Earlier this summer, I shared a vlog with you where I detailed one of my most memorably disastrous vacations, where I booked a room at a fleabag hotel in Tacoma. A funny thing happened after I wrote that post: I got an email from the Tacoma tourism board apologizing for the bad experience and asking if I’d be willing to reconsider Tacoma with a fun day trip organized by them. I was intrigued, to say the least! Who knew Tacoma even had a tourism board? To be honest, Jai and I have always though of Tacoma as being one large, desolate strip mall with a Chuck E. Cheese in the middle. We never pictured this:

Turns out, there was a lot we didn’t know about Tacoma. In addition to the beautiful waterfront, there were also lovely parks, pretty architecture, museums, a great zoo, and many ant-free motel choices! 😉 Exactly ten years after our disastrous stay there, Jai and I discovered a whole new side to Tacoma that made us rethink our whole perception of the area. Check out my posts below, where I share our fun Tacoma adventures:
- Hotel Murano: A Beautiful Place to Stay
- An Afternoon at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium
- Exploring Wonderful Art at The Museum of Glass
And PS….we still totally hit up the Chuck E. Cheese on our way home, because Chuck E. Cheese is awesome. 😉
You know, I don’t think I’ve ever been to Tacoma. I’ve been by it more times than I can count (we make the trip up to the Seattle area fairly frequently to see the in-laws), but we’ve never actually turned off the road and gone into Tacoma! I’ll be interested to see what adventures you had while there!
I spent many weekends in Tacoma because we have relatives up there, and I have heard it has definitely changed for the better over the decades! Looking forward to your posts, since it’s been a few years since I have been back.
