Disclosure: I’m proud to be working with CVS Pharmacy on the CVS Pharmacy Difference Campaign. All opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate manufacturers.
Back in 2008 when I first started out in blogging, I wrote primarily about coupons and saving money, and I always wished that we had a CVS Pharmacy in our area since I’d always see amazing deals with their ExtraCare Rewards program. That’s why I was so excited to attend the grand opening of CVS Pharmacy at Target in Portland back in June! With 18 locations throughout Oregon, CVS Pharmacy at Target is giving me a chance to finally experience the “CVS Difference” that I’ve been reading about for years!
Last week, Jai and I made our first trip to check out CVS Pharmacy at Target in Hillsboro. I wanted to get us set up for the next time we need to fill a prescription or get a flu shot – yes, cold season is almost here again, can you believe it?!
For a savvy shopper like me, the first order of business was getting my ExtraCare card all set up so I could take advantage of the ExtraCare Rewards program. With the ExtraCare loyalty program and ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards, you can earn $5 in ExtraBucks Rewards with every 10 prescriptions filled, as well as when you get an immunization or take advantage of other offers, such as setting up email refill reminders for your prescriptions. You can then use your ExtraBucks Rewards towards your online purchases at CVS.com!
Speaking of the CVS website, their pharmacy page has been set up to simplify prescription management. You can use the Prescription Center to view your current prescriptions, transfer prescriptions, schedule refills, sign up for text notifications when your prescriptions are ready to pick up, view a Prescription Calendar, get suggestions for saving money on prescriptions, and locate the nearest CVS Pharmacy to you. They also have an extensive Drug Information Center that includes a Drug Interaction Checker, a customizable medicine list that you can print out and take to your doctor, videos explaining how different medications work, and even access to details that were previously not readily available to consumers, like side effect occurrence rates and typical medication strengths prescribed. I do a lot of homework any time I get a prescription so that I can be aware of potential side effects, so this is a great resource for me!
Another helpful online tool is the CVS Mobile App. Helpful information is right at your fingertips on the app, such as a Pill Identifier tool, and you can take advantage of handy features such as MedRemind notifications. MedRemind helps you stay on track with your medication schedule and reminds you to take your prescriptions at the right time each day, and can even notify caregivers if a dose is missed. Additionally, you can scan a prescription with your phone to fill it right from the app, as well as scan updated insurance cards and medication UPCs in order to load them in the Drug Interaction Checker. The CVS Mobile App is also compatible with Apple Watch. Isn’t technology amazing?!
After we wrapped up our visit to the CVS Pharmacy, Jai and I were able to take care of some shopping we needed to do in Target, buying a new coffee maker and a few other items on our list. Having a CVS Pharmacy right inside Target is so convenient! Plus, this allows me to take advantage of an expanded pharmacy network, with the ability to get prescriptions filled at thousands of CVS locations around the country – super helpful for people who travel a lot, like me. Now I know what the CVS difference is all about!
