2016 Beale Street Music Festival Artist Lineup
February 24, 2016. Memphis, TN: Memphis in May International Festival announces the lineup for 2016 Beale Street Music Festival, including more than 60 broad-ranging musical acts, across multiple genres. The festival, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2016, debuts a star-studded lineup that illustrates why it is consistently named in top festival rankings by national media outlets.
Headliners for this year’s event include internationally acclaimed artists such as: musical legend and two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Neil Young, performing with his current touring group the Promise of the Real, lo-fi alt-rocker Beck, renowned singer-songwriter and 12-time Grammy Award winner Paul Simon, Weezer, acclaimed international DJ Zedd, Train, recent Best New Artist Grammy Award winner Meghan Trainor, Billboard chart topping Jason Derulo, and Modest Mouse. Walter Trout, Ana Popovic and Bernard Allison will headline the popular Blues lineup in 2016. The vast musical genres represented by the 2016 list of performers will appeal to fans from all ages and all musical leanings, and assure festival goers three days of musical bliss.

First time artists for the 2016 Beale Street Music Festival include Neil Young + Promise of the Real, Paul Simon, Weezer, Modest Mouse, Zedd, Meghan Trainor, Jason Derulo, Young the Giant, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Bastille, The Arcs, Courtney Barnett, Trampled by Turtles, The Lone Bellow, and The Struts. In total, 30 artists are first-time Beale Street Music Festival performers.
Memphis is also well represented in the 2016 lineup, with 14 local acts performing over the three days, including hip hop mega-talent Yo Gotti, emerging indie darling Julien Baker, guitar-master and story-teller Luther Dickinson, Big Star’s Jody Stephens’ new project Those Pretty Wrongs, Will Tucker, Barbara Blue and Duwayne Burnside.

Always a festival-destination favorite among music fans, Beale Street Music Festival was recently added to Travel + Leisure’s list of “2016 Music Festivals Worth Traveling For”, the “Top 22 Music Festivals for 2016” by Fuse TV, and Festival 300’s list of the top 300 festivals worldwide.
This year’s festival features four Canadian acts in honor of the Memphis in May salute to Canada in 2016. Order of Canada recipient and music legend Neil Young will make his first Memphis performance in over 30 years when he headlines the first night of the festival. Perennial crowd pleasing pop stars the Barenaked Ladies, genre-mingling singer-songwriter Coleman Hell, and Juno award-winning bluesman Jack Semple round out the celebration of our neighbor to the North.
