My daughter loves being an entrepreneur. She’s an actress and knows that acting will only last so long. She has so many dreams and never gives up. There are so many Saturdays when she is outside with her friends selling Lemonade and having bake sales. She loves to bake, her ultimate dream is to grow up and be an actress and open up a bakery. Everyone loves her recipes. Through this blog, I found out about Venture Kits.
Inspiration Behind Venture Kits
Too few kids are exposed to entrepreneurship today. It’s common for parents to teach kids how to save and budget money, but less common to teach how to earn it. I also noticed that most kids have no idea what an entrepreneur or CEO is, and many have acquired a negative view of the word “boss.”
- Because the business world is lacking in diversity.
Venture Kits are designed by real entrepreneurs and Harvard MBAs, reviewed by real grade and high school teachers, and tested by real kids. Venture Kits arm kids with tomorrow’s must-have skills: initiative, grit, creativity, and problem solving. The Venture Plan is a totally unique approach to learning entrepreneurship. Its combination of “steps” and “tips” strikes the perfect balance between strict instructions and total freedom, and provides a manageable guide that kids can follow through to the end. Treats To-Go is the first kit available to the public, and it is out in limited release! Only 500 prototype kits will be released at this time (400 for sale), and we will use the feedback from our customers to work on the next version. Kits cost $25 and can only be purchased via www.venturekits.com. Many more kits are on the way: look out for VK Art Auction and VK Talent Show coming soon!
Zoe loved the box, she couldn’t wait to start using it for her next bake sale. She sold Lemonade and cookies. I was very impressed. She loved how it came with little baggies and the price cards.
I think it’s quite important to teach kids the skills they will need to survive and thrive. They need to learn the importance of money, how to save and how to make money even. I think that making money in this way also teaches them how to count it and give out change. They learn so many different skills by having a sale on their own like this. They also learn how much they can get away with charging based on sales.

How to get the most out of Venture Kits Treats To-Go
- How do we play? Follow the Venture Plan step by step to start a business.
- Who can play? The kit is labeled 10+ because it requires third grade math skills. But younger kids can play with your help. Parental guidance is recommended for all kids because the kit encourages activities like light baking, calling friends & neighbors, searching information online, and delivering treats.
- How long does it take to play? The full kit can take a whole afternoon or longer. But it is broken down into more manageable pieces so kids can take their time and track their progress. There is no right way to play.
All kids (and parents) can apply to have their kids be Venture Kit Board of Kids Advisors at www.venturekits.com/kids. Those selected will be notified of membership on a rolling basis.
