Want to buy a phone that will get you noticed by celebrities? Then you need the LG G Flex 2!
I received this phone right before I headed on a trip to California, where I was filling in for our friend Connie to cover the release of Voltron: Legendary Defender at DreamWorks Animation Studios. I decided to bring the phone along with my other gear, and it came in so handy. I was conducting a number of interviews that day, and used an app on the LG G Flex 2 to record the audio. And as I headed into a Q&A with Voltron voice actors Rhys Darby, Tyler Labine, Kimberly Brooks and Josh Keaton, it became quite the conversation piece!
One of the notable features of this phone is that it has a very distinct, curved design. I set the phone down with the other recorders on a table where we were seated with the actors, who all began oohing and aahing over the phone.
“Whaaaaaat? What is that, your little clamshell, neato phone there?” asked Tyler Labine. I joked that it was my own personal Voltron and would transform into a robot during the interview. Labine replied, “I can’t tell if you’re joking or not. So, seriously, what is that?” I then explained that it was the new Flex and was designed to be curved.
“That’s pretty neat. Oh, that’s not from putting it in your back pocket?” Labine joked. He then suggested that we move all the phones up closer to the cast in order to get better audio, and when you play back the recording, you can hear his voice getting louder as he reached over and picked up the G Flex 2, holding it up so that he and Rhys Darby could look at the curvature case. Talk about breaking the ice!
Aside from giving me the priceless chance to joke around with the Voltron cast, the LG G Flex 2 is just a fantastic phone. It did a great job of recording all of the audio during my busy day at DreamWorks, and also came in handy during my cab ride to the LAX airport with Joyce, where I used it as a mobile hotspot to get some work done on my laptop. It has a 13MP camera, long-lasting battery, a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 810 Processor with 2.0 GHz 64-bit Octa-Core CPU, and of course, a unique design that is lightweight and eye-catching. Another fun bonus: I have a Kanex SLIMPORT-ADP Slimport To HDMI Adapter that I use with other devices, so I tested it out with the G Flex 2, and it worked perfectly on the first try with no setup needed. With this adapter, the phone’s output looks beautiful on any large display with an HDMI input, perfect for watching videos or viewing photos on your TV.
The LG G Flex 2 is a fab addition to a connected professional’s gear bag as well as a solid phone for personal use. Thanks, AT&T!
