To celebrate the upcoming release of The Boxtrolls, I wanted to create a fun little crafting project. Since I always seem to be running out of gift tags, I thought I’d create a set of easy homemade gift tags featuring my favorite trolls!
What You’ll Need:

- Foamies Multicolor Sticky Back Foam Sheets
- Scissors
- Felt-tip pen
- A photo of The Boxtrolls (See below)
- Your imagination!
So here’s how this concept works: These foam sheets come with a sticker back, so you can use different colored sheets to cut out shapes, peel off the back, and stick them together. What I did for these gift tags was take a blank white sheet of foam and cut out shapes to create “Boxtrolls”, which I then assembled and stuck to the white foam backing. Once this is done, you can write “To:” and “From:” in the remaining blank space. Simply leave the backing on the white foam until you’re ready to use, and then peel it off and stick it to the side of your wrapped gift. Fun to make, and no glue involved!
My friend, J, participated in the crafting fun with me. She’d never seen a photo of the Boxtrolls until I mentioned it, so I pulled up the movie poster to use as our inspiration:

The fun part of this craft is that it’s all up to your own artistic interpretation! This is the gift tag my friend was working on:

I thought her representation of Fish was dead on!

Meanwhile, I was hard at work making Oil Can.

OK, I clearly am not as gifted in the craft department as my BFF, but it was made with love and that’s what counts, right?! đ
Catch The Boxtrolls in theaters on September 26th! Which just so happens to be the day after my birthday, so there’s one potential use for your Boxtrolls gift tags! đ
That is adorable
Oh these are so cute! My nephews birthday is coming up, we will have to make these! What a neat idea!
