researched and made fun of daily, there’s rarely a chance to re-submit your previous joke to try for another night.  Instead the material is fresh every day.  Molly also told us that even though they write the script actors still improvise.  Yes, everything is pretty planned on the show.IMG_1528IMG_1529

So we ate delicious food and watched the show. Even Sally and Jimmy had some tequila shots.

You can see more of Jimmy Kimmel shorts on the Jimmy Kimmel Youtube Channel.

IMG_1533

We ended the night with Jimmy Kimmel while we were touring the set he came out and took photos with each one of us. That’s a great star when they take the time to individually meet you. He shook our hands and said hi. It was a great night.

The Nashville Finale & Interview with Producers Callie Khouri & Dee Johnson #ABCTVevent

May 13, 2014 by Momstart 3 Comments

Spending time with ABC Studios is actually hard for me. Why? Because I LOVE TV. I just don’t have time to watch everything that I want to watch and then they go and show me episodes of their TV shoes and then I want to see what’s going to happen next and the Season Finale of Nashville is going to leave you wanting more. So this is for the Nashville fans out there.

With the season finale happening tomorrow night, I can share with you a little about what the Executive Producers Callie Khouri & Dee Johnson, and actor Eric Close (“Teddy Conrad”) shared with the bloggers about the show and what happens in the finale.

image

Good news is Nashville will be returning it was renewed and we will find out who is going to be the bad guy, I mean girl or both and there are choices that need to be made. How does one choose from two great options. Oh do you know what I’m talking about?

In the Nashville Season 2 finale "On the Other Hand," as Will Lexington’s album climbs the chart with the help of Jeff Fordham’s deep pockets, Rayna enlists Teddy’s help to plan a huge, free concert at LP Field to draw attention to her Highway 65 debut. She will perform with Luke Wheeler and duet with Juliette before thousands of fans. Zoey, Avery and Gunnar rock out at a benefit for Deacon’s favorite charity, Sober House, and Avery plans to serenade Juliette with a song he wrote for her. But when he attempts to sing it, he doesn’t understand why she is not present. And Scarlett makes a decision about her future in Music City.

It’s a jaw dropping episode for sure and it’s going to make season 3 that much sweeter!  If you are a fan of the men in particular, they have promised a new season of even hotter guys (is that even possible?) to add to the already steamy storyline.

Callie Khouri, screen writer of Thelma and Louise, prides herself on writing about strong female characters.  Making Nashville to have the Rayna character be a strong female mattered most.

image

As we discussed characters and story lines we were asked if we’d like meet our surprise guest, and in walks Eric Close!  Yes, Eric Close who plays Teddy Conrad, Rayna Jaymes ex-husband and the current Mayor of Nashville.

image

That’s all I can share because you have to watch it yourself!

Tune in to Nashville WEDNESDAY, MAY 14th  10|9c.

Grey’s Anatomy Fashion See The Clothing From The Set #GreysAnatomy #ABCTVEVENT

April 17, 2014 by Momstart 4 Comments

I love looking at clothing and I love Grey’s Anatomy, I mean there aren’t that many people out there that don’t watch Grey’s or haven’t watched it at some time. I stopped about the time of the writer’s strike. We ended up getting rid of TV altogether and didn’t watch anything. But now is just great time to jump back on the show. Getting caught up is easy enough. Grey’s Anatomy" airs Thursdays from 9:00-10:00 p.m., ET/PT on ABC

image

Now look at the clothing…

I’m starting with this dress that Meredith wore to a wedding. This is the dress that my sister wanted me to wear to her wedding as her maid of honor. The one we found was sold at Nordstrom. I love it, the only reason why we didn’t get it was because I had to order it off the magazine without trying it on and the one I was looking at was so backless I was worried that it would go below my back. Plus I don’t have the body of Ellen Pompeo.

IMG_1396

And this is what the doctors wear on the set.

IMG_1394IMG_1392

The next photo is what Derek Shepherd wore on one of the episodes. I wish I was an expert and could tell you the exact episode he wore it on. If you know it you should tell me in the comments section.

IMG_1393

How about a wedding dress

IMG_1399

or two? I have to update this, this was worn in episode White Wedding.

The next two photos are provided by Grey’s Anatomy page on ABC.go.com.

