Sony paid for flights and hotel in Hawaii for the Jumanji Press Junket.
Ok, so the movie releases right now are fantastic. Last week we had the epic release of Star Wars, the last Jedi and now this week Jumanji is coming out. Tomorrow you have to go see Jumanji and I’m going to tell you why. Jumanji is the perfect family movie. It’s not scary like the first one was and it’s full of humor and fun adventure. I loved it. So here are some reasons why we love the Jumanji movie.
The movie begins with this kid that is in his room playing video games. Someone walks in the room and brings in the board game Jumanji and he looks at the game like, who plays board games? Then he tosses the game aside. Jumanji seems upset and while the kid is sleeping it analyzes the video game. Then the next morning, Jumanji is a game cartridge. Well, of course the boy is interested in a new video game, plugs it in and gets sucked inside the game. The next thing we know, we meet the four teenagers that you see in the Jumanji movie trailer.
We meet each teenager and find out that each one has a struggle in one way or another. One is awkward, one is not brave, one is vain, and the other is a “dumb” jock. He’s not really dumb, but he spends all his time not trying. So, they all have one of those days in class and all end up in detention together. Then they find Jumanji in the room they were assigned to clean. They all decide to play and the adventure and humor begins. As soon as they are sucked into the game I was sucked into the fun. Each actor really owned their character and were amazing. The performances were so believable. Jack Black pulled of a teenager girl beautifully. Dwayne Johnson played the buff hero without any courage terrifically. Karen Gillan played a beautiful teen lacking confidence that was completely awkward while Kevin Hart played the jock who suddenly knew everything.
Throughout the movie there were small nods to Robyn Williams but this was it’s own movie. I think Jumanji deserves to do well in the box office because it’s not a sequel it’s a new movie. The only part small children might have a difficult time with was the bad guy. He was oozing bugs and creepy crawly things. There was also an intensity that some children might have issues with, but overall this was a captivating adventure movie that my whole family can’t wait to see.
