Yes, I did just use the words jingle and July in the same phrase. Why would I do a crazy thing like that? It’s all because I like to do things that make a difference. I like to donate. I like to give. I like to volunteer. I like to make people happy. THAT is why I am incredibly excited to be involved with the Capital City Clauses here in Raleigh.
In Seattle, I had found some of my favorite ways to help out in the community. When we moved back to NC, I knew I was going to need to find a few new good causes. *Enter Capital City Clauses* This nonprofit group has been organizing a larger than life holiday toy drive in Raleigh for almost 20 years! The Jingle Ball is a cocktail party held in December. It is always a successful event bringing tons of toys to the Salvation Army. The Capital City Clauses have now opened up other opportunities to raise even more toys for those in need. This year, they kicked it all off with Jingle In July.
Jingle in July was a great way to start the season of giving. Yes, it may have been 100 degrees outside, but Christmas lights, Christmas sweaters, and even some Christmas trees set the mood for a wildly successful toy drive. In order to get in, attendees either donated one toy, or made a $10 cash donation. Though I don’t know exactly how much money they made, or how many toys were collected… I can safely say that it was A LOT! It definitely makes me smile to think of how generous people can be.
You know that Christmas song, Keep Christmas With You, All Through the Year? It just seems to fit, doesn’t it? Here it is, the middle of summer, and people were opening up their hearts to bring some Christmas cheer. THAT is what Christmas is all about… even if it is in July!
I’ve already started a collection of toys to donate in December. I’ve got my calendar marked for the Jingle Ball, and I’m standing by to see what other events they’ll come up with between now and then. I LOVE when I can use blogging to spread the word about great causes and help out.
I know this is a local event and organization, but getting involved with a good cause in your own area is such a great thing to do. See what you can find out about your area… and if you’re close to me, DEFINITELY check out my friends over at the Capital City Clauses.
