Quickie’s Ultimate Summer Cleaning Kit #Giveaway

June 8, 2010 by Momstart 301 Comments

Quickie has been around since the 1920’s being a company of innovation when it comes to cleaning and tools. One of the first tools they created was the compound-action hedge shear and it changed the way Americans gardened. They continued making advances in manufacturing and now make excellent cleaning tools.

They sent me some sponges, we’re a sponge of a family. We just like sponges. We go through them like crazy, and I think this is our first time to try out the Quickie brand. They are super soft and I never knew you could have so many versions of a sponge for cleaning. They sent a microfiber pot and pan sponge, a microfiber dish and glass sponge, and a microfiber non stick cooking pan sponge. I’m going to be cleaning counters and pots. You can have even more cleaning fun!

From cleaning your floors, to your patio, and even your grill, the Quickie’s Ultimate Summer Cleaning Kit is perfect for getting your home in shape for the season.

I am a terrible cleaner, so I don’t have any great tips. My best tip is that I squeegie off the tile in the shower after I shower everyday. It makes it much easier to clean.

One of the best cleaning tips I learned a long time ago was to run all of your light fixtures (glassware over the bulbs) through the dishwasher! When their clean they produce 50% more light!

My cleaning tip is running a vinegar wash through the dishwasher and the washing machine once a month to keep odors away. Use vinegar and baking soda down the kitchen sink at least once a month or more often if needed. The vinegar and baking soda can also be done down bathroom sinks, bathtubs and showers as needed to take away odors that build up in the drain pipes.

I hate housecleaning. My tip is hire your step-granddaughter to clean once a week :-)). That’s what I did. She needed money and she loves to clean and is very good at it. She cleaned for the first time yesterday. It was so nice to come home to a clean home after a long day at work. My cleaning supplies was kind of lacking. So if I was to win, my granddaughter would be very appreciative. Thank you for the giveaway. Have a great day!

The only tip that I have that I have would be one you probably already know. I didn’t know that I could do this till this past year but it works like a charm. If your microwave gets dirty on the inside (if you have kids or a hubby that doesn’t tell you they made a mess like mine do) then stick a bowl or cup of water in the microwave for about 2 minutes (until boiling) and then take out and the mess just comes off with little effort. I love that the steam just takes it right off.

I cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a squirt bottle with water and vinegar to clean with…..then the rind I stick in the garbage disposal and for the next few days, whenever I turn on the disposal, I get a nice lemony scent! The rind usually lasts a week. 🙂

I’d suggest picking a room every few weeks and cleaning it top to bottom and just doing little cleaning jobs every few days. This way, that room stays clean, but also homey (if it’s too clean, my boyfriend claims it’s not “lived in”). I would also suggest using natural cleaners whenever possible, not just because of the ecological value, but the smell as well. Most natural cleaners have a lighter smell and I’ve found I don’t get headaches cleaning with them.

I always keep my vacuum out and handy. With 3 little ones, my house needs to be vacuumed at least once a day (or more!) I also keep a set of cleaning supplies in each bathroom. Makes it really easy to do a quick bathroom clean up while I’m in there! I struggle with keeping up on the deep cleaning. I started a calendar where I clean 1 room a day each week. It makes it not so overwhelming for me. For example, Monday: Laundry, Tuesday: Family Room, Wednesday: Bathrooms, Thursday: Kitchen, Friday: Bedrooms, Saturday: Basement

I’ll try to go with one that wasn’t mentioned before (maybe it was!): I have had to tear off a lot of wallpaper off of walls in my life, and I have found using a spray bottle of hot water with a few spoonfuls of liquid fabric softener makes the process incredibly easy. The tiny bits of paper and glue just come right off. And the room and walls smell great! Thanks so much for the chance to win this wonderful kit!! buckeye7081 at gmail dot com

In my house I say put whatever you used away as soon as you are done with it and you won’t have a cluttered house.

I use bleach to clean my stainless steel sink. I put about 1 inch of hot water into the sink then add about 1/8 cup of bleach, let sit for a few minutes then wipe and rinse. The sink comes out looking beautiful and is presumably germ free :).

Here’s my multi-tasking cleaning tip: If you have an item of laundry that needs to be handwashed, take it into the shower with you. Wash it, hang it up on the showerhead, and then scrub out the bathtub and shower with a sponge & cleaning supplies (Just be careful not to slip!!). Then, finish taking your shower as normal. Then you will have a clean shower, a clean item of delicate clothing, and a shower too! 😀

My cleaning tip is all about variety! Write the names of rooms you need to clean and other projects you need to do (go thru mail, break down recycling boxes, etc), then put them in a container. Draw three from the container, then do each room/task for 20 minutes. After, take a break. In about 20 minutes, start the process all over again. You’ll go from task to task with the knowledge that you’ll only be there for 20 minutes, so you won’t be overwhelmed nor will you work slowly (right?).

Baking soda is a soft abbrassive for cleaning sinks and tubs. You can also use it as a carpet freshener. Just sprinkle a little on your carpet and wait 15 minutes, then vacuum up. You can also add a few drops of scented oil to the baking soda and then sprinkle.
