In just two days I will be going to the home of Pixar Animation Studios for the upcoming movie Coco. It’s going to be a Coco Animation Day. You may remember that I’m really excited to see Coco, as I’ve already been treated to a preview of the movie and a live musical performance by Benjamin Bratt, the voice of Ernesto de la Cruz. He sang “Remember Me” from the movie.

Since Coco is about a boy that has been forbidden to play music, and ends up in the world of the dead trying to find a way to play music there is a lot of opportunity for music. One of the first things we will be doing at Pixar is learning about the music of Coco. Then we will be participating in a more in depth description of how the movie evolved.
We will be learning how the production team was inspired by the research and how it transferred into the fantastical story set. We will be learning about the worlds of the living and the dead. We will talk with animators about how they brought the skeletons to life and more about Miguel, his faithful companion Dante and his ancestors. And we will learn about Pepita a magical creature based on Mexican folk art.

NAME THAT TUNE – In Disney•Pixar’s “Coco,” Miguel’s love of music ultimately leads him to the Land of the Dead where he teams up with charming trickster Hector. “Coco” features an original score from Oscar®-winning composer Michael Giacchino, the original song “Remember Me” by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and additional songs co-written by Germaine Franco and co-director/screenwriter Adrian Molina. Also part of the team is musical consultant Camilo Lara of the music project Mexican Institute of Sound. In theaters on Nov. 22, 2017. © 2017 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.
I love going to Pixar and learning about the animation behind the films. I’ like a kid in a candy store. Our trip will end with a visit to the Walt Disney Family Museum.
Coco will be in theaters November 22. Check out this great Coco Trailer
