It’s the very last day of 2015! While a New Year’s Eve party is always a good time, it’s also a late night which tired parents may be a little unenthused about. But thanks to the miracle of Netflix, you can ring in 2016 any time you like! Just in time for NYE, Netflix has uploaded 6 fun countdown clips featuring characters like the Care Bears and Inspector Gadget. When you’re ready for it to be the New Year, simply turn on one of these countdowns for the kids and ring in 2016 – no one will be the wiser if it’s 12 AM, or 9 PM! Hey, it’s midnight somewhere! Once you ring in the New Year, you can send the kiddos to bed and either have a grown-up party, or go to bed yourself – neither is a bad option!!
Just click on the images below to add your favorite countdown to your Netflix queue:

To get into a party mood, we set up some decorations featuring our favorite characters!

Here’s what my NYE party must-haves are for ringing in 2016:
- Party hats & 2016 glasses: These glasses were a big hit last year!
- Balloons & noisemakers: Perfect for making some noise to ring in the New Year! And the balloons are a great alternative to throwing confetti, because you won’t be digging it out of your couch for 6 months!
- Snacks: Every party needs a good snack, and this year, we’re opting for a “Candy Bouquet” which my crafty cousin made. To create your own, take a vase and fill the bottom with loose candy like M&Ms, or shredded tissue, if you prefer. Then, take small, snack-sized candy bars and tape them to the end of craft dowels and arrange them into the vase to create a bouquet that looks good enough to eat!
- Activities: You’ll need something to do leading up to the big moment, so have some entertainment lined up, such as markers and stickers for creating the last artwork of 2015, and games like the Twister Moves Hip Hop Spots dancing game you see pictured – fun AND helps burn off some of that energy before bedtime! Win win!
What are your New Year’s Eve Plans? However you celebrate, we wish you a very happy 2016!
