As I have been going through our Christmas Photos I see some things that I’m just not happy with. I have lost a little weight since my surgery but have come to realize that everything that I have lost has just been my muscle mass. Not doing anything makes those muscles go away fast. See all those round spots, tummy, hips, and thighs. And here I am eating milk and cookies for a bed time snack, it’s a great way to lose weight don’t you think. My excuse is that it’s not the first yet.
My goal is to get back into shape and I’ve got some blogging help to do it. One, I’m going to get back into the Fitness Friday Posts with the Wii Fit Mommies. Writing about my journey every week should help. Another thing I have to help with it is a set of four giveaways that are for me to review and to share with all of you. I’m very excited about sharing with you guys. My goal is 20 pounds before BlogHer2010.
I need to refocus my heart and give it back to God. I’m terrible about posting about Him because I’m afraid of offending my readers, but that’s not how I should act. So I’m going to try to have a devotion once a week, and not just for me but also for my children. My kids are understanding everything so they need to get to know their Maker too.
I need to get more organized. Since my blog took off this past year, I’m hoping that it will continue to grow. With growth comes a need to get organized again, I got behind with the madness of advertising and Christmas. I just completely lost my blog focus these last few months. I need to return e-mails in a more timely manner and be more choosy. I need to organize my blog as well. I need to also figure out how to organize my time better. Sometimes I wonder how some of these successful mom bloggers get all this blogging done and raise their family. I’ve been able to post about four or five posts since my surgery because I can’t do anything else other than be on the computer. When my husband goes back to work and I’m left alone with the kids I’m going to have to make time come out of thin air to get everything done. Which is another reason I’m going to need to be choosy on what I do and do not blog about.
I need to be more personable. I want to comment on more blogs. I want to try and visit more people and comment more and be more thankful of what all of my readers provide to me. I know that I give you guys a lot with the sheer amount of giveaways but none of it would be possible if I didn’t have any readers.
I hope to reach 2,000 RSS subscribers and 10,000 twitter followers in the next year. I know that if I write more interesting content I’ll have more subscribers and followers. So I’m going to try to make a few new weekly articles. Like cooking with the kids and bring in more information for Mom Start Saving.
I need to save more money with coupons and monetize my blog. I currently use Juice Box Jungle and highly recommend it. I also write the occasional sponsored review for Sponsored Reviews and Blogvertise. I also like to sell some advertisement space. I know that I’m barely tapping into the potential that is there but my kids come first so we’ll see how much actually changes over the next year. But using coupons and saving money can be just as lucrative as having another job and I’ll show you that this year.
So to Summarize:
My New Years Resolutions are
Lose Weight
Focus on God
Get Organized
Be more Social
Increase Blog Stats/Improve Content
Save/Make money
Gah, I haven’t even thought about resolutions yet, but I suppose they’d be right along the same lines as yours.
Also-your children have the most gorgeous hair. <3
Those are great resolutions. I can relate to you worrying of offending people.
And I was curious: how did your blog ‘take off’? I love blogging and want to do more of it, and I’m always wondering how other bloggers get so many visitors and comments.
I hope you can enlighten me.
And I wish you lots of succes with your resolutions!
I subscribe to your RSS. Quite honestly, I like your contests. 🙂 But, I’m there with you in almost all of the same boats (including integrating the Lord into what we do online) going into 2010. There is another blogger, Dustin, who runs “Engaged Marriage” and he’s doing an Improve Yourself 2010 challenge. His site is a Christian-focused marriage site. He’s looking for partial sponsors, too. Not just money, but giveaways for weekly winners. Anyway, I both joined and sponsored on behalf of my blog. Maybe that’s one way to work on some of your goals. If you visit my site, the post about the contest is the second one down. Good luck!
Thanks for this post. It has surely gotten me to think about a few things and my New Years’ Resolutions as well. Ironically, they are along the lines of yours as well.
I enjoy your blog and am a subscriber. I’ll be honest. Although, I initially came here for the giveaways, I have stucked around because of your content..with that being saying, Im sure I will be a round with the new focus and changes to come.
Best of Luck!
Louise,
Thank you for participating in “Improve Yourself! 2010” over at my blog! I am excited to have you participate as part of our accountability community, but I’m just as excited to find your great site. Thanks to Carrie for making this link!
P.S-I’ll have a button for the contest ready soon if you would like to use it to spread the word and get others involved in the challenge. I’m really looking forward to getting started!
Dustin
My main goal for 2010 is to reduce our debt and save some money. In the mean time, I’ll be spending more time at home so I won’t be tempted to spend money, so maybe I need to get that Wii Fit back out and work on the whole fitness thing again!
I want to loose 20 pounds, eat more healthier and be a better person.
I loved your resolution to post more about God – that is a very good one! I need to do that too. I certainly don’t post about all I am learning about him enough.
I need to write this post this week, the resolutions post.
I hope you had a great Christmas with your family. I Have a couple more yet….but in January I will finally be done LOL
Nice goals Louise! I am still putting my list together! I am making goals but this year I want to make goals that are attainable. It seems I always reach for the sky with my goals and by March I have broken all of them! LOL I always figure, reach for the moon, if you land among the stars you’ve still progressed. The only problem with me is that I am a “perfectionist”- (I am not really but my husband thinks so) I do tend to do ALL or nothing though- It has to be exact or I feel as though I have failed. Hmm- I need to Blog about this… LOL
My new years resolution is to be a better person and mom by volunteering more. Thanks for your post!
I’d like to keep up my daily exercise schedule spend more time with my family!
I like that you wrote your resolutions down. I may do that this year too to help keep me on track!
HAHAHA your thinking is like mine, its not the first yet lol. Im going hard AND KEEPING MY NEW YEARS RESOLUTION THIS YEAR.
GoodLuck to you with yours!!!
Hugs RaeRae
I too am makinga resolution to lose weight. I have lots to lose and need to do it in order to accomplish resolution number 2. #2 is to spend more QUALITY time with my kids. Sittingon the sidelines is not exactly quality time. I want to be able to play with them and not get out of breath after 5 minutes of play. Number 3 is to actually figure out my beliefs. I have too many unanswered questions and *out there* ideas, I need to figure out what I want to believe and BELIEVE! On that note, never be afraid to talk about what you believe. As long as you don’t try to push your beliefs onto others, you will be fine. Resolution number 4 is to get more patience and not yell as much. Sounds stupid easy but, well yeah….I have NO patience.
Good luck in the coming year and have a Happy and Healthy New year!
Here from 5 Minutes for Mom! Wishing you great success with your new goals!
I’d love 10,000 twitter followers this year too! 😀

Great list of resolutions! (I listed some on my blog, too!)

Those are all great goals Louise! I have a lot of the same ones.

Those sound like great goals! I’ve read that it makes a big difference in a person keeping their resolutions if 1) they write them down, and 2) they share them with others with the purpose of being held accountable. And you’ve done both! I hope that you are able to be persistent with them & enjoy this year to the utmost 🙂
