Speed Queen Laundry – "Essential Time Saving Tips for Mums"
Guest Post
If you’re a mum, you know the feeling. Where did the day go? Whether you’ve got one child or many, looking after them is a full-time job; and if you work as well then things can easily get overwhelming. It is possible to make your life less hectic by implementing a few handy time-saving tips.
Pre-sort the laundry
Laundry can be one of the most-time consuming chores especially if you have a big family. So why not save a bit of time by making the task of sorting through all those clothes a little easier. Putting washer- and dryer-safe mesh bags in each child’s room can make all the difference. Use a different bag for colours, darks, and lights and you can throw the bags straight in the machine like a speed queen without even thinking.
Cook ahead
If you work during the week then you can use some of your weekend to prepare meals for the rest of the week. This can save not only time cooking in the evening but also time spent at the grocery store picking up ingredients. It’ll stop you and your family eating quick junk or processed food and microwave meals that are the traditional go-to when in a rush. If you cook big batches and freeze them you can end up having enough food for more than a week.
Prepare the night before
It might seem obvious but getting things ready for the morning before you go to bed can save you a lot of time and hassle. Of course, it’s not always easy to do a lot at the end of the day; but doing a few simple things like laying the clothes out for the next day, setting the table for breakfast, and packing lunches can make it so much simpler to get your kids up and out of the door in the morning.
Take advantage of the commute
If you commute to work, whether by car or public transport, you can use the time wisely to save on stress. If you’re driving, a Dictaphone or a voice-recording app can help to make to-do lists for the week, or you can listen to an audiobook; and if you’re taking the bus then you can jot everything down on a note-pad.
Use apps to your advantage
These days there are plenty of apps to help manage your time, so take advantage of technology and you’ll have more time for the kids and yourself. Financial apps can help you manage your bank accounts without the headache or keep a budget; grocery apps allow you to use coupons or write shopping lists; food apps can help with recipe ideas that are quick and healthy.
Grocery shopping once a week
Going to the grocery store with the kids is high on the list of most stressful activities for parents. So save time and designate one day a week to getting all the shopping you need, instead of making the trip several times. Couple with meal planning and cooking ahead this can be the easiest way to save on your valuable time.
I like to double up on the meals cooked so that I can have a night off cooking! Not always a fan of takeways – however, they are a help from time to time.
