Do you have a Gremlin that lives in your dryer and eats single socks?? I do!! How do you rid your home of this Gremlin? You can’t. But, you can make folding socks a fun game to play with your kids, so I jumped at the chance to try a new product for MomStart. I was thinking anything that would sort my laundry really is magic!
The Magic Sock Sorter is available on-line for $19.99 plus shipping. I received my sorter with lightening speed and pulled it out of the package with equal lightening speed! What I found was a wall hung, light weight fabric sock sorter with Velcro on which to attach your socks. I would say it has about a 30 sock capacity which in my house is nothing as far as lost socks go. It came with wall fasteners that can be easily removed without damage to your wall. Only, It lasted about 30 minutes because my little helper pulled it off of the wall so she could sort her socks and the fasteners are not reusable so you are left having to nail it to your wall to hang or just roll it up to stow away when finished.
Here is where the magic came in…my little laundry helper was so amused by the Magic Sock Sorter that she sorted the socks, folded them and put away the rest of the unmatched socks. Ba-Bam! It was fun for her, a game to play! What better teaching tool could you find? None! So now, one of her chores is sock sorting, which she does without complaint every time. Thank you Magic Sock Sorter!
What it came down to is practicality. Is it a practical purchase? To use on a daily basis as a tool to help ease the chore of laundry, not really. But to use as a teaching tool to help your kids learn basic skills and responsibilities, ABSOLUTELY! Would I pay $19.99 plus shipping for it? Probably not as is now. But, made with bright colors and a game theme to encourage fun…… I have to say, I probably would
