Yesterday I had lunch at The BrookGreen Gardens Restaurant after spending a wonderful morning exploring the gardens and statues. I took a ton a photos and just had an amazing time. While I was having lunch I was sitting there listening to others have conversations and just taking in my surroundings. It’s not very often that I actually sit down and relax. I’m usually on the go go go and if I’m sitting I’m looking at my phone.
While I was listening I heard those southern accents, had sweet tea and found myself missing my grandmother that passed away two months ago. I was thinking that this trip would be something she would have loved to have done. She loves history and the statues and gardens were full of it. She used to travel and would tell me stories about all her adventures and now I don’t have her anymore. I heard ladies behind me talking about what they were going to do next and I felt like my grandmother was behind me planning out her day with her best friend.
I just find myself really missing my grandmother right now.
People here in Myrtle Beach South Carolina are as sweet as the sweet tea. They are the type of people that enjoy their day and don’t just rush past you. They have time and they enjoy their time and they have time to tell stories and to listen to stories. I find myself wanting to spend time here just because it makes me feel close to my grandmother I lost.
