Season of Giving has been going quite well and we’re up to day 14. What does that mean, this is the 14th idea that Summer has shared with all of us to get us into the giving spirit. What are you going to give this season?
By Summer:
One of my favorite things is my pajamas. I love to be comfortable … all the time. Even now at 32YO, I can be caught in public in my pajamas. Everyone should have a nice comfy pair of pajamas. That’s where Pajama Program comes in “delivering warm sleepwear and nurturing books to children in need”. There are chapters all around the United States and Internationally.
Pajama Program celebrated 10 years this year. Their goal for 2011 is 500,000 items and they’re at 208,205 items – 92,599 new pajamas and 115,606 new books – and counting! Since their beginning in 2001, Pajama Program has collected 891,808 new pajamas and 511,599 new books. Pajama Program is sponsored by corporate supporters Carter’s, Scholastic Book Club, PBS Sprout, Blackman-Rakowitz Public Relations, and UPS as well as other partners. Nothing is possible, however, without contributions from caring individuals.
To financial help Pajama Program you can donate money (a minimum of $5). Find your local chapter and hold your own pajama and book drive. If you’re feeling called to start your own chapter and there’s not one in your area contact Pajama Program.
To stay connected you can register to receive their newsletter or follow co-founder, Genevieve Piturro’s blog. Or simply support Pajama Program by liking them on Facebook and following them on Twitter @PajamaProgram.