And finally this dress

The clothing on Grey’s Anatomy is purchased, inspired by real doctors and fashion magazines. Not all of it is completely purchased some is purchased and modified and some are completely custom made. I love the clothing on Grey’s Anatomy because they all look like real people and we could go out and wear that same fashion. Be sure to watch tonight’s episode “I’m Winning”

On tonight’s episode

“I’m Winning” – Cristina is nominated for a Harper Avery and although most of her fellow doctors are ecstatic, she won’t let herself get too excited. Bailey continues to work on a young boy without an immune system — Alex considers making a change, and Derek and Callie work with a machine that can recognize emotions. Meanwhile, Richard gives the residents a pep talk about the exciting projects going on around the hospital on “Grey’s Anatomy,” THURSDAY, APRIL 17 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (Rebroadcast. OAD: 4/10/14)

“Grey’s Anatomy” stars Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, Patrick Dempsey as Derek Shepherd, Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang, Justin Chambers as Alex Karev, Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, James Pickens, Jr. as Richard Webber, Sara Ramirez as Callie Torres, Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt, Jessica Capshaw as Arizona Robbins, Jesse Williams as Jackson Avery, Sarah Drew as April Kepner, Camilla Luddington as Jo Wilson, Gaius Charles as Shane Ross, Jerrika Hinton as Stephanie Edwards and Tessa Ferrer as Leah Murphy.

Trophy Wife Wedding & Interview with Executive Producers #ABCTVEVENT

March 18, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

While I was working with Disney last week, I spent some time with ABC, there we watched two episodes of The Trophy Wife. We watched the wedding part 1 and part 2 and part 2 aired tonight on ABC.

133103_0021r1

Twenty-something Kate is redefining what it means to be a trophy wife. She is in over her head when she finds herself with an insta-family after falling in love with Pete, a man with three kids and two ex-wives.

Watch Tuesdays at 9:30|8:30c on ABC!

133103_0933

I had never seen Trophy Wife before and I actually had it confused with another show on A&E or Bravo or something about a senator with a trophy wife and was disgusted. I didn’t want to watch this one because I thought it was that one; but after seeing how completely wrong I was, ABC’s Trophy Wife might actually make it into my list.

Starring: Malin Akerman, Marcia Gay Harden, Ryan Scott Lee, Natalie Morales, Albert Tsai, Michaela Watkins, Bradley Whitford, Bailee Madison

In the Wedding episode Pete agrees to marry Kate and Kate finds out that her visa was never filed and she’s under risk of being deported all while trying to plan out her dream wedding.

TrophyWife_ColorLogo300 (1)

The Executive Producers Sarah Haskins and Emily Halpern

Q: How did you come up with the idea for Trophy Wife?
Sarah Haskins: We’re the creators, so we came up with the idea together. It’s very loosely based on my life. I married an older man who’d been married a few times before and has children from those different marriages. Kind of like Malin Akerman’s character, without rocking the short shorts. It’s a situation that while unique and highly specific, is also very universal. People have dealt with divorce and co-parenting. It’s very common and we thought has a place on TV.

Q: What’s next for Trophy Wife?
Sarah: Hopefully season 2!
Emily: We just finished editing our season finale and our fate is in ABC’s hands. But we hope we get to come back to do some more.
Sarah: Yeah, and appropriately, our season finale is a Mother’s Day episode. It helps wrap up Kate’s arc all season of “Am I a mom in this family’s eyes or am I just a trophy wife?”

Why You Should Be Watching ABC’s Resurrection #Resurrection #ABCTVEVENT

March 16, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

You should be watching ABC’s Resurrection, it’s got a strong mystery to it and I have a feeling every episode is going to leave you wanting more.

ABC’s "Resurrection" stars Mark Hildreth as Pastor Tom Hale, Kurtwood Smith as Henry Langston, Landon Gimenez as Jacob Langston, Frances Fisher as Lucille Langston, Omar Epps as J. Martin Bellamy, Devin Kelley as Maggie Langston, Matt Craven as Fred Langston, Samaire Armstrong as Elaine Richards and Sam Hazeldine as Caleb Richards. (ABC/Bob D’Amico). And this cast knows how to deliver!

133736_GROUP_01r2_FINALc

The Story begins with a little boy being found in another country. He just wakes up and there he is, it turns out he’s been dead for about 30 years. It’s hard to believe that this little boy is who he says he is. I mean seriously, this kind of thing doesn’t happen. So J. Martin Bellamy wants to solve this mystery before he returns home. While sorting things out, another dead body comes out of a shed!

If you watched the first episode then You have lots of questions that need to be answered, I know I did. What the heck is going on and is this town the only town this is happening in. You’ll have to follow along for the entire season and look forward to a cliff hanger at the end of this 8 week season. Yes it’s a short season but the time span is only about 2 weeks of time in the small town of Arcadia. You may think you have it figured out by then and that’s when you’re going to be hit with a big surprise.

Resurrection is based on the book The Returned by Jason Mott. However, ABC diverges from the storyline very quickly as The book has no solution to the mystery. So let’s find out together how this story is going to turn about. Why are people coming back from the dead?
