I’ve always had a soft spot for fun “Seen on TV” products, and I also love Halloween, so it stands to reason that I’d enjoy getting a shipment with this year’s “It” products: Blobbits and Big Mouth Masks!
When I first got the email about this, I read the word “Blobbits” and had to know what exactly it was. When I clicked through the website and heard the “Blobbits! Blobbits!” jingle, I started cracking up and knew I had to check these out. Blobbits come in little plastic kits containing silicone putty and a variety of plastic pieces which you can use to assemble your own “Blobimal.” Think: Silly Putty meets Mr. Potato Head! When you’re done, leave Mr. Blob to melt into a pool of putty, take off the plastic parts, and mold him into a new creation!
Blobbits are equal parts absurd and fun, which of course means that I love them. I’m giving Blobbits as a birthday gift this year and I think it should go over a treat!
Blobbits is on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, and YouTube!
Also included in my box of fun was a set of Big Mouth Masks, which I think are equal parts cool and creepy. The kit gives you everything you need to print out a mask of whatever face you want to wear, and turn it into a sort of real-life ventriloquist dummy face.
To make your mask, you visit CreateMyMask.com to upload your photo and create the template. I began to do this using a photo I took of a cute cat hanging out in our yard.
Unfortunately, my printer started having major issues when I tried to print off my creation – totally a technical issue on my end! But once I get a better printer, I’ll have no issue making my cat mask. Once the face is printed, all you have to do is cut it out and use the adhesive included in the package to affix it to the mask backing, so it’s very straightforward. I still get a creepy vibe looking at these masks, but I definitely see the appeal for Halloween!
What kind of mask would you make? Or are you more of a Blobbits person?
