By Summer:
As promised from my spaghetti recipe, here is what we did for tacos in my house using McCormick spices. McCormick spices are a great add-in to any meal as they provide added antioxidants in your family’s diet.
Taco Recipe
Spices For Health Taco Flavoring Ingredients*:
1 Tablespoon McCormick chili powder
½ teaspoon McCormick garlic powder
½ teaspoon McCormick ground cumin
¼ teaspoon McCormick crushed red (cayenne) pepper
¼ teaspoon McCormick oregano
Taco Meat Ingredients:
1 pound of ground beef or turkey
½ medium green bell pepper, chopped
½ medium onion, chopped
Spices For Health Taco Flavoring
Directions:
In a large skillet over medium high heat brown the meat with the pepper and onion. When fully cooked add spices — For beef, drain grease from the meat. I rinse my beef to remove any access fat and wash the pan. When adding spices add 1/3 cup water. For turkey, leave all juices in the pan and add spices. Allow spices to fully cover meat and allow the juices too cook off. Place meat into tacos or taco bar dish.
* My family likes a little more spice so I added double the recommended spices to our one pound of meat.
My family enjoys having a taco bar selection. Everyone can fill their own taco with their desired ingredients using as much or as little as desired by the individual. In addition to the meat, I like to offer raw or sautéed onions, raw or sautéed bell peppers, shredded cheese, tomatoes or salsa, lettuce, sour cream, avocado or guacamole, beans, and black olive slices. Sometimes I also offer kernelled corn, this meal we had fresh from the farm corn on the cob so that was offered instead.
Adding spices and fresh vegetables adds antioxidants and nutrients to foods you already include into your normal food rotation. For more on spices from McCormick you can Like them on Facebook. Also stay tuned to Mom Start for more recipes spiced up for you by McCormick … next up, ENCHILADAS!

we do the same thing at our house but I haven’t tried that Turkey yet I always worry about it tasting funny and the kids complaining
My husband complains but my children don’t … and he doesn’t know until I tell him. He had NO CLUE these were turkey until I slipped up taking about making the tacos that day! I recommend giving it a go once. And McCormick spices the meat up just nice, so you won’t have to do any fooling!
Love using ground turkey in place of ground beef. Looks yummy!
I have never ever tried ground turkey, sounds interesting! I love the set up on your table, I want to eat at your house 🙂
Kim, I love to use lots of bowls so the food is seperate for the kids. They think it’s fun! I also love to use a 6-cup muffin tin to set out snacks or pre-dinner vegetables for grazing. My kids think this is GREAT! I think they just like compartmentalize or something.
looks easy and so good
