Stokke My Carrier – A Super Sturdy Baby Carrier
I have a feeling that I am going to be wearing Baby #2 a lot more than I ever did my first. Since I’ll have a preschooler to tend to, play with, and take care of, having my hands free while still holding our newest arrival. That’s one of the reasons I was so excited when I received a Stokke My Carrier (baby carrier) to review. I have to start out by saying I have not actually tried to carry a baby (or a toddler) in this. My third trimester belly and back just aren’t ready for that. I did however do a lot of reading, video watching, and assembling of My Carrier to write this review.
So what do I think of the Stokke My Carrier? It is super sturdy. Like many Stokke products, it comes with a slightly higher price tag (Available on Amazon between $200 and $250), but that definitely is in line with the high quality of the design and materials. The fabric of My Carrier is soft, but seems EXTREMELY durable. I also noticed that this carrier is not floppy like many other on the go baby wearing devices. I’m not sure if that makes it any less travel friendly than other carriers, but the stiff parent supports do seem like they would really help carry the weight of your child.
My Carrier from Stokke has 3 different carry options: forward facing front, inward facing front, and forward facing on your back. Unlike many other carriers that just switch positions, Stokke has designed their carrier with a detachable baby holder. The parent support remains the same while you attach the correct holder for the position you are hoping to use. You can see in the picture one option is attached while the other is on the side.
There are a lot of directions that come a long with this carrier and they are all in pictures. Personally, this really helps me. I’m a visual person, so when I finally go to strap my baby into the My Carrier, having pictures will be pretty handy to follow along with.
I’m hoping that I’ll be able to bring you a video of the Stokke My Carrier once our baby comes in June. I know videos really help me understand products. Until then, hopefully this information helps you while you’re shopping for your own baby carrier.
