Spring has finally sprung, and as the weather slowly warms up, it’s time to start putting away those winter clothes and swap in lighter looks. For parents, this can also mean doing some post-Spring-Break, back-to-school shopping for the kids so that they have the right wardrobe for the changing seasons, as they have probably outgrown a lot of last April’s clothes. So to help you pick out this season’s fashions, we’re bringing you three spring fashion tips for kids:
1. Start Off on The Right Foot
Shoes are the basis of any outfit, and with temperatures warming up, it’s time to pack away the snow shoes and heavy boots. Reef has a selection of cute kid’s shoes for spring, including these “Little Deckhand” sneakers for girls in light pastel pink and purple. Light canvas shoes, sandals and flip flops are springtime must-haves – along with a pair of rain galoshes for those unexpected April showers!
Top tip: For some true mother-daughter style, why not pick out a coordinating pair of shoes for yourself?
2. Layers Are Your Friend
A major challenge to dressing for the springtime months is the unpredictability of the weather, so make sure to pick up staples that your children can layer. For boys, light jackets and long-sleeve shirts pair well together, while girls can layer dresses with light sweaters and tights. Aim for pieces that you can mix and match – your children will get more mileage out of the outfits that way, and can adapt their clothes to the weather without too much hassle.
Accessories are a great way to jazz up any outfit. With winter over and the mittens boxed up, you can have a little more fun with accessories! Pastels and flowers are great springtime motifs for little girls – try a pink headband, flower hair clips, or chunky plastic bracelets in light yellow, green or blue. Boys can have fun with patterned socks, brightly colored shoelaces, or even badges and buttons for their jackets and backpacks. And for those sunny spring days, both boys and girls can accessorize their outfit with a hat to help keep the sun off!
