I flew to New York City over the weekend for the Ricki And The Flash press junket. I arrived at JFK airport Saturday afternoon and headed straight to Sony Tower, where we enjoyed an advance screening of the film – more to come on that! After the credits rolled, we headed to an adjoining room where a hair and makeup team were waiting to give us our very own rock star makeovers!
It was the perfect time to freshen up my hair and makeup, since I’d been traveling all day. I love makeup and fashion and get excited whenever I get a chance to have a pro work their magic on me. I love trying new looks and styles, so I told the makeup artist to do whatever she wanted. The awesome Lydia got to work on my face, giving me the big smoky eye look I love while I tried “The Ricki” cocktail.
After my makeup was on point, she got to work on my hair, taking inspiration from the movie and giving me what I like to call “The full Meryl”! On one side, I had a pinup-style curl, and on the other, I had two pretty braids just like Ricki Rendazzo. I loved it so much!
Once everyone was all dolled up, we hopped on a “Party bus” complete with strobe lights and dance music, which we rode to Hill Country for a yummy BBQ dinner and some live music. And, once the night’s activities came to a close, I went on to have my own special after-after-party! Our NYC writer, Jessie, met me at my hotel, and we headed out with Carol and another local friend. We took a cab through Times Square and then made a quick walk to a local pub to watch UFC 190. I was so happy to have great makeup and hair since I was hitting Manhattan on a Saturday night! Watching Ricki And The Flash, getting my hair done and then having a girl’s night out cheering on Ronda Rousey was the perfect end to a day full of women who rock!
