Olympic champion Kristi Yamaguchi is a passionate advocate for children’s literacy. Her Always Dream Foundation works to highlight the importance of early childhood literacy and reach out to communities to provide more access and opportunities for children through the Always Reading program. To mark National Reading Month, Kristi is teaming up with Leapfrog for the 20/20 Challenge. Through the month of March, when parents sign up and take the challenge to read to their children for 20 minutes a day, Leapfrog will donate 20 LeapReader books to the Always Dream Foundation. It’s a great way to bond with your child and help other children at the same time!

I had a chance to speak with Kristi last week about the crucial role that reading plays in a child’s future – watch my interview with her above to hear more about the importance of early childhood literacy, and tips for ways that you can get your child excited about reading!
