Later this week I’m on my way to Anaheim to attend the D23Expo as a guest of Disney. I can’t believe it. I’ve been wanting to attend this event for years. I even wanted to take my children to the D23Expo to learn What’s new at Disney’s D23Expo. Just in case you have no idea what D23Expo is, let me tell you……..It’s the ComicCon of Disney. It’s where you learn what’s New at Marvel, Disney and Pixar and all the Disney Parks.
D23Expo is the event of events if you are a fan of Disney. They make announcements to all things Disney, TV Shows, movies, the parks you name it if it’s Disney and new it’s going to be announced here. You also have the opportunity to find special Disney merchandise. It’s majorly exciting.
Because I’m a guest of Disney they have taken care of my entire schedule from the moment I arrive in Anaheim.
What’s New At D23Expo
I’ll be listening to the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony which I fear will bring me to tears as there will be a tribute to Carrie Fisher. She is surely missed in the Disney family. Also honored will be Mark Hamill, Oprah Winfrey, Stan Lee, and Julie Taymor. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Disney Legends Awards. The first Disney Legend was Fred MacMurray (The Shaggy Dog, The Absent-Minded Professor, The Happiest Millionaire), who was honored in 1987.
Then we’ll be listening to what’s coming at Pixar! Of course you all know that Coco is coming this year, but soon we’ll be seeing things about a Wreck It Ralph sequel. John Lasseter will be announcing more about Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. In addition to other announcements, musical performances and appearances by star voice talent.
Then we’re off to Disneyland.
We will be exploring DuckTales. Growing up I loved watching DuckTales and I’m super excited to be watching the first episode and really hope we get to “run” into David Tennant who plays Scrooge. We will be swimming in his Money Bin and watch the first episode. We also will have a brief Q&A with Executive Producer Matt Youngberg and Co-Producer/Story Editor Francisco Angones.
We will get a preview of what’s new with Live Action movies for all things Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm. Oh how I can’t wait to get this behind-the-scenes glimpse at the exciting array of spectacular films.
I will get some time to explore the D23 EXPO show floor which I know will be amazing.
Then I get to see what’s new with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. I know there is a lot going on at the parks around the globe.
This day will also end with time at Disneyland.
My Final Day Sunday,
We begin with seeing the Walt Disney Archives exhibit, “A Pirates Life For Me”. The exhibit, A Pirate’s Life for Me: Disney’s Rascals, Scoundrels and Really Bad Eggs” is a 12,000-square-foot exhibit, located on the Expo show floor, that will honor Disney’s treasured pirates from the films, television and beloved Disney parks. There will be so many amazing props, set pieces and costumes that I can’t wait to see in person. Also included will be “Fantastical Fashions”. This will include the dazzling selection of dresses worn by beloved heroines and sinister villainesses. These include costumes from six of Disney’s live-action fantasy films including Enchanted, Maleficent and Beauty and the Beast.
Next on the schedule for the last day will be a celebration of one of the best movies of my childhood, The Lion King. They will be sharing some very special secrets from behind the making of this timeless animated classic. Then we will be listening to a presentation from Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection Robin Hood. This will include previously unreleased demos and bonus tracks performed by Louis Prima.
It’s going to be an exhausting few days.
