I’m helping Share Our Strength spread the word about the Great American Bake Sale. I have posted their banner on the left hand side of my blog. Helping to feed America is very important to me so I’m working in as many ways as I can to help end hunger.
About America’s Great Bake Sale:
You may have seen the latest report. More than 12 million children in the United States do not know when their next meal will come – that’s 1 in 6 children. Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale is a national effort that encourages Americans to host bake sales in their communities to help end childhood hunger. Bake Sale funds support afterschool and summer feeding programs that hundreds and thousands of kids depend on. And even better: the dollars go back to the community that raised them. You can find out more about this effort here:
My MOMS Club is working for Box out hunger and we’re collecting boxes of cereal for that. So here is what you can do with America’s Great Bake Sale.

Looking for Other Creative Options?
If you don’t want to bake, you can still get involved by holding other activities. This year, participants have held BBQs and invited friends. Others connected with their local 4-H club, baked treats for pets and sold those. The possibilities are endless.
Why should you get involved:
Why You Should Get Involved
The recession is hitting America Hard. We have more people with out a job now than in a long long time.
- 500,000 more children live in poverty now than a year ago.
- The highest unemployment levels in two decades mean that millions of Americans now rely on local food banks and pantries.
- More than 30 million Americans participate in federal nutritional assistance programs – the highest participation level in 40 years. The average benefit per person is $1.12.
We need to take care of each other.
